Fans of the popular sci-fi drama Raised by Wolves erected a billboard in New York City calling for a third season.

An official fan account, Save Raised By Wolves Official (@saveRBWofficial), shared pictures of the digital billboard, which says, "#Renew Raised by Wolves. We need Season 3." The endeavor is being financed via a GoFundMe campaign and aims to increase the chances of another network picking up the series. This dedicated effort comes after Max decided not to renew the show after Season 2 ended in 2022.

That’s what’s happening to Raised By Wolves, the two-season sci-fi drama produced by Ridley Scott for HBO Max.

Though the Aaron Guzikowski-created drama was met by lukewarm reviews for its first season, critics praised the sophomore release, notching an 86 on RottenTomatoes and an 84 on Metacritic.

The series centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.

Despite the second season turnaround – and an excruciating cliffhanger – Deadline revealed last week that HBO Max will not pursue a third season.

Ridley Scott’s “Raised by Wolves” has been canceled after two seasons at HBO Max, Variety has confirmed.

Originally ordered to series at WarnerMedia-owned cable channel TNT in 2018 before landing at HBO Max ahead of its series premiere in September 2020, the sci-fi drama centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.

“While we are not proceeding with a third season of Raised by Wolves, we are beyond grateful to the stellar cast and crew, our creators Aaron Guzikowski, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, and the entire team at Scott Free Productions, for their beautiful artistry and unique ability to immerse fans into the world of Kepler-22b,” HBO Max said in a statement to Variety Friday.

Raised by Wolves looks to be another casualty of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger.

Abubakar Salim, who plays Father on the HBO Max sci-fi drama, has revealed the series has been canceled.

The star shared a "call to action" Friday morning with the hashtag:

"It’s not surprising, especially after the news of the mergers and what is happening at Warner, that a lot of shows are not having their stories finished," Salim tweeted, before adding that Raised By Wolves was one of the shows getting the cut.

"And unfortunately, one of those shows is Raised by Wolves."

"Nothing has been publicly shared yet. And there is a reason for that. An important one. One which I’m here to share with you now. There is hope," the star continued.

The nice thing about tuning into a new episode of HBO Max’s gonzo sci-fi series Raised by Wolves is that you really have no reasonable expectation of what you’re about to watch.

Through two seasons the show created by Aaron Guzikowski has been set on an intensely alien world with all sorts of unfamiliar creatures, environments, and concepts. Just about every episode is as shocking as a series finale with installments this season alone featuring a merman-like sea creature that steals a teenage mother’s baby, a murderous android child with no face, and of course: a main character turning into a tree.

Remember just last week when I thought things were looking great for Team Sol and pretty dire for Team Robot? In typical "Raised by Wolves" fashion, the series did yet another complete 180 this week, throwing almost any conceived notions about where it could possibly be headed right out the window. “Raised by Wolves” returns for its second season on HBO Max this month, but given how dense the sci-fi series is, you’d be forgiven for needing a bit of a refresher on everything that happened in Season 1. The Ridley Scott-produced series kicked off with a bang, with a pilot that seemingly ran through an entire season’s worth of story in just one episode, but that was merely the beginning. This story, set in the 22nd century, follows a pair of androids trying to raise humans on a distant planet, beginning a new colony separate from the war that tore Earth apart. But they soon discover that escaping humanity’s failing nature is easier said than done.

HBO Max series Raised by Wolves has one of sci-fi television’s most compelling titles.

When it first premiered on WarnerMedia’s new streamer in 2020, the Ridley Scott-directed epic not only shared its name with a half-decent U2 song, but it also raised all sorts of interesting questions. Who are the wolves? Are they the androids dubbed Mother (Amanda Collin) and Father (Abubakar Salim) who are charged with keeping a small group of children safe on a foreign planet? Or are they the two warring factions – atheists and Mithraics – whose war stole a happy future from generations to come?

Also: is being raised by wolves even a bad thing? It certainly worked out decently for Romulus and Remus, the mythical siblings who suckled a she-wolf and founded Rome. Though perhaps that’s not the greatest example as Romulus and Remus factor prominently on Wikipedia’s “fratricide” page.

Raised by Wolves Season 2 is officially confirmed for the proverbial pack that is HBO Max’s ongoing content lineup.

Indeed, just two weeks after the September 3 premiere of the epic, stylistically-driven sci-fi drama on the premium cable channel’s streaming offshoot, a second season of Raised by Wolves has been ordered, with the WarnerMedia company citing a 50% audience growth for the show’s second week. The streamer has handed out an early Season 2 renewal to the Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi drama, which premiered earlier this month.

Raised by Wolves had a long road to the screen, initially being picked up by TNT straight-to-series in 2018.

But with WarnerMedia owned cable networks scaling back scripted series and focusing on the world of streaming, the series was announced as a HBO Max original earlier this year.

The streamer, however, notes that the series has been a resounding success and has grown its audience nearly 50 percent week-over-week since it bowed on September 3.

HBO Max has picked up a second season of the Ridley Scott sci-fi series “Raised by Wolves,” the streamer announced Thursday.

Since its debut on Sept. 3, the series has risen to become HBO Max’s top-performing original series, surpassing shows like Anna Kendrick and Paul Feig’s “Love Life” and the unscripted cooking series “Selena + Chef,” according to the streamer.

The 10-episode show centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a “mysterious, virgin planet,” according to the series description. “As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.”

Travis Fimmel, Amanda Collin, Abubakar Salim, Winta McGrath, Niamh Algar, Matias Varela, Felix Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Jordan Loughran, Aasiya Shah and Ivy Wong star. Scott is an executive producer on the series and directed the first two episodes.

It’s been several months since HBO retooled its streaming footprint, and HBO Max carries on the pay channel’s standard of producing high quality speculative fiction. Created by Aaron Guzikowski, Raised by Wolves finds that happy medium between dropping an entire season in one fell swoop or asking viewers to wait a full seven days between episodes. The first three episodes of the initial season debuted together on September 3, 2020, with seven more to appear on a weekly basis.

Stories centering around the remnants of the human race trying to avoid extinction are nothing new, but assigning a pair of androids the task of giving birth to and then raising a group of human children opens the door to a myriad of narrative possibilities. There are high hopes for Raised by Wolves, coming to HBO Max Thursday, September 3. 

With big names such as Ridley Scott and Travis Fimmel (Vikings) attached, it's inevitable the project will draw a lot of attention. 

It's been a long road to the screen for the series, which started its life as a TNT original drama.

The move to HBO Max probably allowed for a more robust budget, and it's evident that no expense was spared in the production of the series. 

The special effects and set designs resemble big-budget movies, with expansive environments introduced throughout the first six episodes. 

Unfortunately, a coherent or convincing story is what the series lacks, with some of the plots feeling a little too convenient to fully embrace.

The first teaser for HBO Max’s Ridley Scott-directed sci-fi series Raised By Wolves was nothing if not enigmatic.

The nearly two-minute first look revealed the stunning visuals of Scott and creator Aaron Guzikowski’s concept. There were cities on fire, androids blowing stuff up, and a parable of the Three Little Pigs. It was awesome. But was it awesome because it was so enigmatic? The teaser didn’t have to shoulder the burden of revealing the plot to viewers or giving a sense of how all these cool concepts and visuals would meld into a coherent series.

Now a second trailer has arrived for Raised By Wolves. And unlike the first it does delve further into the plot of the show, and move away from shock and awe splendor from the first. But wouldn’t you know it – it’s still awesome all the same. Give it a gander below.
