The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been around and going strong for nearly two decades now, and Marvel Studios has definitely enjoyed more hits than misses across its movie and TV slate. However, when it comes to the MCU, that’s not to say that every project has been a hit and stuck the landing.
The Eternals and Inhumans are two prime examples of ambitious ideas that didn’t quite resonate with audiences and weren’t exactly the slam dunks Marvel hoped they would be.
As brilliant as Eternals was, the film failed to captivate audiences in the way Marvel intended with many complaining about the film being too overly crowded and not the introduction of the characters not really making sense within the broader MCU stories. Meanwhile, Marvel’s Inhumans series landed with more of a whimper than a bang, falling short of expectations and being panned by fans and critics alike.

Eternals may be a bit ignored among MCU movies but it does have some big implications for the films!
Caution: This article contains Spoilers for Eternals
Released in 2021, Eternals was a different spin on the usual MCU formula. In 5000 BC, the Celestials, insanely powerful cosmic beings, choose ten superhuman protectors to protect humanity from the Deviants, monstrous creatures.
Over the millennia, these Eternals have drifted apart and integrated with humans. When Ajax is killed seemingly by Deviants, they reunite to find out what happened. This leads to various turns before Sersi (Gemma Chan) discovers the shocking truth of the Eternals’ origins and mission.
The Eternals’ true purpose
Sersi is stunned to realize that everything the Eternals knew about themselves is false. They weren’t just “born” before coming to Earth but had been sent to other planets before, with their memories wiped afterward. The Celestials plant a seed into the...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going through a bit of a reset in recent years. Certain projects from the franchise haven't been hitting quite as hard with audiences as their sure-fire predecessors did, and it has forced Marvel Studios to re-evaluate which titles and characters to focus on going forward.
Over the past year, there have been reports that projects such as Disney Plus series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law have been quietly cancelled by the studio, while plans have been made to bring back shows such as Hawkeye and Moon Knight for second seasons. Further reports have claimed that film projects such as Eternals, The Marvels, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania have had their planned sequels cancelled due to their underperformances at the box office.
The good thing about when a project within the MCU has been cancelled is that there is always a possibility that the character...

Marvel Studios has shared a cast list for the upcoming third and final season of What If...?, and Jeffrey Wright's Watcher looks set to be joined by another A-List lineup of Marvel Cinematic Universe talent.
We heard some time ago that season 3 would add some key Phase 4 characters to the mix, and that's evident from the presence of Kingo, Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop, and Moon Knight.
There aren't many surprises beyond that, though we are intrigued to see what the likes of Sonny Burch and Arishem the Judge bring to the table.
What If...? will also deliver some big MCU debuts, with Barbie star America Ferrera and Harry Potter icon Jason Isaacs among the guest stars set to appear in the 8-episode series.

While speaking to CinePop during D23 Brazil yesterday, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige shared an update on the status of an Eternals follow-up and spoke about the possibility of characters from the Inhumans making their MCU debut.
Eternals not only had the dubious honor of being the first Marvel Studios movie to drop to "rotten" status on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, but also finishing up its U.S. run with a disappointing $164.9 million to give it the lowest domestic haul of any McU-set film aside from 2008's The Incredible Hulk ($134M).
Even so, we appeared to get confirmation that a follow-up was in the early planning stages... when Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington (who made his MCU debut as Dane Whitman in the movie) suggested that the project had been scrapped!
Not exactly a surprise, but does that mean we won't be seeing Sersi, Thena, Kingo and the others...

It started with the social media speculation. “Natty or Not?” people asked, questioning whether Hugh Jackman could possibly have avoided taking steroids to produce the eye-popping physique on display in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
Being “natty” — meaning, natural — seemed important to Jackman, 55, who has repeatedly denied using any chemical or hormone enhancements to create the gleaming sharp cuts in his abdomen, and the veins rippling around his muscled arms as “Wolverine.”
The Internet, as usual, was skeptical.
“Steroids. It’s steroids,” influencer Noam Blum wrote on X. “I don’t know why everyone still insists on this weird industry-wide denial. It’s fine. This isn’t a professional sports competition. Steroids aren’t illegal. They all do it with steroids.”
Blum’s reply had 26.4 million views as of Wednesday.
Wolverine is a superhero and needs to look like one. But Jackman was dramatically less ripped when he first played the character in 2000’s “X-Men.

