Jessica Jones actress Krysten Ritter opens up about bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroine back for Daredevil: Born Again season 2. As the Marvel-Netflix shows have become properly canon to the MCU timeline, it has paved the way for one of the most exciting returns in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, when the show returns in 2026.
Following the Daredevil: Born Again season 1 finale, Matt Murdock is going to need all the help he can get in order to fight back against Mayor Fisk, who has now outlawed vigilantes in New York City. That will bring Ritter's Jessica Jones back into the fold, marking the first time fans will see her back on screen since the end of Jessica Jones season 3 on Netflix.

During an interview with ScreenRant's Ash Crossan at San Diego Comic-Con, Krysten Ritter spoke about how special it was to be cast in Dexter: Resurrection and revealed that she was offered a small role in Dexter season 1 back in 2006.

Fans of Moon Knight know the show is full of surprises. At the end of season one, we learned something big: Jake Lockley, Marc Spector’s most dangerous personality, isn’t just around – he’s working with Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon. Most people thought Khonshu was the biggest problem, always pulling the strings and making the Moon Knight do dark things.
But the last scenes hint at a twist: Jake might be even more dangerous, ready to take control and do things his way. So, if Season 2 ever happens, the big question is clear: Is Khonshu really in charge, or is Jake Lockley quietly becoming the real threat behind Moon Knight’s mask?
Moon Knight Season 2 Theory: Is Jake Lockley Controlling Khonshu
Jake Lockley isn’t like Marc Spector or Steven Grant. Marc tries to do the right thing but carries a lot of pain. On the other hand,...

In 2013, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. became the first Marvel Television series developed to be part of the sprawling MCU. In the two decades since, more than 20 shows from the company have graced the small screen, all with varying degrees of success among fans, critics, and on the awards circuit.
In fact, six of the series have won Emmy Awards, and more could follow in their footsteps this year.
To date, WandaVision (2021) is Marvel's highest achiever at the Emmys, earning 23 nominations and three wins for its costumes, production design, and music & lyrics (for the "Agatha All Along" song). The limited series, which reunited Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany's Vision from the Avengers movies, was so popular that it spawned a spin-off series, 2024's Agatha All Along.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 gets a major update from Wilson Bethel ahead of Bullseye returning in the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV show. Following the Daredevil: Born Again season 1 ending, Matt Murdock is about to face his most challenging MCU arc yet, thanks to Mayor Wilson Fisk.
As vigilantes are now outlawed in New York City, the landscape is changed forever for all the superheroes, with Daredevil: Born Again season 2 set to explore crime-fighters having to run from the law more than ever. After having a handful of pivotal episodes in season 1, Bethel's Bullseye will play an even bigger role in Daredevil: Born Again season 2.

Filming just wrapped on Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, and, in a way, Wilson Bethel still can't quite believe it's a reality. It's not often that streaming series get a second chance at life years after their cancellation on a completely different platform, even if they're as beloved as Netflix's gritty original Daredevil show. Yet, that's exactly what happened earlier this year when, after years of work and a complete overhaul under showrunner Dario Scardapane, the Man Without Fear returned on Disney+ with a vicious first season that brought back the bone-breaking violence and mature storytelling. Bethel is beyond thankful for the chance to get to reprise and build upon his role as Bullseye, but with Season 2, he's taking Benjamin Poindexter to places viewers never imagined and feeling the desire to keep this going for years to come.

Krysten Ritter, the actor known for giving life to Jessica Jones in the superhero series of the same name, is set to reprise her role as the highly skilled private investigator soon. No, Jessica Jones is not being revived for a Disney+ follow-up, but the character will return in Season 2 of Disney's version of Daredevil, officially marking her debut in the MCU. Though it may have been a shocking surprise for fans of the series, Ritter admits that the secret has been simmering for some time, a period that she describes as "torture" for obvious reasons.
Apart from reviving the Marvel fan-favorite character, the actor's next role is playing Lady Vengeance in the latest Dexter revival, Dexter: Resurrection. While promoting the show, Ritter talked on the Bingeworthy podcast for The Playlist. It was there that she reflected on the torturous time during which she had to hide the return of...

