‘Chicago Fire’: New Details Revealed About Brandon Larracuente’s New Firefighter
Image
“I can say there’s a huge shake-up in the very first episode that portends the big drama to come in Season 14,” says Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman. And that’s coming on the heels of the on- and offscreen drama that ended Season 13! Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) learned they have a baby on the way; Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) was proven innocent of trying to murder his wife’s killer; and it’s been reported over recent months that Daniel Kyri, who plays Darren Ritter, and Jake Lockett, who plays Sam Carver, would no longer be series regulars, while Michael Bradway, who plays Jack Damon, Severide’s younger half brother, is departing because of a scheduling conflict with another project. But there is a new face joining the ranks of Firehouse 51. Brandon Larracuente was cast as ...

Among the latest waves of photos is one from returning star Jocelyn Hudon, which has given fans their first look at Larracuente’s new character.

In the first look photo from the set of Chicago Fire season 14, we see Larracuente’s character suited up in his turnout gear on set alongside Daniel Kyri, David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte, and Miranda Rae Mayo. ‘Chicago Fire’: Daniel Kyri Returning for ‘Limited Time’ in Season 14
Image
Darren Ritter will be written out onscreen in Chicago Fire Season 14 when it premieres on Wednesday, October 1, on NBC. It was announced during Season 13 that Daniel Kyri, who plays the firefighter, was one of two cast members not returning in Season 14, but the finale did not write him out. (Showrunner Andrea Newman had told us ahead of time that was the case and she hoped to have him and Jake Lockett back this fall.) And now, social media posts from August 4 confirm that Kyri will be appear in Season 14 as Ritter. “Back! For a limited time only,” he wrote on an Instagram story of himself, Hanako Greensmith (Violet), and Jocelyn Hudon (Novak) on the set of Firehouse 51. He also reposted Hudon’s Instagram story of himself, David Eigenberg (Herrmann), Christian Stolte (Mouch), Miranda Rae Mayo (Kidd), and Brandon Larracuente (a new series regular) during what looks like a call. See both of them below.

‘Chicago Fire’s Daniel Kyri Teases “Limited Time” Return For Season 14 Following Series Exit
Image
Chicago Fire‘s Daniel Kyri seems to be returning for a period of time for the NBC procedural’s 14th season.

Earlier today, the actor posted a selfie to his Instagram Story opposite co-stars Jocelyn Hudon and Hanako Greensmith with the caption: “Back! For a limited time only,” alongside a peace sign emoji. In another behind-the-scenes image, Kyri could be seen decked out in firefighter gear next to fellow cast members David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte, Miranda Rae Mayo and newcomer Brandon Larracuente.

NBC had no further comment on the matter. Deadline has reached out to Kyri’s reps for additional details.

As we reported exclusively earlier this April, Kyri is exiting the mothership series after Season 13, alongside fellow series regular Jake Lockett. The actor, who has also appeared in One Chicago shows Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med, began his tenure on the Wolf Entertainment drama as recurring character Darren Ritter.

Turns out Daniel Kyri is returning for Chicago Fire season 14 after all
Image
It seems Chicago Fire will get the chance to give Daniel Kyri a proper goodbye after all!

While Kyri is set to exit NBC’s long-running firefighter drama in the upcoming season and will not return as a series regular, he will be back in a limited capacity. “Back for a limited time only,” Kyri wrote as he confirmed his return to Chicago Fire on Instagram, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from the set with costars Hanako Greensmith and Jocelyn Hudon.

At this time, it’s unclear exactly how limited Kyri’s role in season 14 will be, but we’re certain fans will be grateful knowing that we’re going to get an on-screen exit for Ritter rather than the character being written out of the show off-screen. This has been the biggest concern lingering on the minds of fans since it was announced that Kyri and co-star Jake Lockett would...

Chicago Fire Season 14: Daniel Kyri Returns After Season 13 Exit
Image
Three Chicago Fire stars exited the show after season 13, but now one of them is confirmed to come back for season 14, albeit not permanently. NBC let go of Jake Lockett and Daniel Kyri shortly before the season 13 finale. Then, it was announced that Michael Bradway wouldn't return for Chicago Fire season 14, bringing the total cast exits to three.