Over the years, the Marvel vs. DC feud has significantly died down, with both franchises focusing on their own specific styles and specialties. Having their own dedicated followers and a majority of them existing in both fandoms, audiences have been rooting for both franchises to succeed.

While they both occupy the same space in Hollywood, there has been an unsaid rule that the two do not blend into each other. While there have been some comic cross-overs, as well as Deadpool dropping some nods to DC here and there, it is rare for the franchise to outright reference each other in their films, opting for a more subtle approach.
Although this has always been the case, it was Chloé Zhao’s Eternals that broke this pattern. Upon the film’s release, there were several references to one particular film that made many fans raise their eyebrows.

A sequel to Marvel’s live-action "Eternals" feature, has been nixed by the studio, despite a brilliant concept based on the Jack Kirby-created comic book series, that somehow devolved into a multi-million dollar ‘woke’ feature, that would be banned in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, because one of the characters is ‘gay’:
"...for millions of years, one hundred 'Eternals' have roamed the Earth, as the secret protectors of humanity.
"Without them, we'd be smears between the teeth of the demon-like 'Deviants'.
"Their war has waged for all time, echoing in our myths and nightmares.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is all set to step into a new era thanks to the return of Robert Downey Jr. who will now be playing the fan-favorite villain, Doctor Doom, in the superhero world. While we are quite excited to see how Kevin Feige will pull it off, there are a couple of questions at the back of our minds that are still bothering us, especially regarding Jonathan Majors’ Kang and Eternals.

Both storylines ended on cliffhangers, giving fans hope that they would return to the MCU to give themselves the conclusions they deserve. However, with Jonathan Majors’ firing and the disappointing updates about Eternals’ future, we are not sure if Kevin Feige even plans on addressing these plots in the future.

MCU sequels used to be a regular occurrence, but Marvel Studios/Disney haven't been as quick to green-light direct follow-ups of late - and with good reason.
Several recent sequels/threequels - including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels - underperformed, and with Eternals not only having the dubious honor of being the first Marvel Studios movie to drop to "rotten" status on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, but also finishing up its U.S. run with a disappointing $164.9 million to give it the lowest domestic haul of any McU-set movie aside from 2008's The Incredible Hulk ($134M), a sequel always seemed like a long shot.
Even so, it was difficult to imagine that Kevin Feige would simply decide to forget about these characters, and rumors have persisted that a sequel was in the early planning stages.
We're still not sure how accurate these reports were, but if Eternals 2 ever was in development,...

Estimating the wealth of a fictional character is both interesting and very difficult to do, seeing how a lot of the estimates are based on imprecise numbers and speculation. Rarely do works of fiction present us with precise data, and even when they do, the data is only partial as it never encompasses all characters. On top of that, the data constantly changes and different sources often list different data.
In this list, we are going to bring you a list of the 10 richest characters from the MCU based on the data we have.
Disclaimer: The data in this list is not always precise, and it is subject to constant change, so take it as estimates (where data is available) rather than exact facts.

The MCU is currently in the midst of Phase 5, which is shaping up to be part of the Multiverse Saga. Right now, things are quite confusing. With Kang the Conqueror introduced as the villain, his storyline may need to be hastily wrapped up, and Doctor Doom must be set up quickly and efficiently for the overarching narrative to make sense.
Phase 4 left many unresolved plot points and apparent plot holes, requiring numerous projects to address them all. Given that Phase 4 has the lowest approval ratings of any MCU phase so far, there are many elements that currently don’t make sense. We’ve compiled a list of the most glaring abandoned storylines, so let’s dive in.

MCU is currently in the middle of phase 5 of what appears to be the Multiverse Saga of the MCU, and things are at the moment confusing, to say the least. MCU has dropped Kang the Conqueror as the villain, presumably his story will be hastily wrapped up and Doctor Doom needs to be set up quickly and efficiently for things to make sense.
Phase 4 however left plenty of unresolved plot points, or things that otherwise appear to be plot holes and it’s going to take a lot of projects to make sense of them all. A new rumor doing the rounds online is claiming that the planned DC Studios/Max Booster Gold series has found its lead, and the titular time-hopping hero will be played by an actor who made his MCU debut just three years ago.
According to Nexus Point News, Kumail Nanjiani - who played Kingo in Marvel Studios' Eternals - has been cast as Michael John Carter in the upcoming Dcu show.
How much stock should we put in this? Well, the source has been reliable in the past and seems very confident in their story, so we'd say there might well be something to it.
If it is accurate, expect the trades or James Gunn to confirm fairly soon.
Nexus Point News previously reported that Gunn and Peter Safran had tapped Danny McBride, John Carcieri and Jeff Fradley, the creative team behind the HBO Max Original series The Righteous Gemstones, to work on the show.

