The Wrath of Becky, a sequel to the very cool “ultra violent Home Alone” thriller Becky, which was released in 2020, was given a theatrical release (courtesy of Quiver Distribution) last month. Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have been able to confirm that the digital release of The Wrath of Becky is scheduled for this Friday, June 16th.

Can you tell us a bit about your character DJ in "The Wrath of Becky" and how you prepared for the role?

Oh man, another bottom-of-the-barrel piece of patriotic filth who uses crude comedy and a "devil may care" attitude to hide behind his insecurities and small dick…My Favorite! When the movie premiered at SXSW, I joked about how I got a Vpn and Tor browser and went onto Reddit-type echo chambers that spewed white supremacy hate, but that was a joke. I'm from Virginia and have family from North Carolina. I'm not saying that the South is entirely racist, but I've been around these types of people. And without calling out specifically who, I will say that I modeled DJ after a family member. I studied the script over and over and made some bold choices.

Mike Flanagan's ever-widening oeuvre primarily consists of horror adaptations infused with his trademark ability to imbue greater depth into characters and introduce fresh perspectives to already-promising premises. Take his films "Doctor Sleep" and "Gerald's Game" for instance — while both are somewhat faithful to the respective Stephen King originals, Flanagan uses these classic stories to flesh out the fictional worlds further, focusing on haunting atmospheres as opposed to traditional jumpscare tactics to elicit scares. This sensibility also bleeds into his small screen offerings, where Flanagan was able to make "The Haunting of Hill House" and "The Haunting of Bly Manor" his own, despite constructing the stories on the foundational tenets of the novels they were adapted from.

Continuing this tradition, Flanagan has currently set sights on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, whose short stories are often a mix of gothic horror and supernatural mystery, making it the perfect playground...

Becky lead Lulu Wilson has hinted a third outing in the action thriller franchise following the release of the upcoming sequel, The Wrath of Becky. Speaking with Comicbook.com, Wilson teased a trilogy for her wonderfully warped young hero, playing it coy when asked if there were any plans for further adventures.

"I don't know how much I can say about this but, like, keep your hopes up. There could be something on the way."

While Wilson carefully hints at a Becky threequel, a further conversation with her co-star Kate Siegel pretty much confirms that Becky 3 is now happening.

"I'm not great at keeping in touch with anyone, but we had dinner the other night and it was amazing. Like Kate is, we're very similar people and she's such a talented actress. It was really exciting to work with her. Hoping that she'll make an appearance in the third. But she's fantastic.

Three years ago, the action thriller "Becky" introduced drive-in theater goers to a 13-year-old whose defensive measures against home invaders would put Kevin McCallister in "Home Alone" to shame. Let's just say the eponymous Becky, played by Lulu Wilson, improvises some unorthodox uses for colored pencils as a group of convicts besieges her family's lake house. She's got a blood-covered face and an attack dog named Diego, and you'll see both of those in the sequel, "The Wrath of Becky."

Over the weekend, "The Wrath of Becky," premiered at the 2023 South by Southwest Film Festival, where /Film was on hand to interview Wilson and co-directors Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote. When we last left “Becky” (starring an extraordinary Lulu Wilson), she’d managed to off an entire cell of neo-Nazis, ingeniously and gruesomely plotting their deaths after she and her ill-fated dad ran afoul of the baddies during the world’s worst family vacation. Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion’s icky “Becky” didn’t do much more than deliver on the promise of turning a teenage girl into a righteous murderer — and, again, what luck to have cast the plucky and spunky Wilson in the title role — but it did feel as if there was more ground to cover (and more blood to spill).

Thus: Sequel! “The Wrath of Becky,” which arrives just three years after Milott and Murnion’s indie hit, certainly offers more — it’s also more of the same.

Lulu Wilson tapped into a primal ferocity for her turn as the enraged teen taking down violent home intruders in 2020’s Becky. Its follow-up, The Wrath of Becky, reveals that the time passed between films hasn’t diminished the teen’s volatile rage in the slightest. Armed with John Wick-like motivation, Becky plunges into a new vengeful quest that provokes more violence, bloodletting, and a higher body count. This time a more well-rounded sense of humor offsets her wrath.

Writer/Directors Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote recalibrate the tone straightaway with a humorous reintroduction to the title character. It’s been two years since the events of the first film, and Becky’s been humoring foster families before quickly dodging them. Eventually, Becky and her loyal dog Diego get taken in by a kind older woman (Denise Burse), who never asks questions and isn’t phased by Becky’s survivalist training.

Becky is back! Although there isn’t any release information on The Wrath of Becky, a sequel to the very cool “ultra violent Home Alone” thriller Becky, which was released in 2020, the folks at IGN managed to get the exclusive first look at a teaser trailer for the film. Seven months have gone by since we heard the awesome news that production had wrapped on The Wrath of Becky, a sequel to the very cool “ultra violent Home Alone” thriller Becky (watch it Here, read the 9/10 review the film received from our own Lance Vlcek Here). We still don’t know when The Wrath of Becky is going to receive a wide release, but it has been announced that the movie is going to have a world premiere screening at the South by Southwest film festival in March – and along with that announcement comes the unveiling of a first look image, which can be seen at the bottom of this article. The image shows our heroine Becky, played by Lulu Wilson (Annabelle: Creation), at a moment where she’s soaked with blood.

Hypnosis is a double-edged sword in Netflix's psychological thriller, "Hypnotic," which navigates how even the best of human inventions can be disrupted by virtue of nefarious intentions. Directors Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote attempt to imbue this oft-rehashed trope with meaning, but ultimately fail to craft a cohesive narrative that manages to keep viewers on edge. Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote, who previously teamed on the Netflix horror film “The Open House,” will direct “Hypnotic.” Richard D’Ovidio is penning the script with Angel and Coote.

It is unclear when “Hypnotic” will be released on the streaming service.
