The game’s 1603 Hokkaido setting isn’t just historically inaccurate—it’s potentially problematic in ways that could make or break this highly anticipated sequel. And no, we’re not talking about whether women could be warriors in feudal Japan.

A ghost in more ways than one

The concerns about Ghost of Yotei extend far beyond its deliberately anachronistic title or casting choices. In 1603, Mount Yotei wasn’t even called Yotei—the local Ainu people knew it as Machineshiri.

After many years of waiting for a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei was finally revealed to be the successor. Even though we are still awaiting a second trailer that will reveal more information about the title, plenty of information is already confirmed to be available within Ghost of Yotei.

Whether it be the combat style that the main character uses, the location in which the game is set, or the ghost tools that the player can use to their advantage, there is plenty of information to pick from.

It is not fair to hate on the game based on your disagreement with the actor’s personal belief’s. The actor portrays a character that you see and relate to. At that moment in time, they are not themselves. It is absolutely alright to disagree with them, but it should not affect the opinion you have of their work.

That’s right, folks—Jin Sakai, the stoic samurai who stole everyone’s hearts in the first game, will not be returning for the sequel. And apparently, that’s just too much for some “fans” to handle!

Erika Ishii may not be a household name just yet, but she is no stranger to the world of video games.

However, the upcoming sequel Ghost of Yotei is going to up the anticipation and take the adventure beyond the shores of Tsushima Island into the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, the heart of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido) with a new female protagonist, Atsu.

For Sucker Punch, Ghost of Yotei is not just a sequel but a start to a new beginning that will set a larger universe, including a cinematic adaptation and various potential spinoffs. In the sequel, players can expect a blend of stunning visuals, engaging gameplay, and deeper storytelling that potentially connect or continue Jin Sakai’s legacy, setting the stage for even more adventures in a world rich in history and myth.

However, it will not be an easy task for Ishii to fill Daisuke Tsuji’s shoes since he has set a bar quite high for him to achieve. Jin Sakai left a lasting impression on fans, and it will be tough for Ishii to surpass his legacy.

Erika Ishii is confirmed to be the new face of the Ghost franchise as Atsu. The gaming community is pleased to see a familiar and talented face take on the lead of what is arguably one of the biggest first-party video game franchises of Sony Interactive Entertainment and will not have to wait long to see the actor embody Atsu in earnest.

The voice actor has been around for quite a while and had the pleasure of working in other iconic video game franchises. There is no telling what they could deliver in this exciting new chapter of the Ghost franchise and fans are equally eager to see how Atsu will stand apart from Jin Sakai.

Dropout has ordered a second season for its “Misfits & Magic” edition of table-top roleplaying game show “Dimension 20,” which is scheduled to premiere Sept. 25 on the streamer.

“Years after the events of season one, the Pilot Program must embark on a quest for the future of magic,” the show’s logline teases.

Dropout's Ttrpg series, Dimension 20 largely functions as an anthology that hops around between stories from season to season. While some revisit characters and settings from previous parts of the series, with a rotating cast joining the one-off "Side Quests" that typically are expansions on previous seasons or well-known media archetypes. Among the best seasons of Dimension 20 is "Misfits and Magic," which dives into a world clearly designed to resemble the wizarding world of Hogwarts and Harry Potter.

The first full-length trailer for Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three has just hit (via Toonado.com), and it teases what looks to be a high-stakes finale to this animated trilogy (and the Tomorrowverse as we know it).

With only a few weeks left in 2018, we’ve stumbled upon some eleventh hour riches on the Sailor Moon news front. Before we ring in 2019, let’s take a look at what we have to look forward to.

First on the docket is the release of Sailor Moon SuperS Vol. 2, which dropped on November 13th. In the second half of this somewhat polarizing season of the classic series, we continue to follow the Sailor Guardians’ fight against the eerie and bizarre Dead Moon Circus, who are searching people’s dreams for the elusive Pegasus (Chris Niosi). Let me stipulate upfront that I have never played a Lara Croft game or saw the first film adaptation of the Tomb Raider franchise. I have a passing familiarity with her thanks to the virtue of Lara being the first major adventure video game female star (where are the others?). As a result, I approached the Blu-ray release of the March Tomb Raider film, out tomorrow from Warner Home Entertainment, with an open mind.

While Angelina Jolie seemed picture perfect in her turn, the slightly smaller, more athletic Alicia Vikander has made the part her own. It helps that the film is effectively her origin story and for 118 fun minutes, we watch her go from clueless Millennial to adventurer after being told she has to claim dad’s inheritance or lose it all…now. She is 21, aimless, and seeking a purpose when life hands it to her and she decides to grab it.
