Marie Powell
Marie Powell grew up in Columbus, Ga. and had no exposure to theater during her school years. However, she began singing in chorus at the age of 10 and continued through college while attaining her degree in computer science at the University of Florida. After moving to Charlotte, NC to work for IBM she joined the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra's chorus, the Oratorio Singers of Charlotte, and sang with them for 9 years. During that time Marie attended her first opera, Turandot, by Opera Carolina and knew at once that she wanted to be a part of the magnificent music, scenery, costuming and staging. She joined the Opera Carolina Chorus in 2004 and has felt "at home" ever since. This was her introduction to acting.

Opera was Marie's segue to the big screen with her first film, Simply Delicious, as she played the role of an opera singer. Working on camera brought new experiences and opportunities as she began to work in supporting roles on indie shorts and worked as an extra on the award-winning TV series Homeland and in films featuring notable actors. Marie quickly moved on to larger roles in regional indie feature productions as well as Season 2 of the web series The Dark One.
