Lauren Southern, the Canadian YouTuber who was once a rising star on the far right thanks to her hardline anti-immigrant and anti-feminist views but later retreated from the scene, has alleged in her new self-published memoir, This Is Not Real Life , that she was sexually assaulted by embattled misogynist influencer Andrew Tate in 2018, when she was 22 years old.
The accusation, detailed in excerpts Southern shared today on her Substack page, adds to an already lengthy list of allegations of rape and human trafficking against Tate and his brother Tristan, some...

Alright, Gachiakuta exploded onto the scene with crazy artwork, a harsh world, and a protagonist who gets literally tossed out with the trash. Meet Rudo Surebrec, a kid from the slums, falsely accused of murder, and sentenced to death by being tossed into the Pit, an endless garbage dump of terror and discarded human beings. But instead of dying? He survives. He fights. He rises.
Created by Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou, Gachiakuta is the sort of manga that awakens you with attitude and then stabs your heart with emotion. And Rudo? He’s not just another edgy anti-hero. He’s the heart of the series, driven by anger, sorrow, and a burning desire to find the truth in his distorted world.

Taiwan Creative Content Agency (Taicca) has announced a strategic partnership with animation school Gobelins Paris at Annecy’s film-tv market MIFA.
As shared with the audience, the new collaboration aims to “cultivate animation talents from Taiwan, support the development of original IPs for children and young adults, and strengthen Taiwan’s connections with the global animation industry.”
The partners will co-organize the Create Your Own IP International Animation Workshop, a training program designed to help emerging Taiwanese creators and professionals develop original children’s animation IPs. The workshop will cover storytelling, visual development, character and world design, as well as pitching strategies.
Cecile Blondel, director of international development at Gobelins Paris, noted that “Taiwanese creators offer fresh, compelling ideas, though turning them into strong visual stories can be challenging.” The workshop will hopefully “bridge the gap.”

When Friends first hit our screens in 1994, it wasn’t just coffee that was brewing at Central Perk—drama, laughs, and a whole lotta “we were on a break!” were, too. The world instantly fell for the quirky gang: Ross, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Monica, and Chandler.
But let’s face it—Ross and Rachel were the will-they-won’t-they that kept us on the edge of our couches. From Rachel crashing into their lives in a wedding dress to Ross pining like it’s 1994 forever, these two were endgame… kinda.
So pivot your attention, because we need to talk about that whole Ross/Rachel/Emily mess.
Why Emily from Friends was never the villain we made her out to be David Schwimmer as Ross Geller and Helen Baxendale Emily Waltham in Friends| Credits: NBC
“He said Rachel at the altar!” — and just like that, Ross Geller pulled the ultimate Friends faux pas.

In a world of Marie Kondo-inspired minimalism and ever-shrinking living spaces, ITV’s Tonight tackles the universal problem of clutter. Thursday’s episode, “Keep, Chuck or Cash-In? The Big Clear Out,” isn’t just about tidying up; it’s about turning that dusty box of forgotten treasures into cold, hard cash. Because let’s face it, while decluttering is virtuous, […]

Angel Studios, the company behind the surprise box-office smash “Sound of Freedom,” is going public. The announcement last week of a merger for purposes of an IPO valued at $1.6 billion was a shock to the Hollywood system — especially because Angel Studios’ unique Angel Guild program already made it kind of public.
The faith-based distributor, raised from the remnants of the VidAngel app, is currently owned by its co-founder and CEO Neal Harmon and his brothers. But soon it could be you.
Angel Studios will merge with Southport Acquisition Company, a Spac (special purposes acquisition company) that exists solely for this moment.
SPACs are often referred to as “blank-check” companies — basically, they are publicly-traded shell companies that exist solely to organize the financing necessary to purchase a real company, which then essentially takes the Spac’s slot. They were huge in the dot-com era, but less common today.

Look up. That’s where Kevin Prince and Michelle Ritorto found the inspiration to launch their new agency, a creative drone show firm dedicated to creative marketing and storytelling in the sky. It’s called Heads in the Sky Drones, aka Hits Drones.
The agency strategizes, conceptualizes, collaborates and executes premium drone shows with Hollywood brands and talent. It also provides the “Drone Zone,” a revolving red carpet and event drone content capture service as a way to connect fans and celebrities, similar to a glam cam. Hits Drones launched a few months back and has already built up a stable of clients like Netflix, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony Pictures, ABC and Cinespia.
Its work has been featured at major events including the Netflix premiere of Jennifer Lopez’s Atlas, Amazon MGM’s Challengers, Sony’s Fly Me to the Moon starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, the Harry Potter-themed...