However, Kyri, who played Darren Ritter, will appear in Chicago Fire season 14, much to everyone's surprise, given his exit following season 13. Kyri posted a photo on his Instagram story (via TVLine) announcing his return. It featured him on set, alongside Hanako Greensmith (Violet Mikami) and Jocelyn Hudon (Lizzie Novak), and the post read, "Back! For a limited time only."

Chicago Fire's Departing Actor Lines Up His Next Big Project (And It's Very Different From Being On The Procedural)
Image
Departing Chicago Fire star, Daniel Kyri, who has played the role of Darren Ritter in the hit procedural since 2018, has lined up his next big project. Kyri appeared in one episode of Chicago Med season 3, before securing the role of Darren in Chicago Fire later that year, and has appeared in more than 130 episodes of the hit show.

'Law & Order’ Season 25 Faces Major Shakeup as a Significant Cast Member Exits
Image
Law & Order faces a major shakeup ahead of its landmark Season 25. Deadline reports that Mechad Brooks, who plays Detective Jalen Shaw, is exiting ahead of the upcoming season. Brooks starred as Detective Shaw for three seasons. Deadline reports that the "parting of ways" was mutual and Brooks is already "exploring other opportunities." Deadline confirms, however, that Tony Goldwyn, Reid Scott, Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi, and Maura Tierney, will return for the Dick Wolf police procedural's 25th season. Brooks' Detective Shaw replaced Anthony Anderson's Detective Kevin Bernad, and now there is a new vacancy at the 2-7 once again. Fans noticed Detective Shaw's quiet, minimal presence in the back-half of Season 24, with Detective Shaw not even in the crossover event with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

'Law & Order' Is Not the Only Show Facing Shake-Ups

It seems that most of the Dick Wolf procedurals are facing changes ahead of their respective seasons.

Chicago Fire shocker! Yet another major character is leaving the show ahead of season 14
Image
Chicago Fire season 14 is shaping up to be a season of change for NBC’s longest-running One Chicago drama. Just months after word broke that the show would be bidding farewell to two longtime cast members, it has been confirmed that yet another major member of the cast is exiting the show ahead of season 14.

As confirmed by TVLine, Michael Bradway will not be returning for Chicago Fire season 14. The news, while disappointing, is not entirely shocking as word of his exit comes on the heels of Prime Video announcing that Bradway has joined the cast of its new show Every Summer After, based on Carley Fortune’s 2022 novel of the same name.

Bradway joined Chicago Fire in season 12 as newbie Jack Damon, a firefighter fresh out of the fire academy. After much speculation about Damon’s motives that he was hiding a secret from both Kidd and Severide, we...

Chicago Fire Loses Another Important Member Of Firehouse 51 Ahead Of Season 14
Image
In a surprising turn of events, another Chicago Fire star is leaving ahead of season 14, following in Jake Lockett and Daniel Kyri's footsteps. News of Lockett and Kyri's (who portray Sam Carver and Darren Ritter in the One Chicago show) departures came a month before season 13's finale, following budget-cut rumors. Now, another cast member is set to leave.

According to a report from Soaps.com, Michael Bradway will not return for Chicago Fire season 14. Bradway has played Jack Damon, Kelly Severide's long-lost half-brother, in the NBC procedural drama for the past two seasons. It seemed like he was becoming a mainstay in the series by the end of Chicago Fire season 13. Alas, that won't be the case.

'Chicago Fire' Loses Another Cast Member Ahead of Season 14
Image
The firehouse is becoming increasingly lonely. Following several other cast member exits, Chicago Fire has lost yet another somewhat recent star ahead of the much-anticipated Season 14. Michael Bradway, who first started playing Jack Damon in Season 12, is hanging up his firefighter uniform for the time being and will not be back in Season 14, according to Soaps. Jack Damon was the half-brother of series lead Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), so his sudden departure is a bit unexpected.