After playing a key role in the original Netflix Daredevil series - as well as Jessica Jones and The Punisher - fans were surprised not to see Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney return for Daredevil: Born Again.
Mahoney was determined to remain honest in a department full of dirty cops, and even though he was against Daredevil's (Charlie Cox) vigilante methods, he aided Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson in their cases and ultimately came to see the Man Without Fear as a force for good.
Mahoney was instrumental in putting Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) behind bars towards the end of season 3.
Now, fitness coach Naqam Washington has pretty much confirmed that actor Royce Johnson will reprise the role for season 2 of Born Again, which recently wrapped production in New York.

Krysten Ritter had to get creative when deflecting attention away from her Daredevil: Born Again return.
Per The Playlist, Ritter made an appearance on the website's podcast Bingeworthy, where she revealed a few details about playing Jessica Jones again and the struggles of keeping that information under wraps. "I've also known for so long, and keeping it a secret has been torture. I'd known for almost two years, and it's a long time," she said, adding that Jessica's return has "either been talked about, in the works, or some state for a long time. Jessica Jones is back in action, and Krysten Ritter is sharing how it feels for the Pi to be rejoining the MCU!
Before the current wave of Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Disney Plus, Netflix was the first to showcase a small-screen Marvel universe. It began with Daredevil before moving onto Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. That led to the four street-level heroes coming together in The Defenders.
Sadly, as Marvel and Disney exerted more influence, the Netflix shows were cancelled and eventually removed from the streamer. Thankfully, the characters are returning as Daredevil: Born Again has acted as a direct sequel to the Netflix show, with Charlie Cox back as The Man Without Fear.
That had fans excited about the possibility of some of the other Netflix heroes coming back. Those hopes were met as it's confirmed that season 2 of Born Again will have Krysten Ritter reprise her role as super-strong,...

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has officially wrapped, with several major actors returning, but a recent social post makes the appearance of some Marvel characters less likely. A while back, it was announced that The Sixth Sense director M. Night Shyamalan and The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks were teaming up for a supernatural romantic thriller called Remain. Shyamalan and Sparks created the original story together, with Shyamalan going off to write a screenplay based on the story while Sparks turned the idea into a novel. As was said at the time, “Both will be based on the same concept and set of characters but designed for their individual mediums.” The Sparks novel is scheduled to reach store shelves this year, on October 7th, and Amazon is already accepting pre-orders for the 352 page book at This Link. The Shyamalan film will reach theatres one year later, just in time for Halloween, as Warner Bros. Pictures has given it an October 23, 2026 release date. Filming began a few weeks ago, and now Deadline has confirmed that Julie Hagerty (Airplane), Jay O. Sanders...

Earlier this year, we finally got confirmation that Krysten Ritter will be reprising her role as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the actress has now teased her return as the hard-drinking Pi during an interview with Screen Rant.

Well, it looks like that might be it for Daredevil: Born Again set photos for a while. Showrunner Dario Scardapane has taken to Instagram to confirm that shooting has wrapped on the upcoming second season. Reshoots are always possible, but it will now move into post-production.
When Daredevil: Born Again was first announced by Marvel Studios, it was as an 18-episode series. That was soon broken up into two seasons, though we'd later learn that season 2 will consist of 8 episodes rather than 9.
As for a potential season 3, that's been talked about but isn't likely to be confirmed until Disney+ sees how the second batch of episodes performs.
Here's what Scardapane had to say about wrapping shooting on Daredevil: Born Again season 2:
"And that is a Wrap on Season 2 of Daredevil Born Again. Thank you to all who made this something truly special. Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll,...

The course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was forever changed with the introduction of the Disney Plus series. The heroes and villains we were used to watching on the big screen were suddenly on our very own doorstep. The only problem? The superhero giant has rarely followed up on many of these stories.
Loki and What If...? were fortunate enough to be renewed for a second season. Furthermore, new episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be released next year. But aside from those few examples? WandaVision, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and many other TV series have been relegated to one season, and one season only. Even the recently released Ironheart doesn't have a promising future in this regard. So, is any project ever breaking the pattern? Well, why don't we ask the Devil of Hell's Kitchen himself?
Daredevil: Born Again ended on a high note that perfectly set up better things to come.

