Vikings Valhalla Season 2 Ending Explained
Image
Warning: spoilers for Vikings: Valhalla season 2.

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 saw Harald and Leif traveling to Constantinople to get funds for Harald's army. An assassination attempt on Emma of Normandy led her to discover Godwin's betrayal. Freydis killed Olaf and took control of Jomsborg, freeing its people and giving them the safe place they deserve.

The second season of Vikings: Valhalla was full of surprises for Freydis (Frida Gustavsson), Leif (Sam Corlett), Harald (Leo Suter), and Queen Emma (Laura Berlin), and the finale makes way for some exciting and potentially disastrous stories for all of them. Set over 100 years after the events of Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla tells the stories of Greenland siblings Leif Erikson and Freydis Eiriksdottir, Norwegian prince Harald Sigurdsson and his half-brother Olaf Haraldsson (Jhannes Haukur Jhannesson), and Queen Emma of Normandy. After the destruction of Kattegat at the end of Vikings: Valhalla season 1, Leif unleashed his inner berserker,...

Season 2 debuted in January, and as Vikings: Valhalla continues to receive praise, a lot of anticipation surrounds its future episodes.

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 introduced Jomsborg and established its status moving forward. Now, it looks like the next installment of the show will feature additional new settings.

Vikings: Valhalla Season 3 Needs To Fix Leif's Story
Image
Vikings: Valhalla season 2 continued the stories of Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Freydis (Frida Gustavsson), and Harald (Leo Suter), but it also carried on with a big Leif Erikson mistake that season 3 will have to fix. After the attack on Kattegat led by Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson), Vikings: Valhalla season 2 caught up with the previously mentioned characters as they hid from Olaf’s army and tried to find a safe place. Leif eventually reunited with Freydis and Harald, although briefly as they met a Jomsviking named Jorundr (Stanislav Callas), who took Freydis to Jomsborg while Harald and Leif went on a different adventure.

Although Vikings: Valhalla season 1 ended with Leif unleashing his inner berserker, season 2 left that behind and followed Leif and Harald to Novgorod and then to Constantinople. Season 2 also gave Leif a new romance thanks to Mariam (Hayat Kamille), an astronomer who taught him how to read and...

What Happened To Olaf Haraldsson In Real Life (& How Did He Die?)
Image
Warning: spoilers for Vikings: Valhalla season 2.

Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson) established himself as a villain in the first season of Vikings: Valhalla and continued to serve as one in season 2, but what happened in real life and how does his fate in the series compare to what really happened to him? As a sequel series to the TV series Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla is set over 100 years after the events of the main series, and as such, it follows new generations of characters who, in different ways, continue the legacy of the main characters in Vikings.

Following the destruction of Kattegat, the arrival of King Sweyn Forkbeard (Søren Pilmark) with his fleet, Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett) unleashing his inner berserker, and Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) and Harald (Leo Suter) running away, Vikings: Valhalla season 2 catches up with them as Kattegat adapts to a new reign. Meanwhile, in England, Queen Emma (Laura Berlin...

How Vikings Valhalla's Jomsvikings Compare To The Real Life Versions
Image
Warning: spoilers for Vikings: Valhalla season 2.

Vikings: Valhalla introduced a new place and group of warriors: Jomsborg and the Jomsvikings, and here’s how the show’s version of these warriors compares to the real-life ones. Although Vikings: Valhalla is the sequel series of Vikings, it follows a new generation of warriors and royals as it’s set over 100 years after the main series. Still, Vikings: Valhalla has referenced the legacy of characters like Ragnar Lothbrok and Rollo, and Kattegat continues to be a main setting, but season 2 introduced a new place that could become even more important than Kattegat.

As Kattegat adapted to a new reign, Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson) put a price on Leif (Sam Corlett), Harald (Leo Suter), and Freydis’ (Frida Gustavsson) heads, so Leif and Harald left to Nóvgorod while Freydis was taken to Jomsborg. While running away from Kattegat, the trio came across Jorundr...

The Real Life Harekr & Jorundr From Vikings Valhalla Explained
Image
Warning: spoilers for Vikings: Valhalla season 2

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 took Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) and viewers to Jomsborg, where she met its leader, Harekr (Bradley James), and one of its best warriors, Jorundr (Stanislav Callas), but are these two characters based on real-life people? Although Vikings: Valhalla, just like its predecessor, Vikings, is based on historical events, people, places, and more, it’s not always historically accurate, and in some cases, the show has taken names from real-life people and given them a completely new story, while other characters are a combination of different people.

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 continues exploring the final years of the Viking Age, and for that, it takes viewers to Jomsborg, where Jorundr takes Freydis as she’s the “last daughter of Uppsala” and “the keeper of the faith”. There she meets Harekr, the leader of Jomsborg, who isn’t as benevolent as he seems, and he soon shows his true colors,...

Season two of Netflix’s Vikings: Valhalla starring Sam Corlett as Leif Eriksson will premiere on January 12, 2023. The premiere date announcement for the second season of the Vikings sequel also included the first batch of photos from the new season.

“The whole concept of Season 2 is that we take these three heroes who are in Scandinavia and blow them out of their comfort zones,” said creator/showrunner Jeb Stuart in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “Season 2 for Harald and Leif is a road trip: It’s Thelma and Louise on the Dnieper River. The two of them will begin this incredible journey. Freydís has to go to Pomerania, which is a very difficult environment.”

In addition to Sam Corlett, returning cast members include Frida Gustavsson as Freydis Eriksdotter,...