We know that The Boys is one of the most popular comic book series of all time, which is mostly due to the TV series being exceptionally popular; this, of course, increased the popularity of the comic book as well. At the same time, Marvel is one of the two biggest comic book publishers in the world, and The Boys is, in part, satirizing their work as well.
While these two have very little in common in terms of their plots and characters (aside from the fact that some of The Boys characters are parodies of Marvel’s characters), there are several people that connect the live-action adaptation of The Boys, as well as the live-action and animated adaptation of Marvel’s comic books.

Marvel Studios still hasn't officially announced a sequel to Eternals, but rumors persist that a second film is in development - though, understandably, it may not be a priority for the studio right now.
MCU sequels are a regular occurrence, of course, but Eternals is the only Marvel Studios movie to drop to "rotten" status on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, and the divisive superhero epic finished up its U.S. run with a disappointing $164.9 million, giving it the lowest domestic haul of any McU-set movie aside from 2008's The Incredible Hulk ($134M).
Even so, the first film left quite a few dangling plot threads that still haven't been addressed, and it's difficult to imagine Kevin Feige would simply decide to forget about these characters.
Now, Alex Perez from My Cosmic Circus is reporting that the Eternals sequel is still in the works, but has been put on the "back burner" for the time being.

One of the unique features of the MCU has been its effort to link future plot lines through mid and post credit scenes in their various projects. But some of these segments from certain films and television series do not seem to be leading to any concrete development in the future storylines of the franchise.

Despite Kevin Feigeʼs tireless efforts to keep the cogs of the megalomaniacal Marvel universe running, some of the products like the star-studded Eternals come out a bit worse for the wear and bear the brunt of the fans who remain dejected with the performance of the Phase Four era.
The quality of projects originating in the post-Endgame saga of the MCU have performed categorically worse in the recent past. Regardless, not many original projects coming out of that Phase have received the sequel treatment.
Tiamut in Eternals (2021) [Credit: Marvel Studios]With plenty of Marvel films and television projects now facing criticism over their deteriorating quality, it is only fair for audiences to feel nervous after receiving news about a sequel to a Phase Four film. Moreover, the studioʼs stagnating state of work neither shows improvement nor the desire to achieve it, making it difficult to accept Marvelʼs decision regarding a Phase Four film sequel.

Filmmaker/Photographer Aleksandra Kingo’s debut short film An Ode To Procrastination is a fun and playful look at the art of doing nothing. The film explores procrastination in all its forms, opening up the conversation around fundamental fears that every artist has experienced at one point or another. On a visual level, Kingo’s background in photography and commercial filmmaking comes through in the whimsical cinematography, diorama-like production design and soft colour palette. It’s a film Dn was delighted by when we first saw it at Conero Film + Adv last year and are now excited to present to audiences through its online premiere. You can also learn more about the making of An Ode to Procrastination through our conversation with Kingo below where she delves into working with trusted collaborators, her exacting approach to set design, and the process of using her phone to shoot an entire rehearsal prior to production.

Recently, it was reported that Marvel Studios is allegedly scrapping three sequels and one of them is Eternals 2, along with Ant-Man, and Captain Marvel sequels. The reason was cited that Disney does not want to take risks and focus on sure shot hits.
2021’s Eternals failed to resonate with MCU fans
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios boss, and Disney CEO Bob Iger think pole apart when it comes to Eternals 2. While Feige wanted to make an Eternals sequel, Iger seemed to be certain that it would be a guaranteed flop. So they won’t move forward.

The MCU has now become arguably the most successful franchise in Hollywood history. While it had humble beginnings, they slowly became huge box office earners with many different individual movies and epic crossovers. However, after a dream run with the Infinity Saga, the franchise has been struggling for the past 2-3 years.
2021’s Eternals was not appreciated by MCU fans
Fans expecting great things after the franchise high of Avengers: Endgame were disappointed with most of the MCU projects in Phase 4. 2021’s Eternals became one of the lowest-grossing MCU films in a long time. In a review, Rolling Stone warned moviegoers that the 2021 Marvel movie Eternals “will bore you to death.” Moviegoers were somewhat kinder, giving the picture a solid C+, or 77 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and they spent close to $165 million domestically to see it, according to The Numbers. But the stigma of being associated with one of the meh-est Marvel movies weighed heavily on one of its stars, Kumail Nanjiani, who entered therapy when critics turned on it.

