Dew Drop Diaries Season 2 Trailer Sees Family Fairies Return For More Adventure [Exclusive]
Image
Dreamworks' preschool show Dew Drop Diaries returns to Netflix on December 4, filled with friendship, adventure, and the arrival of cousin Reed Basil. The tiny fairies-in-training, known as Dew Drops, help their human families with big hearts, gung-ho attitudes, and a can-do spirit. Season 2 of Dew Drop Diaries focuses on gratitude, teaching kids to be thankful for both small victories and the support of friends and family.

Dreamworks' delightful preschool show Dew Drop Diaries is returning to Netflix on December 4, and Screen Rant has an exclusive first look at the trailer. Created by animation veterans Rick Suvalle (who previously developed Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go and worked on DreamWorks’ Doug Unplugs) and Aliki Theofilopoulos (who counts Descendants: Wicked World and Phineas and Ferb among her works), the series is inspired by Rick's own daughters. Dew Drop Diaries centers on a group of fairies-in-training, who at three inches tall are known as Dew Drops,...

Exclusive: Netflix's Dew Drop Diaries Make a 'Giant' Paper Airplane in New Clip
Image
DreamWorks Animation has dropped a new clip from its upcoming CG-animated preschool series, Dew Drop Diaries.

In the Dew Drop Diaries clip, fairies in training Phoebe, Athena and Eden attempt to get a cooking camp application into a mailbox before the wind blows it away. Eden has the brilliant idea to turn the letter into a paper airplane, allowing them to fly the application straight into the mailbox. However, their application is left behind when the mail carrier comes to empty the box because it was still shaped like a paper airplane. After using a paper clip to spring themselves out of the mailbox, the Dew Drops catch a ride on a skateboard in pursuit of the mailbox. The clip leaves their mission unresolved meaning that viewers will need to tune in to the upcoming preschool show on July 24 on Netflix to see if the Dew Drops successfully mail the cooking camp application.

Saban Films Buys Supernatural Horror Movie ‘Shepherd’ (Exclusive)
Image
Saban Films has acquired North American rights to “Shepherd,” a supernatural thriller by writer-director Russell Owen.

Following its world premiere at BFI London Film Festival, “Shepherd” was released in theaters in the United Kingdom last month and has generated $19 million to date. It doesn’t yet have a release date domestically.

“Shepherd” centers on Eric Black, who finds work on a remote, weather-worn Scottish island after the sudden death of his wife. As his sadness continues to engulf him, so do the supernatural portents of his stark new surroundings. He soon becomes plagued by terrifying visions until it is clear he must confront his past trauma to survive.

The film stars Tom Hughes, Kate Dickie, Gaia Weiss and Greta Scacchi (The Player). Karim Prince Tshibangu and Aslam Parvez served as producers.

Owen calls the movie a “passion project,” one that is loosely based on a true story from his native Wales.

Lucy Hale & Nicholas Gonzalez in Desert Survival Film 'Borrego' Trailer
Lucy Hale
"If we keep walking this way, we're going to die." Saban Films has debuted an official trailer for Borrego, a desert survival thriller from filmmaker Jesse Harris. Borrego follows a young botanist who relocates to a small desert town to study an invasive plant species. She must fight for her survival when she's kidnapped by an inexperienced drug mule after his ultralight plane crashes in the desert. The title is a reference to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (see Google Maps) located in California near San Diego. Lucy Hale stars as Elly, with a cast including Leynar Gomez, Nicholas Gonzalez, Jorge A. Jimenez, & Olivia Trujillo. This trailer reminds me of No Country for Old Men in many ways, with a similar on-the-run in a desert vibe. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Jesse Harris' Borrego, direct from Saban's YouTube: Lucy Hale stars as Elly, a young botanist on a research mission gone awry.

Netflix has released the first trailer for “Vivo,” a colorful, animated musical with original songs written by Miranda.

The musical adventure follows a kinkajou (a rainforest “honey bear”) named Vivo, voiced by Miranda. Vivo spends his days playing music to the crowds in a lively Havana square with his beloved owner Andrés. ‘Drunk History’ Host Derek Waters on the Show’s Lost Season 7 Episodes and Whether You’ll Ever Get to See Them
Image
For “Drunk History” co-creator and host Derek Waters, it’s pretty bittersweet to still be campaigning for an Emmy now that his show has been canceled. Comedy Central, which is mostly getting out of the live-action comedy business, announced earlier this month that it had rescinded a Season 7 order for “Drunk History,” and Waters admits it still isn’t clear what happens next.

“It sounds a little dramatic, but it’s like a funeral without any music,” he told Variety‘s Awards HQ. “I would love to finish what I started. It would just be nice to end on your own terms, to say goodbye and not just be like, ‘that’s it.'”

Waters, who created the show with fellow executive producer Jeremy Konner, said he still hasn’t been given an “actual answer why it happened … no one’s called me. I have no idea. I have no verification of it.

How ‘Drunk History’ Cracks The Books And Makes Funny Epic – Contenders TV
Image
While Comedy Central’s Drunk History typically groups its tales by thematic episodes, creators Derek Waters and Jeremy Konner’s approach to building a season simply comes from mining the best unknown stories.

In regard to the direction they provide to their research department, Waters says they tell them “to find us the best stories we weren’t told in school, or pitch us a story about someone we know so much about, and it’s a story that we never heard,” he said during the show’s panel at Deadline’s Contenders Television virtual event. “Of the stories we like the most, we find theme out of that.”

Some of this season’s notable episodes include “Bad Blood,” which features the story about Cleopatra’s (Aubrey Plaza) younger sister Arsinoe (Olivia Trujillo) scheming her way in and out of power in Ancient Egypt. Also, very timely with what’s going on right now,...

For All Mankind (2019)
Why Ronald D. Moore Created Alternate History in ‘For All Mankind’
For All Mankind (2019)
Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the first three episodes of “For All Mankind,” streaming now on Apple TV Plus.

When Ronald D. Moore was five years old, he looked up at the moon and asked his mom, “Why can’t I see the astronauts up there?”

Moore recalls being whisked into his family living room with his young brother and sitting transfixed in front of the black-and-white TV, as Neil Armstrong took his one small step.

2019 is the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, which makes Moore’s latest space-based adventure, Apple TV Plus’ “For All Mankind,” even more timely. The new drama centers on the question of how Nasa would have reacted if the Soviet Union had put a man on the moon first?

Moore says he was approached directly by Apple TV Plus co-chief Zack Van Amburg about making a project...

Ratings-wise, the first season of The Toy Box TV show wasn't exactly all fun and games for ABC. After a successful Kickstarter campaign from earlier this year, actor/producer Dante Basco has unveiled his new Hook prequel short film entitled Bangarang, named after his Hook character Rufio's signature catch phrase. This 17-minute short film shows what happened to this young boy, before he became leader of The Lost Boys, when he was just an orphan like Peter Pan himself. Here's the official description of the 17-minute short film from the Kickstarter campaign page.

"This is the story about Rufio, before the mohawk, before Neverland, before he was The Pan. Roofus is a 13-year-old kid who is destined to be more than he is.