On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.

Fans of 90 Day Fianc have seen drama with Shekinah, Stephanie Matto, and Danielle, along with many breakups. Pedro Jimeno has been focused on his real estate career post-divorce, winning awards and staying busy selling homes. Pedro has transformed his personal life, buying a new home and dating someone who resembles his ex-wife Chantel.
Throughout the history of the 90 Day Fianc franchise, fans have seen a lot of drama. For example, Shekinah felt disrespected by Sarper, Stephanie Matto's supposedly normal job was sketchy, and there is a reason why fans think Danielle is the worst. Then, of course, there are the franchise's many breakups and their aftermaths.
As fascinating as it was when Big Ed got a new girlfriend following his split from Liz Woods, most 90 Day Fianc fans know about that. On the other hand, many fans of the spin-off show The Family Chantel don't know what Pedro Jimeno has...

Netflix reality star Daniel Daggers had prior experience on a hit show before Buying London. The Parisian Agency: Exclusive Properties was highly rated, featuring Daniel Daggers. Daniel Daggers' real estate career began after an injury ended his sports aspirations.
For a long time, Netflix was known for original movies that starred big names and TV shows that were headlined by A-listers. Over time, however, having a Netflix subscription became a must for anyone who considers themselves to be a reality TV junkie.
After all, Netflix is the home of shows like Selling Sunset which show rich and gorgeous people moving incredibly expensive real estate. Netflix also became the place to watch a British show with the same concept, titled Buying London. What many Buying London fans don't realize is the show's star, Daniel Daggers, starred in a different Netflix reality show first.

Van Partible's animated series "Johnny Bravo" debuted on the Cartoon Network on July 14, 1997. It was one of four new shows that Cartoon Network premiered in 1997 and 1998 that served as a declaration for a new creator-forward direction the network was taking. "Johnny Bravo" debuted alongside Genndy Tartakovsky's "Dexter's Laboratory," David Feiss' "Cow and Chicken," and Craig McCracken's "The Powerpuff Girls." In 1999, that lineup would be complemented by "Ed, Edd n Eddy," and "Courage the Cowardly Dog." These shows were all quirky and idiosyncratic and attracted a generation of fans.
"Johnny Bravo" was about a barrel-chested, Elvis-voiced lug who lived with his mother and attempted to find love in the big city. His buffoonery and vanity, however, usually kept him single. Johnny was played by prolific voice actor Jeff Bennett, who has been acting professionally since 1991. Van Partible had been working on a version of the show as early...

The Lord of the Rings co-stars Elijah Wood and Sean Astin reunited onstage Saturday at the 2024 SAG Awards. And that’s where Wood learned about a missing trophy.
The two, who played hobbits Frodo and Sam in Peter Jackson’s Lotr movie trilogy, were on stage to present the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role. That went to Da’Vine Joy Randolph for her role in The Holdovers.
Before that, Wood and Astin remarked on time’s passing after a clip was played of Astin accepting the Best Film Ensemble win at the 2004 SAG Awards for The Lord Of the Rings: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King while noting the absence of fellow stars Wood and Viggo Mortensen.
“How’s it been 20 years?” Wood asked Astin, who replied, “It’s been 20 years and yet I’m sorry you couldn’t be there that night.

“We’re in the mood for a little vivisection.”
We’ve all heard the saying “less is more.” Marie Kondo championed this minimalist sentiment when convincing us to rid our homes of unwanted items and Coco Chanel lived by the rule of taking one accessory off before leaving the house. We’re not sure Peter Jackson has ever heard this saying as his films tend to be extravaganzas filled with lavish plotting, eccentric characters, and over-the-top effects. And we’re not mad about it. Years before he wowed the world with expansive adaptations of J.R.R. Much like the immortal meme of Marie Kondo, I too love mess.
Ms. Kondo was a particular fan of messes she or others could clean up and cull down to manageable levels, and I suppose the same is true for my and the IndieWire TV team’s love of on-screen mess. There is a special recipe for lovable TV trainwreck which doesn’t include behind-the-scenes discomfort and drama, turgid storytelling, or unwatchable performances. The best bonkers TV should exist precisely on the border between pure satire and melodrama; it should be eminently watchable even at its worst — and its worst should also somehow be its best.
And, in the case of Apple’s “The Morning Show,” megawatt star power is a must.

