Jethro Patalinghug is a Filipino non-binary multidisciplinary artist, and activist. They were a recipient of the San Francisco Arts Commission's 2023 Artist Grant which culminated into their solo exhibit entitled "Bejeweled" in September 2024 at the Horn Bar of the Herbst Theater in San Francisco . They were the featured visual artist for the Oaklash Drag Festival 2023, showcasing their sculptural works "Disco Balling Heads", "The Performer" and "Gabriela Rising". Their works were featured in the Out of Site: Sylvester the Mighty Real historical walk tour in 2023 and as well as the 2022 Trans Aware Art Exhibition in San Francisco. Jethro was part of the 2024 Producer's Connection at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam and was a fellow for the 2022 Film Independent's CNN Docu-Series Intensive and DOCNYC's Storytelling Incubator. Jethro was also a fellow for BAVC's National Media Maker 2016 for his film "#MyNameIs", which follows SF local drag activists on their protest against Facebook in 2015. Their first feature documentary film "50 Years of Fabulous" premiered as the opening film at Portland's QDocs Film Festival in 2018. They are also known as the drag persona "Virginia Please" on TikTok and teaches Indigenous, Black and Brown Queer and Trans representation. Jethro has an MFA in Studio Arts at Maryland Institute College of Art and has a bachelor's degree in Digital Filmmaking at the California Institute College of Art. They serve on the Board of Directors for the GLBTQ+ Asian Pacific Alliance, Oaklash and Center for Immigrant Protection.
