Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds Knows His Band Isn’t for Everyone: ‘You Either Love It or You Hate It’
Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds has faced a lot of pain and turmoil since the group released their most recent LP, Mercury – Act 2, back in 2022. His relationship with Nico Vega lead singer Aja Volkman, the mother of his four children, ended in divorce after 13 years of marriage. His drummer Daniel Platzman took an indefinite hiatus from the group to focus on his health, reducing Imagine Dragons to a trio. And he continued to deal with chronic pain caused by the inflammatory bone disease ankylosing spondylitis.

Imagine Dragons Live in Vegas, which marks Hulu's second project in partnership with Interscope Records, is a documentary that reunites the chart-topping band with the city that birthed them. Director Matt Eastin combines extensive footage from the Allegiant Stadium stop of the “Mercury Tour” with archival interviews in which the four band members reminisce about their rise to fame and give love to Las Vegas on and offstage.
Imagine Dragons' music has become a staple of pop culture, playing nonstop on the radio and appearing everywhere from the theme song of Arcane Legends to promotion for previous seasons of The Boys. But no matter how big the band gets — and the crowd shown in Imagine Dragons Live in Vegas is a testament to the level of stardom they've reached — their heart belongs to the music. With never-flagging energy, the musicians shared an electric experience with fans onstage while recounting...

"I feel like for many years, it was, ‘I don't really know who we are,’” notes Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds as he grounds himself before taking the stage for a packed concert in Imagine Dragons Live in Vegas. “But this tour is the first time that I knew… we are Imagine Dragons.” Cue up the group’s hit song Believer and, well, this truly becomes one documentary film you don’t want to miss. Dive into it fully on July 14 exclusively on Hulu.
Offering a nice balance of live concert footage filled with the group’s breakout hits and interviews with group members, Imagine Dragons Live in Vegas chronicles the music powerhouse from performing in dive bars and casinos across Las Vegas to its current mega popularity. Fortunately, the film is anchored around the group’s return to the strip to perform at the behemoth Allegiant Stadium.

Imagine Dragons Live in Vegas is a soon-to-be-released documentary on Hulu combining Imagine Dragons' epic performance in Las Vegas (obviously) with intimate glimpses at the band behind the scenes. The documentary is a little bit more complicated than a normal concert film, as it also includes interviews from the band, providing context to how much this particular show means to them.
Why Las Vegas? Well, fans know that it's the band's hometown, and the energy of the city has been ingrained within them. That Vegas energy and all the filial associations with it creates an incredible performance. Band members Ben McKee, Daniel Wayne Sermon, and Dan Reynolds spoke with MovieWeb about the new Hulu concert documentary.

Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds used his band’s Top Rock Artist win at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards to blast conversion therapy. Reynolds has been an outspoken advocate of Lgbtq+ rights, particularly in his own Mormon community, and was behind the HBO documentary “Believer” which exposes the painful ostracization and hatred of gay people in the Lds church. In March, it won a GLAAD Award for Best Documentary.
Taking to the stage at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, Reynolds stated, “There are 34 states that don’t ban conversion therapy,” referring to the pseudo-science that attempts to change a person’s sexual orientation from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual using psychological or spiritual means. “Our Lgbt youth have doubled the rate of depression, tripled the rate of suicide after conversion therapy,” he continued. “It’s not working and needs to change.”

Members of the rock band Imagine Dragons now own a stake in competitive gaming company ReKTGlobal and co-own Las Vegas-based esports team Rogue alongside musician Steve Aoki, ReKTGlobal announced Tuesday.
Imagine Dragons is no stranger to the esports scene. It wrote and performed the song “Warriors” in 2014 for the “League of Legends” World Championships in Seoul. Band members Daniel Platzman and Wayne Sermon are apparently longtime gamers, and they want to become more active in the esports community.
“We love gaming and esports and have been looking for new ways to contribute to this community for a long time — but we never found the right fit until now,” said Imagine Dragons manager Mac Reynolds. “We expect to see esports continue its rapid growth internationally, and we think Rogue and ReKTGlobal are the partners who will help make our hometown of Las Vegas the premiere team and gaming event destination.”

Dan Reynolds is pretty much the definition of dad goals.
The Imagine Dragons frontman and his wife, Aja Volkman, welcomed twin daughters -- Coco Rae and Gia James -- on March 28, joining big sister Arrow Eve, 4. According to the 29-year-old singer/songwriter, living in a house full of ladies has inspired new music on the band's third studio album, Evolve, out June 23.
"I will say that there are a couple songs on this record that are love songs and typically, I do not write love songs," he told Et on Tuesday, just before hitting the stage for a performance at YouTube Space La. "I think having all these girls in the house with me has softened my heart a little bit and led me to higher grounds."
When he's not on the road, Reynolds says he couldn't be happier to be surrounded by girls.

“I think this record was written after we had taken our first break as a band,” he continues. “I think that’s significant because during that...

Eight years ago, Dan Reynolds was on the cusp of stardom — but his health was in turmoil.
Reynolds, the frontman of Grammy-award winning band Imagine Dragons, tells People that at age 21 he began to experience “debilitating” pain that forced him to cancel shows.
