An acclaimed short filmmaker with Vancouver Island roots, Dustin has built a career driven by curiosity and a pursuit of different perspectives. From producing corporate videos in Kunming, China, to reporting on the G20 riots in Hamburg as a freelance journalist, these experiences continue to fuel his passion for telling stories and seeking out new adventures.
His latest film, 'untitled.mov', won Best Director at Scumdance and received international recognition at festivals across North America and Europe including as a finalist at WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival and Semi-Finalist at Flickers Rhode Island.
Alongside filmmaking, Dustin has developed a deep commitment to preservation. The journey started when his grandmother gave him a box of family 8mm films shortly before she passed away. Soon after he co-founded Dust Heads Archiving and Film Services, a company devoted to saving and sharing forgotten footage.
Since then, Dust Heads contributed to digitizing over 600 hours of archival footage for the CBC documentary Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery. Dustin's YouTube channel 'Old Footage Wanted' continues preserving untold stories in hopes of reconnecting the friends and families of those who filmed them.
