Iain Armitage's Two Favorite Young Sheldon Episodes Make So Much Sense
Image
"Young Sheldon" actor Iain Armitage portrayed the younger version of Sheldon Cooper of "The Big Bang Theory" fame, a character made famous by Jim Parsons. For seven seasons, Armitage piled nuance and backstory revelations on the fan-favorite "Big Bang Theory" figure, which is more than enough to make him a true authority on all Sheldon Cooper-themed matters.

Knowing this, it's interesting to learn which "Young Sheldon" episodes Armitage personally thinks are the finest examples of the show's nuanced approach to Sheldon's formative years. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he named two particular favorites:

"I love the geology episode that we did in season 1. We showed why Sheldon hates geology as an adult. I also love the black hole episode because it's just funny and different and weird — really out there but kind of cool to see that we can take those risks."

Season 4 episode 17, titled "A Black Hole,...

Was Daredevil inspired by this Golden Age DC superhero?
Image
Daredevil is coming back on the small screen in a big way with the highly anticipated release of Daredevil: Born Again in March of 2025, which was recently teased during the Looking Ahead trailer Marvel dropped. The character of Daredevil has remained a fan-favorite amongst both hardcore and casual fans alike, with many touting him as one of the best characters in Marvel Comics canon.

But what if I were to tell you that Daredevil bears many striking, almost uncanny, similarities to a DC hero that appeared decades before The Man Without Fear leaped onto the comic page? That's right! Come with me to learn about a somewhat lesser-known but equally awesome character named Doctor Mid-Nite

Doctor Mid-Nite's game-changing origins, explained

There have been a few characters who took on the mantle of Doctor Mid-Nite over the years, but let's discuss the origins of the original Doctor Mid-Nite, who first appeared in All American Comics No.

10 Best Live-Action DC Shows, Ranked
Image
DC has produced many high-quality TV shows over the years, with key aspects that make many stand out, and the best of them offer variety for those looking for live-action DC series. While Marvel Studios has been dominating the movie landscape since the MCU started, DC has the upper hand on TV. After all, the Arrowverse's series soared when the Dceu faltered, showing how a shared universe on TV can work.

Recently, director Matt Reeves and his The Batman universe proved once again that is something DC should look into, as The Penguin perfectly expanded upon Robert Pattinson's Batman movie. James Gunn's DC Universe is well aware of the potential that live-action series have. The Dcu already has many announced shows in different stages of development, with Peacemaker season 2 being the franchise's first live-action series to debut, set for a 2025 release. With some shows being more fantastical while others are more grounded,...

Ending One of the Last Vestiges of Blackface in Hollywood

Actor Jason George was a few years into his career when he secured his first starring role in a movie. It was the early 2000s, and he’d been cast as a co-lead in a mountain climbing flick called The Climb. He was excited for the prospect of a break until he walked into a trailer one day and saw a white man “wearing my wardrobe, my helmet, my climbing harness, and they’re putting makeup on him to make him look like me.”

George, who is Black, was stunned.

Will Packer on Switching to Streaming with Peacock’s ‘Praise This’
Image
After making more than $1.4 billion at the box office, producer Will Packer has gotten into the streaming game with “Praise This.”

The Peacock original marks Packer’s first time producing a movie that wasn’t destined for cinemas. While the new distribution plan might seem like a reaction to the hit or miss theatrical business — or the kind of pivot that would happen after a box office bomb, which Packer has yet to suffer, by the way — that’s not what’s behind the change in strategy.

“Malleable” is a word Packer has found himself using quite often in reference to the current state of moviemaking.

“I’ve had a lot of success with movies that were moderately-budgeted breakout theatrical hits,” he tells Variety over tea at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City. “But there are some of my movies that were successful theatrically five to 10 years ago that...

Chlöe Has a Message For Her Critics: "I'm Grateful That People Care Enough to Talk About Me"
Image

Chlöe's mentor and confidant Beyoncé once said, "You know you that b*tch when you cause all this conversation." These days, Chlöe is used to being a trending topic on social media. Not that the 24-year-old singer, songwriter, and actor pays attention to it, seeing as she occasionally removes apps like Twitter and Instagram from her phone when the negative comments get overwhelming.

"It's been hard, difficult, [and] unsettling," Chlöe tells Popsugar of dealing with constant judgment from some of her biggest critics online. "I could go down the whole negative path but I have to learn to not really care and to know that as long as I am being authentically and unapologetically myself, then I'm good."

"Everything that I'm doing right now I've prayed for and God has given it to me."

