Survived a major stroke at the age of 14, caused by complications of infective endocarditis due to mitral valve prolapse. He fully recovered within two months. (December 2010)

Drew the raffle at the only preview of Skyfall (2012) in Scotland. The event was a fund raiser for Yorkhill Children's Hospital in Cineworld Renfrew Street in Glasgow.

(June 30, 2012) Was a guest at the European premiere of Brave (2012).

He decided to become an animator after seeing Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) at the cinema.

Is from the same hometown as David Tennant, Gerard Butler, Tom Conti, Neve McIntosh, Carmen Pieraccini and Paolo Nutini. Coincidentally, Pierquaccini presented him with his first ever filmmaking award.

Is a fan of directors Wes Anderson, Paul Thomas Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Bill Forsyth, Martin Scorsese, Mel Brooks, Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino.

Although he can sing, he has never learned how to read music and learns songs by ear.

Enjoys hill-walking and camping.

In 2016, he publicly supported the Remain side in the Brexit referendum.
