What We Hide, formerly titled Spider & Jessie, is a dark psychological drama that begins in the smallest of spaces and expands into something emotionally vast. Daniel Kay directs with an unflinching eye, grounding the narrative in the intimate world of two sisters who find themselves in a situation almost too bleak to imagine.
Spider, played by Mckenna Grace, and Jessie, played by Jojo Regina, lose their mother to a drug overdose in the opening moments. Faced with the certainty that the foster system will separate them, they make a decision that binds them in secrecy: hide the death and carry on as if nothing has happened.
The central tension grows from this act. A social worker begins asking questions, dangerous figures from their mother’s life close in, and the daily grind of survival becomes increasingly precarious. The film does not dwell on spectacle or contrived plot turns; it...

Alejandro G. Iñárritu's "The Revenant" may have earned Leonardo DiCaprio that long-coveted Academy Award, but as the simple act of watching the movie quickly proves, filming it was clearly never easy. Every day on the "Revenant" set was a race against time thanks to the challenges brought by the cold, unforgiving major locations the movie was filmed in -- not to mention the carefully choreographed action and the age-old challenge of losing the light before capturing the perfect shot.
Hugh Glass' (DiCaprio) quest to survive back to civilization and find the killer of his son Hawk (Forrest Goodluck), John S. Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy), is such a deeply uncomfortable trip that it's no surprise that whispers about on-set discontent and tension were swirling before the movie even premiered. While it's true that filming the movie was an ordeal, the long-standing rumor about things escalating to a point where Hardy physically fought Iñárritu isn't quite true.

"People mess up. Then they just drift away..." Paramount Movies has revealed the full official trailer for Trust, a survival thriller from actress / filmmaker Carlson Young. This movie is set for release in August in theaters later this summer. This is another generic title for a movie - not to be confused with the 2010 web thriller Trust, or the 2018 TV series also titled Trust, or any other thriller movie about trust. Described as a "cat-and-mouse feature", this psychological survival thriller features Sophie Turner as a young Hollywood starlet who escapes to a remote cabin after a sex scandal in town. Betrayed, she hopes to hide out there, but ends up trapped in a "brutal game of survival" by some home invasion guests. It also co-stars Rhys Coiro, Billy Campbell, Peter Mensah, Forrest Goodluck, Gianni Paolo, Renata Vaca, and Katey Sagal. So is it all in her head or all of these people real?...

Yellowstone has already created two spinoff series, 1923 and 1883, but there still doesn't seem to be enough bingeable shows set in the West. The show was produced by Taylor Sheridan, creator of Yellowstone and 1923, and is quite similar to the rest of Sheridan's work.

Between the 1930s and 1960s, the Western genre stood out as one of the most successful, revered and well-written genres in Hollywood. While audiences had grown accustomed to the romanticized classical Western, as represented by the early films of John Wayne, key films changed that perspective. With some of the best screenwriters and directors taking on the mythology of the Old West, the revisionist Western soon became dominant.
Revisionist Westerns move beyond the romantic perspective of the Old West and instead explore the imperfections through a more realistic -- and often times violent -- lens. While some of these films offer social or political criticism of America's past and present, others hone in on some of the brutal realities of life in the West. These films often become favorites among audiences for how they represent the setting as one defined by its flaws, especially violence.

Almost a decade after playing Martin Luther King Jr. in “Selma,” David Oyelowo delved further back in time in American history to shine a spotlight on another figure, Bass Reeves. On the Paramount+ series “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” the acclaimed actor steps into the shoes of this little-known real-life character and portrays him from the days of his enslavement through the late 1870s, when he has established himself as one of the first Black Deputy U.S. Marshals in the nation. It is a performance of such range and emotional nuance that Emmy voters could very well recognize him with his third nomination next month.
It is not a coincidence that Oyelowo decided to inhabit these two important men from different centuries. As Oyelowo recently shared in an interview with Gold Derby, “I really enjoy the challenge of taking someone or something that the audience thinks they know and bringing depth,...

Just like Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers revolutionized the genre, bringing movie-sized production values to the small screen. From The Pacific to Chernobyl, shows like Band of Brothers continue to explore the impact of war on soldiers and civilians with gripping storytelling.
Despite the epic scale and storytelling, there are shows like Band of Brothers that manage to touch on the qualities that made it so great. HBO's Emmy-winning miniseries Band of Brothers is an expansive and enthralling World War II drama that documents the efforts of an American regiment (nicknamed 'Easy Company') and their experiences at war. Just like how the show's producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks' cinematic collaboration, Saving Private Ryan, revolutionized the genre of war drama, Band of Brothers...

Pet Sematary has been sequelized, rebooted, and now with the arrival of Pet Sematary: Bloodlines it has a prequel. Adapting Stephen King’s works for the screen is a risky enough proposition, creating new stories based on them even more so as anyone whose seen a few Children of the Corn sequels or reboots can attest. King himself however seems to be happy with this film and tweeted:
“In the book, this is the story Jud Crandall tells Louis Creed to try and dissuade him from using the Pet Sematary,” wrote King. “The screenplay takes a few liberties, but it’s a fine story. David Duchovny is excellent. The secret, as always, is caring about the characters.”