‘Praise This’ Review: Chloe Bailey and Anjelika Washington Charm as Cousins Competing in Song
Image
In the pleasantly amusing “Praise This,” Chloe Bailey is the self professed nonreligious Sam, a musical artist in the making who finds her niche in Atlanta’s competitive gospel youth choir scene. Director Tina Gordon crafts a musical that’s carried through by a charming cast and highly entertaining ensemble performances. Streaming April 7 on Peacock, “Praise This” adds a mostly delightful entry to the genre, even if it doesn’t offer a unique take. More successfully it acts as a winning introductory calling card to the acting and musical talents of its rising star, the slightly-older sister of upcoming “The Little Mermaid” actor Halle Bailey and one-half of the sibling R&b duo Chloe x Halle.

The story starts with Sam forced to leave Los Angeles by her dad because of some rebellious behavior. He entrusts her care to her aunt and uncle (Kendrick Cross and Janora McDuffie), but the...

Praise This Review: Chloe Bailey Effortlessly Carries Sentimental, Uneven Musical
Image
Praise This is the latest project from Will Packer’s Will Packer Productions and Tim Story’s The Story Company. Directed and co-written by Tina Gordon, this original musical comedy follows a struggling Praise Team that finds its shining light of hope in the wayward wannabe pop star Sam, played by real-life singer Chloe Bailey. Faith and a coming-of-age story come together in a heartwarming, sometimes funny but underwhelming musical comedy that arrives on Peacock in time for Easter.

After acting up and getting arrested in LA, Sam, an aspiring singer and music producer, gets sent to live with her Uncle Larry (Kendrick Cross) in Atlanta. Sam’s nightmare is her cousin Jess’ (Anjelika Washington) dream come true, as the upbeat, quirky church girl has always wanted a sister. Jess is part of a struggling Praise Team for The Oil Factory, the church run by the reformed PG (Tristan Mack Wilds...

“Praise This” Official Trailer Released

The official trailer for the Peacock original film Praise This has just been released. The film will stream exclusively on Peacock on April 7th!

Five-time Grammy nominee Chloe Bailey, star of Grown-ish and half of the sibling musical duo Chloe x Halle, stars in a new cinematic musical event set in the world of Atlanta’s competitive gospel youth choir praise teams.

So, when her father, worried that Sam is associating with a dangerous crowd, moves them from Los Angeles to Atlanta to live with Sam’s sunny cousin, Jess, Sam is . . . not happy.

Chloe Bailey Says She and Her "Praise This" Character Both "[Speak] Things Into Existence"
Image

Art imitates life for Chloe Bailey, who stars in the upcoming movie "Praise This" as an ambitious young singer named Sam whose music career seems to be taking off in a huge way. There are some big differences about her life and Sam's, though - Bailey is already a massive star, and also, "Praise This" follows Sam's journey into the world of competitive gospel youth choirs.

The trailer, released on March 6, finds Sam unhappily stuck in Atlanta after being sent away from Los Angeles for the summer by her concerned father to live with her upbeat cousin Jess (Anjelika Washington). Things start to take off when Jess persuades Sam to join her faltering praise team, and Sam eventually dives in, determined to help the group win a national championship competition while launching her music career.

Jay Garrick Flash's Cameo In Stargirl Finale Explained By Showrunner
Image
Stargirl creator Geoff Johns breaks down the return of John Wesley Shipp's incarnation of The Flash following Jay Garrick's surprising return in the epilogue of the series' season 3 finale. Shipp first portrayed Garrick in season 2 of The CW's The Flash, reprising the role in later seasons of the show while also making his Stargirl debut in season 2. In Stargirl season 3, episode 13, "Frenemies - Chapter Thirteen: The Reckoning", Garrick interrupts Jonathan Shake's The Shade during a guided tour of a Justice Society of America museum 10 years after the events of the series, where he recruited Richard Swift to face a new threat.

During a guest appearance on The Flash Podcast, Johns was asked whether the Stargirl season 3 finale flash-forward epilogue was developed with input from The Flash's showrunner Eric Wallace. Johns confirmed that he had discussed Garrick's appearance with Wallace, but intentionally set it in the future to...

Luke Wilson and Brec Bassinger in Stargirl (2020)
WB Just Canceled Another DC Project
Luke Wilson and Brec Bassinger in Stargirl (2020)
Superheroes face death every day. Courtney Whitmore knew that even before she became the superhero Stargirl, as she inherited the rod that gives her powers from her predecessor Starman, who died fighting the Injustice Society of America. Nonetheless, Stargirl entered the fight and inspired others to do the same, leading to the construction of a new Justice Society of America. But this December, Warner Brothers will succeed where the Shade and Eclipso failed, finally bringing an end to Stargirl.