Peacock's The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning follows three "Death Cleaners" from Sweden as they enter American homes and help people rid themselves of their unnecessary junk before the die. Think Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, but for the dying. Despite its grim title, helped by narration by Amy Poehler, the reality tv series is branded as a comedy. The only issue with the moniker "Death Cleaning" is that in every episode except one, their clients aren't due to die. Having binged the season, organizer Ella Engström, designer Johan Svenson, and psychologist Katarina Blom are great at their jobs of helping people purge their unwanted posessions, but are they really “death cleaning” if their clients are happy and healthy?...

Though Donald Trump is facing federal charges with his second indictment — of possibly more to come — he is still running for president, and has sworn up and down that he will remain in the race no matter what happens. For “The View” moderator Whoopi Goldberg, that’s a terrifying prospect — one that has her advocating for a new amendment to the Constitution.
To kick off Thursday’s Hot Topics discussion, the women of “The View” criticized Trump’s former VP, and current presidential hopeful, Mike Pence, along with other Republicans who have indicated that they would potentially pardon Trump. And, while the hosts were all unanimously disgusted by that idea, Whoopi admitted that “none of this makes any difference.”

As Donald Trump continues to try and claim he was within his rights to keep classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort, even amid being arraigned on federal charges that say otherwise, “The View” host Joy Behar can’t help but laugh. Decluttering has become an industry in itself in recent years, with Hoarders prompting TV viewers to recoil in shock at the sight of dwellings stacked to the brim with stuff and Marie Kondo teaching readers The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Let there never be a doubt that a buck can be made off human slovenliness. But even with this glut there’s a place for The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, the new Peacock series based on Margareta Magnusson’s book of the same name. With a big heart,...

Between rising interest rates, failing banks, a crypto winter and a stock market that is vacillating between bullish and bearish on a seemingly daily basis, money is top of mind for almost everyone these days.
Enter Netflix, which will release a new unscripted series next month seemingly made for this moment, taking a Marie Kondo approach to money.
Called How To Get Rich, the series will see author and financial adviser Ramit Sethi travel the country helping people master their finances. The show will debut its 8 episodes on Netflix on April 18. Yes, that’s Tax Day here in the U.S., a day when money will likely be top of mind for many people.
The series, based on Sethi’s 2009 book I Will Teach You To Be Rich, is from Studio Lambert, the producer of Undercover Boss and The Circle.

You would need a heart of stone to leave Rebecca Miller’s She Came to Me without wanting to pick up sticks and live on a tugboat, preferably one steered by Marisa Tomei.
Tomei’s tugboat captain Katrina, with her softly weathered face, earthy humor and somewhat sociopathic “love” addiction, is a simply fabulous romcom heroine, if She Came to Me can be described as a romcom. And in Peter Dinklage, at his most darkly glowering as the perpetually panic-stricken, creatively blocked composer Katrina targets with her romantic zeal, she has her perfect foil. Props to Berlin Film Festival artistic director Carlo Chatrian for nailing She Came to Me: light but pungent, it is a perfect opener.
Not that this is a two-horse show: in the screwball tradition, there is much more going on here than a middle-aged meet-cute. At the outset, Miller swings between the rarefied opulence of...

Marie Kondo has become the go-to expert for decluttering one’s home, thanks to her Netflix series “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” and “Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo”.
During a recent webinar promoting her new book, Marie Kondo’s Kurashi at Home: How to Organize Your Space and Achieve Your Ideal Life, Kondo admitted that since welcoming her third child with husband Takumi Kawahara, she’s taken on something of a “do as I say not as I do” approach when it comes to her own home.
“My home is messy, but the way I am spending my time is the right way for me at this time at this stage of my life,” she explained in Japanese through an interpreter, as reported by the Washington Post.