Following the success of chaotic cowboy drama Yellowstone, co-creator Taylor Sheridan has been given an entire book of blank checks, and has cashed as many as he could manage in just five years. While his involvement in these TV projects wavers, sometimes drastically, his brand has always been on point.
With over half a dozen shows now within the House of Sheridan, let’s take a look at how each program measures up against the rest of the catalog.
7. Lawmen: Bass Reeves
The story of real life American folk legend Bass Reeves (David Oyelowo) was originally supposed to be a larger cog in the Yellowstone prequel machine, but as it continued to evolve, it became its own standalone project, which works both for and against the show. Part of the charm of the Yellowstone prequels for any Sheridan fan is getting to search for connections between the different generations of the Dutton family.

A new cast is needed for the Twilight TV series remake, as the original actors have gone on to successful careers. Lana Condor, Milo Manheim, Forrest Goodluck, Penn Badgley, Lashana Lynch, Amandla Stenberg, Mason Gooding, and Dove Cameron are potential new faces for the main characters. Luke Eisner's appearance makes him a good fit for the role of Jasper, and the show could potentially launch his career.
A new cast is a must for the main characters in the new Twilight remake TV series. Twilight is following the footsteps of Harry Potter, a property soon to get a new TV series with HBO Max. Twilight took the world by storm in the late 2000s, launching Kristin Stewert, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner into the spotlight. The franchise produced five films from 2008 through 2012, and its success paved the road for The Hunger Games and Divergent to follow suit.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Lawmen: Bass Reeves finale.
A deleted KKK confrontation scene in the Lawmen: Bass Reeves finale would have provided closure to Jennie's story arc and tied up loose ends with other characters. The decision to remove the scene was made to create a more "impactful" ending that focused on the parallel experiences of Bass and Jennie revisiting their pasts. Removing the scene raises questions about the connection between the racist girl Clementine, her brother Brent, and Rachel Reeves, as well as what happened to Arthur Mayberry, potentially leaving gaps in the overall series.
One deleted scene left out of the Lawmen: Bass Reeves finale would have completely changed the ending for a crucial character in the series. The eight-part miniseries concluded with Bass Reeves (David Oyelowo) facing off against the recently discovered Mr. Sundown (Barry Pepper) in an intense Old West shootout. [This story contains spoilers from the season finale of Lawmen: Bass Reeves.]
In the season finale of Lawmen: Bass Reeves, the audience witnessed a standoff between former Confederate soldier Esau Pierce (played by Barry Pepper) and the hero lawman Bass Reeves (Golden Globe-nominated David Oyelowo). While Esau seemed to see something admirable in Bass from their day-one encounter (when Reeves was still under the confines of slavery), an unfortunate turn of events toward the end of episode one would forever make Esau a mortal enemy in Bass’ eyes.
And it could not be any other way, says Chad Feehan, showrunner of the Paramount+ series. Having contributed to successful cable network shows such as Ray Donovan (Showtime) and Banshee (Cinemax), Feehan tells The Hollywood Reporter that his friend, executive producer Taylor Sheridan, introducing him to Oyelowo provided the right foundation for the trio to work together in producing what Feehan calls a long-overdue, extensive exploration of the law legend’s...

Paramount+’s Lawmen: Bass Reeves season one comes to an end with episode eight, an episode that opens with Bass (David Oyelowo), Billy (Forrest Goodluck), and Sherrill Lynn (Dennis Quaid) kidnapping an associate of Esau Pierce (aka Mr. Sundown) in Fort Worth, Texas. They take him to a deserted house outside of town, but even after being tortured by Sherrill, the associate refuses to give up Esau’s location.
Bass takes over the questioning and exits the house minutes later, declaring they’re heading to Glen Rose. Sherrill doesn’t believe taking the man’s boots is harsh enough punishment. Bass, however, thinks walking for miles will probably lead to his death.
Sherrill goes against Bass’s orders and kills the man.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves, the latest series in Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan’s stable, tells an untold story that has been years in the making.
The Paramount+ anthology series, developed for TV by showrunner Chad Feehan, deep dives into the life story of legendary lawman Bass Reeves, played by David Oyelowo in the series, to chart his rise from enslavement to law enforcement as one of the first Black U.S. Deputy Marshals west of the Mississippi.
Oyelowo recently told The Hollywood Reporter that when he first pitched the series in 2015, “the whole town turned it down saying, ‘We’re not doing that because no one is doing Westerns.'” When he again went out with the project in 2017, he was told, “Oh, we’re not doing that because everyone is doing Westerns.” Oyelowo said he had a similar journey when getting Selma made, and that it wasn’t until the...

Possible subjects for future seasons include Wyatt Earp and Pat Garrett, among other legendary lawmen from the Old West.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves season 2 receives an update from star and executive producer David Oyelowo, who reveals a compelling way the show can continue. Bass (David Oyelowo) stakes out an area, sending Billy (Forrest Goodluck) into Bywater’s General Store while watching what goes down from afar. Billy returns to report that five armed men are hanging out inside, including the outlaw, Jim Webb. Bass and Billy move in closer, and Bass immediately comes under fire as he approaches the building.