No exact reason was given for Bradway's sudden exit, though it continues the show's recent trend of several other cast members leaving the smash-hit One Chicago franchise. Also no longer returning to the show are Jake Lockettand Daniel Kyri, who played Sam Carver and Darren Ritter. Bradway marks the third cast member to leave the show ahead of the new season, which has understandably stirred up quite a bit of speculation within the Chicago Fire fandom.

"That's the Way He Operates": One Chicago Creator, 54, Reveals If Dick Wolf Plans to Keep Expanding the Franchise [Exclusive]
Image
If Dick Wolf has his way, the One Chicago universe might be getting even bigger.

While walking the red carpet at the Countdown premiere for Prime Video, Derek Haas — co-creator of Chicago Fire and longtime collaborator with Wolf — spoke with Collider's Aidan Kelley about the possibility of One Chicago expanding beyond its current trio of shows. His response? Who else but Dick Wolf?

“Well, if Dick Wolf were here, he’d say yes, I want to expand. So I will just nod to him. He’s one of the great producers of all time. He is relentless, and my feeling is he will have four more ideas and shows before you know it, because that’s the way he operates.”

That’s about as close to a “stay tuned” as it gets in the One Chicago world — and given how dominant the franchise remains, it wouldn’t be surprising if Haas is right.

Chicago Fire’s Latest Casting Move Feels Like a Slap in the Face
Image
Over the last few years, Chicago Fire has had a higher turnover than a fast food joint.

It seems like every season, a fan-favorite character is departing the show and being replaced faster than they can leave.

There has been a lot of spinning and positive twisting from creatives and suits associated with the show as they focus on the positive side of these departures and explain the rationale behind them.

(Peter Gordon/NBC)

But we would be kidding ourselves if we said that it’s all flowers and sunshine for a firehouse that preaches family values and experiences departures every few months.

Chicago Fire is Switching Too Many Things Up

Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett will be leaving Chicago Fire in Season 14, and a recent casting announcement by Variety reveals a replacement has been lined up.

Canceled Dick Wolf Series Star Joins Chicago Fire as New Series Regular for Season 14
Image
A new addition to the cast of Chicago Fire for its upcoming fourteenth season has been revealed. It comes after the actor recently starred in another TV show from Dick Wolf which was canceled after a single season.

Per Variety, Brandon Larracuente has boarded the cast of Chicago Fire for Season 14. The casting is significant as this will be a new series regular. Larracuente's casting follows the exits of Daniel Kyri (Ritter) and Jake Lockett (Sam Carver), as both are not expected to return for Season 14. Character details were not revealed for Larracuente's role, and it remains unknown how Kyri and Lockett will be written out.

Larracuente was one of the stars of Prime Video's On Call, a cop drama executive produced by Dick Wolf. The show will not return for Season 2. Larracuente is also known for roles including The Good Doctor, Party of Five, 13 Reasons Why, and Bloodline.

Chicago Fire season 14 casts first major new addition after dropping 2 series regulars
Image
It seems a new first responder is about to join the ranks of Firehouse 51 in the forthcoming new season of Chicago Fire.

As first reported by Variety, Chicago Fire has cast Brandon Larracuente in a new series regular role for season 14. Interestingly, little is known about exactly who Larracuente will be playing, with no character information provided at this time, but we have to imagine he’ll be playing a new firefighter at 51.

News of Larracuente’s casting comes as Chicago Fire prepares to bid farewell to two series regulars. Ahead of the season 13 finale, word broke that Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett would not be returning for season 14, exiting the show after seven and three seasons, respectively, playing Darren Ritter and Sam Carver. It has not yet been confirmed whether either actor will return in any capacity for season 14, or whether their exits will be handled off-camera.

Brandon Larracuente Joins ‘Chicago Fire’ As Series Regular Amid Efforts To Find New Home For ‘On Call’
Image
As it often happens in the Dick Wolf universe, as one Wolf Entertainment series comes to an end, talent from it gets transferred to another one. The latest example is On Call star Brandon Larracuente who has joined Chicago Fire as a series regular on its upcoming 14th season for NBC. He will play a key member of Firehouse 51.