The 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Eternals,” directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, was among the first in that series to meet predominantly negative reviews. It currently ranks at 47% on Rotten Tomatoes and 52 on Metacritic. And one of its stars, “Big Sick” co-writer and Oscar nominee Kumail Nanjiani, took that criticism to heart.
“The reviews were bad, and I was too aware of it,” he said on a recent episode of the podcast “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum.”
“I was reading every review and checking too much,” Nanjiani added, confessing that when the press tour for the film concluded, he ended up on a therapist’s couch.
“It was really, really hard because Marvel thought that movie was going to be really, really well-reviewed,” he explained. “They lifted the embargo early and put it in some fancy movie festivals and they sent us on a big global tour to promote the...

Actor Kumail Nanjiani has been reflecting on the bad press Marvel’s Eternals got, and how he had to seek therapy to cope.
Kumail Nanjiani was part of the rather large ensemble cast of Marvel’s Eternals. The film was directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao and Marvel had high hopes for it; Marvel chief Kevin Feige, for example, was reportedly in awe of Zhao’s style of filmmaking and in theory, Eternals would have pushed Marvel from mass entertainment to… mass entertainment with a “From Oscar winning director” in its trailer.
However, Eternals was received pretty poorly. The film holds a 47 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, with much criticism aimed at the convoluted story and bloated runtime. Audiences didn’t really connect with the film either; Eternals grossed just over $400 million at the global box office, but it had a price tag of $272.6 million.

Kumail Nanjiani went to therapy after the bad reviews for 'Eternals'.The 45-year-old actor played the part of Kingo in the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster but explained that promoting a film that did not impress audiences took such a toll on his mental health that he sought help from a counsellor.Kumail told 'Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum': "The reviews were bad, and I was too aware of it."It was really, really hard because Marvel thought that movie was going to be really, really well reviewed, so they lifted the embargo early and put it in some fancy movie festivals and they sent us on a big global tour to promote the movie right as the embargo lifted."Kumail questioned if the criticism of the film was related to the "actual quality" of the picture and thinks the reaction was "unfair" for both him and his wife Emily V.

Upon its debut, ‘Eternals’ signaled a shift in the MCU’s direction. Despite the film facing mixed reviews and box office challenges, it was often praised for its ambition, though criticized for introducing elements that weren’t further explored. While some viewers found it refreshing, blending cosmic and mythological themes, others felt it fell short. Despite the uncertainties, there are rumors from a reliable source, Daniel Richtman, suggesting that an ‘Eternals’ sequel is in the early stages of development.

Upon its release, ‘Eternals’ marked the change of direction in the MCU, and despite the movie receiving mixed reviews and bombing at the box office, it was often described as ambitious and sometimes incoherent due to many elements introduced, which were subsequently never used again.
Some viewers considered the movie a breath of fresh air and appreciated the themes that mixed cosmic themes with mythologies, but some felt that the movie didn’t quite hit the mark. Still, it seems that ‘Eternals’ was ambitious enough to warrant itself a sequel. Nothing has been confirmed so far, but a source of reliable scoops and leaks, Daniel Richtman, claimed that the sequel to the movie is in early development.

With 32 films and over 20 TV shows so far, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most expansive (and successful) franchises ever conceived. But when you have so many stories and characters crossing paths throughout an interconnected series of movies and shows, there are bound to be some timeline mistakes, especially when some of these productions involve time traveling and parallel universes. However, several years before Marvel Studios even introduced the concept of the multiverse to the MCU, they made quite the timeline blunder in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," the first solo feature outing for Tom Holland as the new webslinger after his debut in "Captain America: Civil War."
The opening of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" takes place in the aftermath of the Battle of New York from "The Avengers," which took place in 2012, the same year the movie was released. In this flashback sequence, Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton in a terrific performance) has...

Loki and Mobius hit the darkened streets of the Sacred Timeline in episode two of Marvel’s Loki, as they attempt to track down Sylvie by tracing the movements of a Tva deserter.