The dream of bringing back Marvel's Defenders was given new life back in May with the announcement that Krysten Ritter would be joining Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 as her grizzled, whiskey-downing P.I. Jessica Jones. Viewers haven't seen the character since Season 3 of her solo Netflix series, when she resolved to keep up her heroic work, even though her foes had been dealt with and the show had been canceled. While plot details have been kept under wraps about her return to crime-fighting next year, Ritter has finally been able to open up about what to expect from her character after so many years away. Speaking to Collider's Tania Hussain for Dexter: Resurrection, the actress hinted at a Jessica Jones renaissance that will bring action and layered storytelling alike to the Devil of Hell's Kitchen's Sophomore MCU outing.

Marvel Studios wants another stab at Netflix's longest-running MCU shows. After years of speculation over their canonicity, more recently, the MCU brass has embraced Netflix's line of Marvel TV series, unlike ever before. This has come to fruition with a full-on reboot of the beloved Daredevil series, as well as reported plans to bring back other characters from the Netflix era of the red brand, including Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and (of course) Jessica Jones.
New reports suggest Marvel Studios is eyeing a reboot of Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones series after more than half a decade off the air. Ritter's take on the beloved character made waves on Netflix from 2015 to 2019, appearing in her own solo series as well as the streaming team-up, Defenders.

There's been chatter about Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter making her official MCU debut for at least the last three or four years. However, it wasn't until this past May that she was confirmed to reprise her most iconic role in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo once seemed likely possibilities for a Jessica Jones cameo, and it was widely reported that Ritter came close to shooting a cameo for the latter. Unfortunately, that was scrapped when it became a standalone "Marvel Spotlight" series, branding that Marvel Studios has since seemingly moved on from.
Regardless, after the largely disappointing second and third seasons of Jessica Jones, fans are excited to see Ritter get another chance courtesy of Marvel Studios. However, there may be much more to her MCU future than a supporting turn in Daredevil: Born Again.

Mark Snow, the television composer known for creating the iconic theme for The X-Files, died on Friday, July 4, at age 78. Responsible for having scored over 200 episodes of the iconic supernatural series throughout its original nine-season run, Snow would also return to work on the show’s revival series, two movies, and its 2001 spinoff series, The Lone Gunmen.
According to Variety, Snow passed away in the early morning hours at his home in Connecticut. He is succeeded by his wife Glynnis, three daughters and four grandchildren. Sean Callery, composer for 24 and Jessica Jones, spoke fondly to Variety of the musician whom he considered a mentor and long-term friend. Check out his comments below:
His limitless talent and boundless creativity was matched only by the generosity he bestowed upon other composers who sought his guidance. He would give the most inspiring and intelligent feedback when listening to the work of other young...

Veteran TV and movie composer Mark Snow has died. A veteran musician and composer, Snow was best known for composing the haunting opening theme of The X-Files, in addition to scoring every episode of the series. Snow also composed for series like Blue Bloods, Smallville, and Ghost Whisperer. Snow died at his home in Connecticut at age 78.
Snow's death was announced by his longtime friend and colleague, Sean Callery, according to Variety. Snow was born Martin Fulterman on August 26, 1946, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He studied at Juilliard and was friends and roommates with fellow future screen composer Michael Kamen; the two formed a band, Emil and the Detectives. He started out as a record producer, but his brother-in-law, actor Georg Stanford Brown, talked mega-producer Aaron Spelling into trying out Fulterman as a composer on their cop show, The Rookies. The Netflix hit series, Daredevil, set a brutal tone for how Kingpin operated as his battle for control of Hell's Kitchen raged with Matt Murdock. Vincent D'Onofrio's turn as the white-suited crime boss was spectacular then, and has since continued into the Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. Three months after the series' premiere, the show continues to drive conversation online with the latest bit of discourse centered around the portrayal of Wilson Fisk. After the confrontation between Charlie Cox’s blind hero and the crime boss in the nine-episode first season, one fan of the franchise has criticized the character’s supposed "nerfed" handling.
Engaging with the fan on X, D’Onofrio stepped in to defend Kingpin’s creative direction in Born Again, after the villainous character was accused of being “nerfed like the Hulk." D’Onofrio expressed his disagreement with that analysis and argued that while his portrayal of...