Larracuente has come on board Chicago Fire after On Call was canceled by Prime Video in early May following failed renewal negotiations with Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television that at one point involved a possible two-season pickup.

As Deadline reported exclusively at the time, the half-hour action police drama, starring Troian Bellisario and Larracuente, was shopped to other platforms, garnering interest from two places. These conversations did not lead to a deal and, a month and a half later, On Call is over for now. Efforts to land a Season 2 pickup continue in the background,...

‘Chicago Fire’ Season 14 Adds a Dick Wolf Alum After Two Major Exits
Image
Following the cancellation of the Dick Wolf-produced half-hour procedural On Call, one of its stars, Brandon Larracuente, is moving on — to another Dick Wolf show. Variety reports that Larracuente has been cast in the upcoming fourteenth season of Chicago Fire, set to premiere this fall on NBC. He joins the long-running procedural in an undisclosed role, but it's being reported that the character will have a significant arc. Larracuente starred alongside Troian Bellisario in On Call as a rookie, but the show was cancelled after the first season.

Larracuente's addition to Chicago Fire does not bode well for On Call. The show had a complicated relationship with Prime Video because even after an initial two-season deal, the streamer opted to pass on the second season. However, they agreed to relinquish the show's rights if it was to find a new home. Peacock was considered a potential new home, according to the latest news.

‘Chicago Fire’ Adds Brandon Larracuente as Series Regular — Replacing Ritter or Carter?
Image
Dick Wolf‘s On Call may have only lasted one season, but one of its stars is moving over to one of his long running, hit series on NBC. Brandon Larracuente has been cast in a series regular role in Chicago Fire Season 14, Variety reports. No character details are available yet, but Firehouse 51 is losing two firefighters in Season 14. During Season 13, it was revealed that Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter) and Jake Lockett (Sam Carver) would both be exiting. (Showrunner Andrea Newman told TV Insider ahead of the finale that they wouldn’t be written out yet and the hope was to bring them back in Season 14 to “give them big exits.”) So, it seems safe to assume that Larracuente’s character could end up on Truck with Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) or there could be some more shuffling around at 51 in Season 14. After all, the Season 13 finale also...

Brandon Larracuente Joins ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 14 in Key Role (Exclusive)
Image
Firehouse 51 is getting a new staff member. Brandon Larracuente has joined “Chicago Fire” as a series regular ahead of Season 14.”

The addition comes following the news of Season 13’s exits: Daniel Kyri, who has portrayed Ritter since Season 7, and Jake Lockett, who has played Sam Carver since Season 11, are not set to return for Season 14. However, neither of their character’s storylines hinted at an exit, so it’s still to be determined how they will be written off the show. Both began their “Chicago Fire” roles as recurring characters that were later bumped up to series regulars.

Larracuente last starred on “On Call,” the Prime Video half-hour drama executive produced by Dick Wolf. The series was the first streaming drama from Wolf but will not continue for a second season. Larracuente’s credits include “The Good Doctor,” “Party of Five,” “13 Reasons Why” and “Bloodline.”

Despite Controversial Renewal Decision, ‘Chicago P.D.’ & ‘Chicago Fire’ See Huge Streaming Spikes
Image
One of the longest-running franchises on television is Dick Wolf's Windy City One Chicago universe, which includes Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. In the aftermath of all three shows ending their respective seasons for the 2024/2025 broadcast lineup, it was revealed that NBC gave all the One Chicago shows new season orders. However, the renewals did not come without a catch: budget cuts. These budget cuts are rumored to affect shows like Chicago P.D. and Chicago Fire, which will look to minimize production expenses by reducing how much screen time certain series regulars have going forward. Despite this controversial decision, the streaming numbers for Chicago P.D. and Chicago Fire have seen a streaming spike.

Chicago Fire is the first installment in the Dick Wolf franchise, having premiered in 2012 and having run for 13 seasons with a combined total of over 270 episodes to date. The show follows the professional and...

