UK’s Devilworks signs North America deals for ‘Criminal Audition’, ‘The Living Dead’ (exclusive)

Gravitas Ventures has picked up both films.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to Samuel Gridley’s Criminal Audition and Fredi Nwaka’s The Living Dead from UK based genre outfit Devilworks.

Criminal Audition stars Noeleen Comiskey and is about a former lawyer and his team who run an underworld service seeking the most desperate and greedy in society to become fake criminals.

UK Genre Outfit Devilworks Adds Five Movies To Afm Slate Including FrightFest Duo
Exclusive: UK genre sales firm Devilworks has added five titles to its Afm slate including FrightFest duo Criminal Audition and Are We Dead Yet?

Devilworks has world rights to the latter, a UK supernatural horror about a robbery that goes wrong leading to five young criminals having to take refuge from the police in an old castle. The movie was written and directed by Fredi Nwaka (Brotherhood) who co-stars alongside Tim Faraday, Jessica-Jane Stafford, Fabrizio Santino, Winston Ellis and UK rapper Stephen Manderson, aka Professor Green.

Fellow FrightFest title Criminal Audition is a thriller directed by Samuel Gridley, who co-wrote the script with Luke Kaile. Pic follows an ex-lawyer and his team who run a service providing fake criminals who take on other people’s crimes. Cast includes Noeleen Comiskey, Angela Peters, Rich Keeble, Scott Samain and Rebecca Calienda. Producers include Nathaniel Francis and Luke Mordue of Mordue Pictures and Luke Kaile and Samuel Gridley.

Indie Spotlight: Spend Your Halloween With Some Well-Told ‘Urban Legends’
Halloween season is here, which means it's the right time to share an exemplary horror web series. Luckily, writer and director Luke Mordue has provided just that. He is the man behind Urban Legends, which retells well-known spooky stories in a tense and atmospheric manner.

The tales of terror revisited in Urban Legends are famous campfire fare. You might have heard them before, and you may have even seen them adapted for the screen. For his first episode, Mordue takes on the classic "High Beams" story; he follows that up by offering his version of "The Licked Hand."

Given how well-known these stories are, Mordue probably isn't going to surprise too many viewers with the plots he presents, but that's not what makes Urban Legends good.