With Daredevil: Born Again officially part of the MCU, the chances of a full reunion of the former Defenders cast from Netflix’s Marvel shows seem higher than ever. Several actors from the original lineup have already expressed excitement about the possibility of returning, including Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and Finn Jones (Iron Fist).
As the MCU continues to integrate street-level heroes, fans are eager to see whether Marvel Studios will bring back the entire Defenders crew for a long-awaited reunion. While nothing is confirmed yet, the growing enthusiasm from the actors and the success of past revivals—such as Charlie Cox’s Daredevil—make it a real possibility.
Finn Jones recently addressed his potential return, and once again, he confirmed that he would love to be part of the MCU. Jones acknowledges that he is aware of the criticism surrounding both the Iron Fist character...

Could Marvel finally be giving us the MCU crossover we’ve all waited for? It could finally be happening, it seems!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen its share of ups and downs over the last few years. Just as it looked like the franchise was unstoppable following the game-changing, box-office-dominating Avengers: Endgame, it has hit the skids and is no longer the consistent force that it once was.
Some of the reasons for Marvel's recent inconsistencies are beyond the McU's control, like the pandemic, the 2024 Hollywood strikes, and parting ways with Jonathan Majors (which forced Marvel to drop Kang as the Multiverse Saga's next big villain). Although it appears as if it's back on track, there is still concern about the creative direction for the franchise as they build to Avengers: Doomsday.

There's been a lot of discourse regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe series. While there have been some fantastic hits, such as Loki and Daredevil: Born Again, it's also widely believed that many of these projects feel like over-extended movies scattered across six (and almost always only six) episodes of television. To make matters worse, the Disney Plus shows have mostly remained disconnected from the rest of the stories happening on the big screen.
Heroes such as Moon Knight, Werewolf, White Vision, and She-Hulk have all made their debut on these types of projects, only to never be seen again. But if that wasn't enough, Marvel's new approach to the small screen also raised some eyebrows. Marvel's Head of Television, Streaming and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, recently confirmed that big and renowned MCU heroes won't be the stars of Disney Plus series moving forward (though they can still make cameo appearances).

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has the potential to bring back this oft-forgotten Netflix Defenders character. One of the most exciting developments with the second season of the Charlie Cox-led series is confirmation that even more of the Netflix Marvel universe will begin bleeding into the new Disney+ Daredevil revival. With the reveal that characters like Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones will be returning to her Marvel role in the upcoming episodes, it feels like the potential is limitless for who else could come over from Netflix's time with the franchise.
While Defenders mainstays like Luke Cage and Iron Fist have come up repeatedly in rumors surrounding Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, one name that could come along for the ride as well is Elodie Yung's Elektra.

A Daredevil: Born Again editor recently revealed there was one Marvel series the team was instructed not to watch when reviving the show. The first season of the series premiered on Disney+ earlier this year.
In an interview with Awards Radar, Daredevil: Born Again editor Stephanie Filo talked about how the show's creative team were told to not look at the previous Daredevil Netflix series when working on Born Again. "[T]he original take on it was to lean away from the Netflix Daredevil show. They actually told us not to watch the Netflix show, because they didn’t want to affect how we were editing it," Filo shared.
After the creative vision for Daredevil: Born Again was figured out, the team was able to look back at the show's predecessor for reference. "Once we restructured everything and figured out we would do a different take on it, we dove back...