Why Jack Lockett's Sam Carver Left Chicago Fire
Image
Dick Wolf's "One Chicago" franchise has been one of NBC's most reliable Nielsen ratings performers since its flagship show, "Chicago Fire," debuted in the fall of 2012. Aside from the ill-fated, semi-redundant "Chicago Justice" (which only lasted 13 episodes in 2017), the series and its spinoffs, "Chicago P.D." and "Chicago Med," seem every bit as unkillable as Wolf's "Law & Order" franchise. As long as the shows' fans keep tuning in every week, these Windy City procedurals ain't goin' nowhere.

Alas, the cast members aren't guaranteed to stick around for quite as long. Fans were reminded of this when, prior to the conclusion of the show's 13th season, it was announced that Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett would not be returning to the show in the fall. Obviously, long-running series like "Chicago Fire" need viewers to sense that every character is human and, thus, vulnerable to an unexpectedly fatal end, but this...

Why Daniel Kyri's Darren Ritter Left Chicago Fire
Image
"Chicago Fire" is a little different from your average procedural, with firefighters and paramedics at the center of the story instead of detectives, lawyers, or quirky private investigators. Over the course of the show's 13 seasons, we've gotten to know a whole incredible crew of people at the fictional Firehouse 51 in Chicago, but if the series gets a 14th season, at least one familiar face won't be returning. "Chicago Fire" fans have lost their faves before, like when Otis (Yuri Sardanov) died in season 8, but now they'll also have to say goodbye to firefighter Darren Ritter (who's played by actor Daniel Kyri).

Darren has had an interesting ride on "Chicago Fire," starting as a firefighter candidate and becoming one of the firefighters on Engine 51. As an openly gay man, he shook things up a bit around the firehouse, giving Kyri the chance to really embrace his own queer identity and abandon...

New Chicago Med season 11 casting update has us worried about this original character
Image
Heading into the new season of Chicago Med, there are a lot of questions on the minds of fans, due in large part to the many unresolved questions left by the finale cliffhangers. Fans have been speculating for weeks already about what the new season could hold and where the finale storylines might take things next, but there’s another more pressing question circulating among viewers: Could we be losing any members of the cast?

It’s a question that has been understandably on the minds of fans after it was reported that additional One Chicago departures were a strong possibility in the wake of Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett’s exits from Chicago Fire. This is a reasonable concern given the One Chicago shows are all getting up there in season count with each show past the ten-season marker.

The good news is that it has now been confirmed...

Chicago Fire just confirmed 3 returning cast members for season 14
Image
Goodbyes might be coming in Chicago Fire season 14, but it seems there are three characters we don’t have to worry about leaving NBC’s hit series!

As first reported by Deadline, NBC has inked new deals with three core members of the Chicago Fire cast to ensure their return for the upcoming season. Set to return are Taylor Kinney, Miranda Rae Mayo, and Dermot Mulroney, who have all closed new deals to continue on NBC’s original One Chicago drama. This will guarantee that we won’t have to worry about saying goodbye to Severide, Kidd, or Chief Pascal in the upcoming season.

It honestly makes sense that this is the trio Wolf Entertainment and NBC worked to lock down first for the new season. Kidd and Severide are the show’s central couple and are in the midst of a major storyline with the season 13 finale revealing the...

One Chicago Locks in Cast for Next Season — How Many Episodes Are We Getting?
Image
It isn’t the best time to be a fan of a long-running drama on the broadcast networks.

Many beloved shows have been cut short this year, so it’s a miracle that Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. will remain intact next season on Wednesday evenings.

The best news to take from it?

(Peter Gordon/NBC)

The Chicago trifecta are consistent performers, and NBC is well aware that too many changes are not a good thing.

But it hasn’t made the last few months easy, especially with Chicago Fire introducing budget cuts in the form of a character named The Padlock.

(Peter Gordon/NBC)

We’ve known for a while now that Jake Lockett and Daniel Kyri were both on the way out of the original show in the franchise.