Fans weren't happy at the news of Kumail Nanjiani being recast in the newest Adventure Time spin-off, Fionna and Cake, but it appears it wasn't a choice he made willingly.
Before being cast as the Wish Master, Prismo, in 2012, Nanjiani was a relatively unknown comedian. However, he slowly began to garner fame over the years, with his role as Dinesh Chugtai in HBO's Silicon Valley in 2014, in the romantic comedy The Big Sick, and finally a lead in Eternals as Kingo.
The last time Nanjiani voiced the Cosmic Entity was in the video game Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion in 2018, so while it's been years since he voiced the character, fans were still shocked to learn of his recasting.

Having transformed his body to play superhero Kingo in Marvel's "Eternals," then reinventing himself for Hulu's "Welcome To Chippendales" series, Kumail Nanjiani has truly ascended to star status. Since his 2017 autobiographical rom-com "The Big Sick" became a hit, Nanjiani has proven himself a versatile actor, capable of much more than the stereotypical roles he was previously offered. As he told GQ, "With brown people, there are very specific roles that we used to get. Either we're terrified or we're causing terror." Now, having become Marvel's first South Asian superhero and having consistently subverted Hollywood stereotypes, Nanjiani has come a long way.
But before he ascended in such spectacular fashion, Nanjiani spent many years as a standup comedian trying to break into the industry upon which he'd eventually have such an impact. Having moved to the states from his native Pakistan in the late '90s, the aspiring comedian eventually...

In 2021, "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" brought back the paranormal comedy franchise with a whole new perspective. Director Jason Reitman took over the reins from his filmmaker father Ivan Reitman (rest in peace), and he gave fans a legacy-quel that focused on Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard as the grandchildren of Egon Spengler as they learned about the legacy of their grandfather and the history of the original Ghostbusters team. But this time, all the spooky action unfolded in a desolate Oklahoma town in the middle of nowhere.
Despite the passing of Harold Ramis, "Afterlife" brought back a computer generated spirit version of Egon alongside Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson as Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Winston Zeddemore. The new generation of Ghostbusters met the old guard, and they joined forces to defeat yet another reincarnation of Gozer the Gozerian. But that was just the beginning.
After the success of "Ghostbusters: Afterlife,...

Spoiler Warning: Do not read this story until you’ve seen Marvel Studios’ “Eternals,” currently playing in theaters worldwide. Major spoilers are ahead.
The day after the red carpet premiere of Marvel Studios “Eternals,” director Chloé Zhao looked relaxed, almost serene, as she sat in a hotel suite awaiting her next interview. Her face lit up when she was asked about how her film features the first genuine sex scene in a Marvel Studios movie, and she happily talked at length about how she slipped in mentions of DC Comics icons Superman and Batman.
But when questions about the film’s two post-credits scenes came up, Zhao’s eyes nervously darted to her publicist sitting nearby.
“I will try my best — I’ve been advised…” she said, before trailing off.
Zhao’s trepidation is understandable. The news that Harry Styles appears in one of the post-credits scenes as Thanos’ brother Eros,...

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for both “Eternals” and its post-credits scenes.]
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has never shied away from tossing major narrative bombs into its films after they’ve — quite literally — ended, but Chloé Zhao’s “Eternals” offers a few more twists to the formula. Not only does the Oscar winner’s first Marvel feature conclude with plenty of table-setting for more action to come, it does that within both the film’s primary running time (kinda new!) and in a pair of post-credits scenes (the usual land of all those late-breaking twists).
Zhao’s eons-spanning epic introduces the titular Eternals — essentially, a race of immortal beings who have been (secretly) hanging out on Earth for thousands of years — and sees what happens when their apparent dedication to the safety of Earth’s inhabitants is threatened by a wide variety of forces. That’s the short version, but suffice it to say, it ends with...

Among film distribution executives in town, there’s a saying about Disney’s theatrical releases, in particular their Marvel titles: That they’re “five quad” movies.
What does that mean? Essentially, the Marvel Cinematic Universe titles are known to overindex and perform well beyond the norms of a regular four quadrant demographic tentpole which is aimed at male and females, over and under 25.
All the more reason with an IP such as Eternals, which is poised to appeal to a diverse range of moviegoers with a projected global opening weekend of $150M, that Disney reaches all points of the galaxy with their promotional partner campaign. In the case of Eternals, Disney has secured $100M in global marketing support from bespoke brands, higher than that of Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and also pre-pandemic MCU titles like 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2‘s which...