Marie Kondo delivered a shock to fans during a recent webinar to promote her latest book, “Marie Kondo’s Kurashi at Home: How to Organize Your Space and Achieve Your Ideal Life.” The decluttering queen is no longer tidying up as much after giving birth to her third son, or as Kondo put it, “My house is messy” (via The Washington Post).
Kondo became an international phenomenon in 2019 with the launch of her Netflix reality series “Tidying Up,” in which she helped people clean up their messy homes and declutter their spaces in an attempt to restore calmness and “spark joy” in their lives. While Kondo has long been devoted to decluttering “physical” spaces, her new book also stresses the importance of cleaning up mental and emotional spaces. In other words, keeping your clothes folded and organized can be just as important as listening to classical music in the morning...

Get out your magnifying glasses and dust off that notebook, because The Masked Singer is back to turn a nation of viewers into sofa detectives.
Helmed once again by comedian Joel Dommett, the unique competition shows 13 mystery celebrities singing familiar tunes on stage, while dressed up in a costume obscuring who they really are.
Guessing along with the in-studio audience and the viewers at home are the judges: Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
In the season’s first episode on New Year’s Day, Ghost was eliminated and was later revealed to be football star Chris Kamara.
Still, there’s a long season ahead, with plenty more costumes to be unmasked. Here’s a guide to the clues and guesses so far.
Who is Otter?
Otter first appeared in episode one with a passionate performance of Jimi Jamison’s “I’m Always Here” – also known as the Baywatch theme tune.

It's a new year and I'm sure we're all tired of Top 10 lists, but here's one more before we say adieu to 2022! My list makes no sense as a whole — there are major blockbusters and indies, films truly epic in scope and some that are more intimate fare. I took the Marie Kondo approach to this list — every film here brought me joy. Sometimes that joy was terrible joy, and sometimes it was light, fluffy, and cozy joy. I need both in my life, depending on how I'm feeling, and these films all helped keep me afloat through the past year.
Before I get to the final list, I want to give shout-outs to some who didn't make the Top 10, such as "Rrr", the cheeseburger from "The Menu," Robert Pattinson's emo Caped Crusader in "The Batman," and the bromance between Nic Cage and Pedro Pascal in "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK season 4's Le Fil believes that the judges have been favoring certain queens in the competition. This comes after Le Fil was eliminated from the show after portraying Marie Kondo in the iconic Drag Race challenge Snatch Game. Le Fil had a few episodes of placing in the bottom, and even when she seemed like a stand-out, the judges didn't see it the same way. Le Fil had the chance to save herself in a lip sync for her life against fellow contestant Black Peppa.
Le Fil could tell the Drag Race judges were not seeing her full potential and admitted that they may be biased. In an interview with Digital Spy, Le Fil said, "Not being positively received, it was disheartening." Even when Le Fil was the leader of a challenge, the judges seemed to think she was fading into the background. Le Fil also...

After the exuberance of the Cannes market in May and the disappointment that some experienced at Toronto, this week’s American Film Market is expected to settle into a much more familiar range.
If “new normal” is one of those phrases that has lost its meaning through overuse, the AFM this year is expected to operate at something approaching “near normal.”
“Cannes was an experiment for many folks. This is the market that people are coming to in order to do business. You can feel it in the way that we’re approaching it,” says Jean Prewitt.
“Everybody is still enthusiastic. And for problem areas, they’ll tell you that costs are going up. They’re not sure about whether or not they can have a theatrical release. But the rules are still the same. You have to have the quality of content and the talent. And somebody’s going to want to buy it.

Trevor Noah thinks that Donald Trump may need a bit of help getting Mar-a-Lago back in tip-top shape once the FBI finishes its investigation — and he knows the perfect person for the job.
“Over the weekend, we finally got a detailed rundown of what the FBI took away,” he said during Tuesday night’s episode of “The Daily Show.” “There were 31 documents labeled ‘confidential.’ There were 54 labeled ‘secret,’ and 18 labeled ‘top secret.’ Even better than that, agents found those documents intermingled in the same boxes as magazine clippings and clothing.”
He added: “So, I guess Trump has a legal problem and a hoarding problem. After the FBI is done with Trump, we need to send in Marie Kondo just to be like, ‘does this 1987 copy of Playboy spark joy Donald?'”