The third season of the CW series will be its last, something that didn’t come as a surprise to creator Geoff Johns. “With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season,” Johns admitted in a statement (via Deadline). However, he also provides an encouraging update for fans, telling revealing that he and his co-writers “wrote with [potential cancellation] in mind and have delivered what...

Stargirl Cast Members React To Arrowverse Cancelation
Image
Several Stargirl cast members react to the Arrowverse series officially getting canceled. 2022 has not been a good one for The CW and its Arrowverse franchise, as the network has been dealing with new owners behind the scenes. After having merged The WB and Upn into The CW in 2006, the network's owners have sold 75 ownership of it to Nexstar, which has caused a ripple effect across all their ongoing shows. For the Arrowverse, as executive produced by Greg Berlanti, the franchise lost both Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman earlier this year as both shows were axed by The CW after their season finales. While not tied to the Arrowverse, DC TV newcomer Naomi was also canceled after only one season.

While The Flash and Superman & Lois got renewed for season 9 and season 3, respectively, the former will be ending its run in 2023, leaving the latter yet to have its fate decided after its upcoming season.

The CW’s ‘Stargirl’ to End with Season 3
Image
The CW is losing another show. “Stargirl,” the channel’s teen superhero drama, will conclude with its ongoing third season, IndieWire has confirmed.

The show, which airs on Wednesdays, premiered its third season in August. The final episode will now premiere on December 7.

The news comes shortly after The CW was acquired by station group Nexstar, in a deal that has been accompanied by several cancellations and endings for many of the network’s series. In May, ahead of the official deal, the channel canceled over half of its scripted programming lineup. Nexstar officially took control in October, with plans to retool the famously unprofitable channel to focus on acquired programming and cheaper original series. The change was accompanied by CEO Mark Pedowitz stepping down from his post after more than a decade at the channel.

Last week, the channel’s “Nancy Drew” announced it would conclude with its next season,...

‘Stargirl’ to End With Season 3 at The CW
Image
“Stargirl” will come to an end at The CW with Season 3, Variety has confirmed.

The DC series is currently airing its third season, with the finale set to air on Dec. 7. This is the latest CW scripted series to announce it will come to an end following Nexstar’s completion of its acquisition of The CW in October. It was most recently announced that “Nancy Drew” would end with its fourth season, with both “The Flash” and “Riverdale” also coming to an end. The CW also canceled many of its scripted originals back in May.

“Stargirl has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons,” said series creator and executive producer Geoff Johns. “With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season, so we wrote with that in mind and have delivered what I believe to be the best season of Stargirl yet,...

Kobe Bryant Planned to Cameo on ‘Saved by the Bell’ Reboot Days Before His Death
Image
Kobe Bryant is best known for his 20-year career playing basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers, but the Oscar winner always kept a foot in the entertainment industry as well. As it turns out, he came close to racking up one more screen credit before his tragic death in February 2020.

In a new episode of their “Dare We Say” podcast (via Entertainment Weekly), actresses Josie Totah and Alycia Pascual-Peña, who starred on Peacock’s short-lived reboot of “Saved by the Bell” revealed that the basketball legend almost appeared on the show. Bryant had been a fan of the original series and was scheduled to film a cameo on the reboot just days before the helicopter crash that killed him and his daughter.

“A wild tidbit that I don’t think a lot of people know, or, it’s not important at all because obviously, we are the least of importance...

Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant was set to film cameo for Saved By the Bell reboot days before he died
Kobe Bryant
Days before his tragic death, Kobe Bryant was set to cameo in Peacock’s Saved By the Bell reboot, its stars have revealed.

The former American basketball star died in a helicopter crash in January 2020, along with his daughter Giana and seven others.

However, according to Josie Totah and Alycia Pascual-Peña, who played Bayside High students Lexi and Aisha on the shortlived two-season spinoff of the 1984 sitcom of the same name, Bryant was scheduled to make an appearance in the pilot episode.

Speaking on Thursday’s (15 September) episode of their Dare We Say podcast, the two revealed the “wild tidbit” (via Entertainment Weekly).

“I don’t think a lot of people know,” Totah said. “But we were actually supposed to film with Kobe two days after he died.”

She called Bryant’s addition “so surreal”, with Pascual-Peña recalling that the energy on set “shifted greatly” when it came time to...

Welcome to the Neighborhood

Stargirl starts with a bang by using Neil Diamond’s Coming to America song to introduce the new status quo for the series, as Stargirl’s former enemies are now her new neighbors in Blue Valley. Cindy, when not helping the elderly carry their groceries,...
