Exclusive: Steven Ogg has signed on to star alongside Christina Ricci and Samantha Win in The Dresden Sun, a cyberpunk indie from writer-director Michael Ryan.

The film observes as a heist goes south when a brilliant, principled mercenary with a traumatic past works with an insider to steal a valued asset from Peredor Corporation called “the sphere”. The C & Earth corporation, vying for global dominance, seeks to find a solution to an otherworldly technology via a scientist’s project. Meanwhile, a financial analyst, who despises his job at the powerful investment firm Mutual One, finds himself caught between deadly corporate rivals, financial fraud, and technological espionage, and is ultimately forced to run from a psychopathic military contractor.

Exclusive: Maxim Swinton (Halston) has joined the cast of Raymond and Ray, writer-director Rodrigo García’s (Four Good Days) film for Apple Studios.

He joins an ensemble that includes Ewan McGregor, Ethan Hawke, Maribel Verdú and Sophie Okonedo, as previously announced.

The film currently in production in Virginia centers on Raymond (McGregor) and Ray (Hawke), half-brothers who have lived in the shadow of a terrible father. Somehow, they still each have a sense of humor, and his funeral is a chance for them to reinvent themselves. There’s anger, there’s pain, there’s folly, there might be love, and there’s definitely grave-digging.

Filmax series “The Red Band Society,” one of the TV fiction formats with most international adaptations in recent years, is now getting a French-language Canadian version.

Multi-award-winning Quebec producer Encore Television, the company led by François Rozon, Vincent Gagné and Louis Bolduc, will produce in collaboration with Quebecor Content. The series is due to be released on Canadian broadcaster Tva in winter, 2022.

The new remake was negotiated by the Barcelona-based mini-major Filmax’s international sales arm, headed by Iván Díaz, and French distributor Ace Entertainment.

A first Canadian season will be 10 hours long and directed by actor-director Yan England. The script, which will largely stick to the original, will be penned by “Félix, Maude et la fin du monde” writers Michel Brouillette and Stephanie Perreault.

Exclusive: Mischa Barton has been tapped to lead crime thriller Invitation To A Murder, which is being directed by Stephen Shimek (The Adventure of A.R.I.: My Robot Friend).

The project comes from Ace Entertainment, which will launch worldwide sales at the virtual American Film Market next month. Grindstone Entertainment Group will handle domestic distribution. France Television has taken French rights.

Brian O’Donnell (Akron) penned the script, which is based on an original story by Gérard Miller. When a reclusive billionaire invites six seemingly random strangers to his island estate, intrepid, aspiring detective Miranda Green (Barton) finds the mysterious invitation too alluring to pass up. When another guest turns up dead, Miranda must get to the bottom of the malicious plot behind the gathering to prove herself and maybe save her life. Principal photography is set to commence in November in Illinois.

Step aside, G.I. Joe, as C.I. Ape is on the case. Soon to be released on Digital and DVD by Lionsgate, C.I. Ape is a bonkers action comedy movie that's pretty much exactly as it sounds. It follows a superspy who just so happens to be a talking primate --- and he's very, very good at what he does. Exclusive: Production and distribution company Ace Entertainment has launched a strategic initiative to develop, produce and distribute original adventure-family movies for television and streaming services for the global marketplace. Additionally, the company has named Marielle Zuccarelli, previously COO and Head of Global Television and Distribution for Grb Entertainment, to the newly created position of President, Global Sales.

The announcement was made by Jerome Reygner-Kalfon and Sebastien Semon, Co-Founders and Managing Partners, Ace Entertainment.

The company already has distribution agreements in place and original content in the pipeline, including The Adventures of Jurassic Pet, which has wrapped production. The story of an adventurous teenager who must find the courage to help a friendly dinosaur escape from the clutches of a mad scientist, the film has been pre-sold to Grindstone Entertainment Group, a Lionsgate Company, in North America, France Television in France, and Kew Media in the UK.

Exclusive: Lionsgate-affiliated Grindstone Entertainment Group has taken U.S. rights to teen drama The Adventures of Jurassic Pet.

The company, which specializes in action titles with recognizable stars such as Nic Cage’s Dying of the Light and Bruce Willis’ Vice as well as family films including Bark Ranger and Pups United, will release the film in winter 2018.

Elsewhere, France Television has boarded, while Kew Media has taken UK and Irish rights to the film, which stars Kyler Charles Beck (Dude Perfect Show), David Fletcher-Hall (Murder Made Me Famous) and Ben Hall (The Posthuman Project).