And now, we finally have some intel on who will be back for Chicago Fire Season 14.

One...

Chicago Fire boss warns that goodbyes are coming in season 14: 'Everything’s going to get shaken up
Image
Chicago Fire season 14 might not arrive until this fall, but we’re going to be spending the summer worrying about our favorite characters on NBC’s hit drama! This is because it seems the upcoming season of the One Chicago drama will be bringing about some unexpected goodbyes, and we’re not sure anyone will be immune from the cuts that are coming our way!

Late in the season, it was teased that layoffs could be coming to the Chicago Fire Department due to impending budget cuts. The line wasn’t simply tossed out there for dramatic effect. No, it seems layoffs will indeed be coming to the Cfd in season 14, and this is going to bring about some major changes within the department that will impact Firehouse 51.

“We’re going to have a lot of turnover,” Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman warned when speaking with TVLine recently, “and a...

"That Is Definitely Happening": ‘Chicago Fire’ Showrunner Teases a “Lot of Turnover” for Firehouse 51 in Season 14
Image
The Cfd is looking at some major changes in Chicago Fire Season 14. A department-wide initiative aims to reduce costs, which may result in the permanent removal of certain programs, items, and workers. Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman told TV Line that layoffs and cuts in their show are inspired by what's happening in our world. "It’s very real to the Cfd," she said. The show did not introduce an auditor to craft and out for their departing characters. "[It] wasn’t even done intentionally for that, but because it’s so in the zeitgeist, people coming in and gutting departments and gutting places, it’s very real to the Cfd. They’ve done that, too,” the showrunner said. "And so, that is definitely happening next season," she continued, then added:

“We’re going to have a lot of turnover and a lot craziness going on in the Cfd from the top,...

Chicago Fire EP Warns Cfd Layoffs Will Cause ‘A Lot of Turnover’ Next Season: ‘Everything’s Going to Get Shaken Up’

The shake-ups at Firehouse 51 are just getting started.

During Chicago Fire’s recent season finale, Herrmann admitted that a desk job, like chief, is not for him and went to Commissioner Grissom with a proposition. Herrmann stepped down to be a regular firefighter so that his friend Mouch could step up as Engine’s lieutenant. The efficiency expert’s warning in an earlier episode that layoffs and forced resignations are coming was on top of Herrmann’s mind as he made his decision.

Do Carver and Violet Have a Romantic Future in ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 14? The Showrunner Has Answers
Image
There was much to admire in the Chicago Fire Season 13 finale. Unexpected pregnancies, career changes, and murder acquittals were all rolled into what was a beautifully crafted event. Prior to the season finale airing, there had been rumors of the possible departure of both Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett. Kyri has played the lovable Darren Ritter since Season 7 and Lockett came onboard as the complicated Sam Carver in Season 11. Despite the prospect of Carver departing, the show saw it fit to finally bring the firefighter and his colleague, Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith), together romantically. With Carver's prospective departure, where does that leave the pair after their kiss and professions of love?

Showrunner Andrea Newman spoke to TV Line, discussing the big kiss and declarations of love between Carver and Violet. In the aftermath of those romantic moments, Carver revealed to Violet he was possibly taking a job in Denver. So,...

Chicago Fire boss hints Ritter will be back for season 14 for a proper sendoff
Image
Heading into the Chicago Fire season 13 finale, there were a lot of hopes from fans over what the final episode of the season would bring. Chief among them was a hope that the show would address or, at least, lay the groundwork for the previously announced departures of Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett as Darren Ritter and Sam Carver, respectively.

In the finale, the Chicago Fire writers began to lay the groundwork for Carver’s exit. As we learned in the episode, Carver made the difficult decision to leave Chicago and applied for a position in Denver in realizing that he needed a change of scenery in order to maintain his sobriety. Disappointing as it was to learn that Carver was leaving Chicago (especially after he and Violet professed their love for one another), his forthcoming exit was at least addressed.

The same, sadly, cannot be said for Ritter. Throughout the episode,...
