Vertical Entertainment Buys Musical 'A Fairy Tale After All' For North America
Image
Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment has picked up North American rights on A Fairy Tale After All, the musical fantasy, and will release the film in select theaters on February 18, 2022.

Produced, written, and directed by Erik Peter Carlson, the film stars Emily Shenaut as Sky, a high school teenager who is magically transported to the fairy tale Kingdom of Celestia, where the villagers know her as Princess Geneva. She immediately finds herself on a daring journey to rescue her father, the King, from the evil forces of Madame Mizrabel and her slapstick sidekicks.

The picture is live-action with puppets, in the vein of Labyrinth, with Brian Hull voicing the main puppet character. The cast also includes Gabriel Burrafato, Bridget Winder, Timothy N. Kopacz, plus voice-over actor Anna Brisbin. It also features five original songs written and performed by singer and songwriter Chelsi Hardcastle.

Vertical struck the deal with Premiere Entertainment Group. The...

HBO Max’s ‘Integration Test’ Email is Baffling Everyone, Even CEO Jason Kilar and James Gunn
Jason Kilar
Late Thursday evening, HBO Max sent out a perplexing email that had subscribers — and even WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar — questioning what the heck is going on at the streaming service.

The message was brief, but very cryptic. According to screenshots, it had the subject line “Integration Test Email #1” and the body of the email simply read, “This template is used by integration tests only.”

Naturally, it left a bunch of HBO Max subscribers — and Twitter users wanting to get in on the avalanche of ensuing jokes — wondering what it meant or if it was some kind of marketing stunt (it wasn’t).

HBO Max apologized for the “inconvenience” in a tweet shortly after the email went out and even blamed an intern (who we surely hope still has a job) for the bungled email. In the immortal words of a certain fictional pop star, everybody makes mistakes and everybody has those days.

Sales, production and financing company Premiere Entertainment Group has acquired worldwide rights to the live-action musical fantasy “A Fairy Tale After All.” Peg will be introducing the film to buyers during the virtual Cannes market.

The family film stars Emily Shenaut as Sky, a high school teenager who is magically transported to the fairy tale Kingdom of Celestia, where the villagers know her as Princess Geneva. She sets out on a daring journey to rescue her father, the King, from the evil forces of Madame Mizrabel and her slapstick sidekicks.

“A Fairy Tale After All” was produced, written, and directed by Erik Peter Carlson through his company A Fairy Tale After All Enterprises, with Riding Hood Motion Pictures.

Carlos Rincon, Peg’s VP of acquisitions, said Carlson had “created a special universe in the fashion of Jim Henson’s ‘Labyrinth’ and ‘The Dark Crystal’ that is filled with lovable and...

Harry Potter Fans Furious After J.K. Rowling’s Anti-Trans Comments
Beloved author J.K. Rowling now faces becoming just “author J.K. Rowling.”

The Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts creator took to Twitter recently to post a message in support of Maya Forstater, a trans-exclusionary radical feminist whose contract was not renewed at her job after she made a series of transphobic tweets. Yesterday, a British tribunal ruled against Forstater, concluding that her boss was right to fire her as she would continue to behave in a way that “violates their dignity and/or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment. The approach is not worthy of respect in a democratic society.”

For some bizarre reason, Rowling leapt to her defense, posting the following: “Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?...