There's, of course, nothing funny about the shocking wave of state governments working to strip trans people of their rights. Why, then, was it a recent topic of conversation on the June 15 episode of Michelle Buteau and Jordan Carlos's comedy podcast "Adulting?" During the episode, recorded live (as some of "Adulting"'s installments are), guest Alok - a gender non-conforming writer - emotionally discussed some of the recent actions taken against supporting trans people in their home state of Texas. Alok mentioned their book, "Beyond the Gender Binary," is being targeted among publications the Texas Republican legislature wants to ban. Then, they followed up that harrowing fact with a joke about Marie Kondo's "Spark Joy" home tidying guide somehow being omitted from the ban list.
Pairing levity and humor with thoughtful discussions of some of society's most pressing issues is not a new concept, but it is one that Buteau,...

Someone call in Marie Kondo, because Big Brother‘s 24th season has gotten messy.
To be clear, I say that with the utmost appreciation for mess: Big Brother has been stuck in a predictable, let’s-vote-with-the-house rut for many seasons, and it’s a delight to see the opposite situation playing out here. But between Kyle’s ill-advised showmance with Alyssa, Nicole’s correct suspicion that most of The Leftovers are working together, and, of course, Daniel’s insane decision to use the Power of Veto and endanger his No. 1 ally, this week in the Bb house has been undeniably (and wonderfully) chaotic.

One year ago, the team behind NBC’s “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” was devastated when the broadcast network pulled the plug on the musical series after two seasons. At the time, the show’s cast, as well as creator Austin Winsberg, were vocal about how sad they were about the untimely end; after pitching it around and hoping for a pickup, it seemed to be dead in the water.
And then the Roku Channel came around and offered a chance to wrap it up in the shape of a movie; the two-hour holiday pic focused on the Clarke family’s first Christmas without patriarch Mitch (Peter Gallagher), who died at the end of the first season.
“We had ended Season 2 on a massive cliffhanger, but we had many new stories we still wanted to tell,” says Winsberg. “To be able to create a resolution, give the fans clarity and live with...

“Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber,” Showtime’s limited series about Travis Kalanick’s period as CEO of the rideshare company, runs on a simple either-or proposition. Kalanick focused all of his energies on the success of the corporation he ran, at the expense of his employees’ well-being and physical safety, as well as of ethics, labor practices and the law. This made him either a terrible boss or — as he sees it — the optimal one.
That this question is so easily answered accounts for why “Super Pumped” is such a punishing watch. Kalanick’s delusions and shortfalls as a manager were all explored in journalist Mike Isaac’s book of the same name, the source material for this series. While Uber was phenomenally successful at transforming the economy and bringing to heel local taxi services, Kalanick himself resigned from the company, amid scandal, in 2017. The success of Knives Out and Murder on the Orient Express has led to a full-throated return of the keep-em-guessing murder mystery
Surprise is not much of a factor in Death on the Nile, Kenneth Branagh’s second gaudy, glossy all-star adaptation of an Agatha Christie chestnut. As with its predecessor, 2017’s marginally worse Murder on the Orient Express, this old-school mystery pulls from a source text so well-known that its twists have practically become embedded genre tropes; even if you don’t know the oft-told story, you can guess your way through it on cliches and character types alone.
Decked out with chintzy CGI, stiff performances and enough processed cheese to fill the Nile, it’s not exactly a good film – even “proficient” feels like a stretch – but it is an oddly comforting one. Watching Branagh’s absurdly moustachioed Hercule Poirot waddle through the motions of supposedly expert crime-solving – as bloodied,...

Late in “The Starling,” at a stage when Melissa McCarthy’s grieving mother has never felt more distant from her withdrawn husband, she receives a pep talk from Kevin Kline’s wise confidante about the titular bird. When starlings mate, he explains, they build and protect their nest together: “They’re just not meant to exist in the world alone.” “Real subtle stuff,” she responds, with a trademark McCarthy grimace.
It’s a bit rich at this point for “The Starling” to lampshade such a cornily obvious metaphor, given that Theodore Melfi’s film has already given us ample scenes of McCarthy’s character growing and nurturing a vegetable garden from scratch on dried-out, weed-strewn land, defending it from the aforementioned starlings as they themselves forge a home of their own from scraps and trash, and cathartically ridding her house of all its furniture for good measure. What could it all mean?...