Fans of Jessica Jones have been waiting a long time to see the super-powered private investigator back on screens, and it looks like they could be getting more than expected if a new rumor about Krysten Ritter’s popular Marvel character turns out to be true.
Ritter originally played Jones in her own Netflix series, and subsequently crossed over with other Marvel Television shows Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, as well as the joint Defenders series. When Marvel Studios shut down Marvel Television, it looked like the end of the road for the group of New York vigilantes, much to the annoyance of fans.
Now, following the return of Daredevil, Jessica Jones will be joining the MCU in Born Again Season 2, and has already been spotted on set filming alongside Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock. It seems, though, that this is not the only project set to feature Jones,...

Two 2026 projects within Marvel Studios' reboot of the Marvel projects that originally premiered on Netflix have been confirmed to include two anti-heroes, now that one character has been announced to be joining the franchise. Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk were the first characters to make the jump from Netflix's Marvel franchise over to the MCU. Daredevil: Born Again brought more characters back, and is set to include even more Netflix characters when Season 2 releases in 2026.
Disney officially confirmed that Krysten Ritter will be joining the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, reprising her role as Jessica Jones from Netflix's Marvel franchise. However, Jessica Jones won't be coming back as a superhero, but rather as an anti-hero, making her the second major anti-hero in the McU's Netflix reboot.

David Tennant returns to the Marvel universe in a new role, not reprising his role as Kilgrave. Tennant will be voicing a villain in the upcoming season of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Despite not playing Kilgrave, Tennant's return is exciting as it allows for a different side of his acting skills.
David Tennant has returned to the Marvel universe, though not as the villain that the audience has been waiting for. The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand on TV and the big screen with TV shows on Disney+ and the ongoing Multiverse Saga in film, but it also keeps branching out with projects not directly connected to the rest of this massive universe. Agents of Shield fans want their show to be recognized as part of the MCU canon, just like Daredevil. Fans are torn between being excited for Daredevil's acknowledgement and sad that Agents of Shield has been ignored. The strong connections between Agents of Shield and the MCU, as well as its introduction of important concepts, make it deserving of canonization.
Agents of Shield fans have taken to social media to share their varied reactions to the pre-Disney+ Netflix Daredevil show being potentially acknowledged as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's canon in the lead up to Echo's release. The ABC show spanned out of the events of 2012's The Avengers, following a surprisingly alive Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his assembled Shield taskforce. Netflix's Daredevil kicked off a darker, street-level corner of the MCU at the time, as Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) war on crime introduced characters including Jessica Jones,...

An unmade Marvel TV show centered on the Eternals would have had a darker and more disturbing opening scene than Netflix's Marvel TV shows. The show would have depicted a teenager using a power drill on his ear and another child sleeping in a bathtub, pushing the boundaries of Marvel's standards. Ridley's vision for the Eternals TV series was described as "a really weird story" that would have been significantly darker than the McU's version.

The MCU has cut tie-in books, comics, and TV shows from its movie timeline, leaving only specific Disney+ series and MCU movies as canon. The place of the Defenders TV shows in canon has always been ambiguous, with the MCU avoiding confirming them as part of the main timeline. Marvel has removed various shows like Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, Inhumans, Cloak and Dagger, and Runaways from canon, either due to tensions between studios or a disconnect in tone and continuity.
Though the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the biggest media franchises in existence, it would have been much larger if certain projects hadn’t been cut from canon. The movies and TV shows of the MCU make up a sprawling universe of characters and stories from Marvel Comics brought to life on the screen. It's happening, Daredevil fans!
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have joined the cast of the forthcoming Marvel series Echo, a spinoff of Hawkeye.
According to THR, sources allege that Daredevil's Matt Murdoch appears on the series in search of a former ally.
The Weekly Planet reported that ally is Jessica Jones, who was played by Krysten Ritter in her own Netflix series.
The reports are exciting, especially when you consider the way the Marvel series concluded on Netflix.
Many of them didn't get an ending, and now, enough time has passed for Disney+ to be home to the shows.
Cox reprised his role on the 2021 movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, while D'Onofrio reprised his villainous role on Hawkeye.
The move would leave Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher on the bench, but given that the other superheroes appear to be popping up in other projects, we should expect more from everyone else.
