It appears Jesse Eisenberg might not be returning to reprise the role of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network 2, as Deadline reported that Emmy-winning star Jeremy Strong is currently the favorite to replace Eisenberg. With David Fincher not returning to helm the sequel, which isn’t surprising for the revered filmmaker, Aaron Sorkin, responsible for the original’s screenplay, is both writing and directing the sequel.
However, nothing is set in stone, as both Sony and the Succession star have yet to break the silence. Given the direction of the sequel, set to explore the explosive articles against Facebook, Strong could be an interesting choice.
Jeremy Strong Is Reportedly the Frontrunner for Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network 2
Having earned recognition for his performance as Kendall Roy in HBO’s Succession, the actor has the chops to realize the Meta CEO on the big screen, similar to that of Jesse Eisenberg in the original movie.

The news that Oscar-winning screenwriter of The Social Network, Aaron Sorkin, is developing a sequel for himself to direct went off like a bombshell in the entertainment world that almost certainly sent hundreds of agents around Hollywood hurdling toward their phones, frantic to get their clients aboard.
And now, the first drips of casting news are leaking out, though firm deals have yet to be secured.
Outside of the names being bandied about as potential cast members, perhaps the biggest news and most logical question for a follow-up film about Facebook was weather a Social Network Part II would have the same Mark Zuckerberg. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg has passed on the opportunity to reprise the role — at least for the time being.
But the names of a handful of awards winners who could be joining the cast have also started making the rounds.

If cast, Strong is expected to appear alongside Jeremy Allen White and Oscar-winner Mikey Madison, both of whom are circling other roles in the follow-up. Having written the Academy Award-winning screenplay for the first film, Sorkin is returning as writer for Part II, now taking over directorial duties from David Fincher. Whether we like it or not, a sequel to David Fincher's 2010 film "The Social Network" is definitely happening. Now, outlets like Deadline are reporting that Jeremy Strong is the top choice to portray the CEO and founder of Facebook and Meta, Mark Zuckerberg.
As "Social Network" fans are well aware, the original film — written by Aaron Sorkin, who's set to both write and direct the sequel — cast Jesse Eisenberg as a younger Zuckerberg during and beyond his college years, jumping through timelines to show us both the origin of Facebook and the multiple lawsuits Zuckerberg ultimately faced from adversaries like the Winklevoss twins (played by Armie Hammer) and former best friends like Eduardo Saverin (a stunningly great Andrew Garfield in one of his early film roles). Now, years after the movie's release — and amidst a lot of controversy surrounding...

For those new to the blog, this is Joshua Rubin, video game writer and founder of Strange Land Comics. But long before comics and video games, I had built a decade-long career as a screenwriter in Hollywood.
It was back in 2007 when DNA Films in London — the producers of Danny Boyle’s 28 Days/Weeks saga — invited me to brainstorm a final chapter to the series.
It was one of those rare gigs where I got to go all-in — not pitching a sequel, but a true ending. Bigger in scale, deeper in theme. A film that could expand the world and still feel intimate and raw, like the first one did.

On Thursday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences extended invites to 534 people to become a member, the largest class since 2020. Some of these names were not surprising. Reigning Oscar winners Mikey Madison and Kieran Culkin were invited, though it might be surprising that Culkin, with his extensive career, wasn't already a member, but he also doesn't seem like the type who would have sought out membership previously.. Other 2025 nominees who could vote for the Oscars next year are Ariana Grande, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong, and Monica Barbaro.
If all the invitees accept, the total members, including emeriti, will be 11,120, and the number of voting members will be 10,143. In addition, 35 percent of the Academy would be women, 22 percent would be from underrepresented communities, and 21 percent would be international.
Let's take a closer look at the class of 2025.

Jafar Panahi’s Cannes winner “It Was Just an Accident” will be released in theaters this fall. Neon has dated the movie for theatrical release on Oct. 15.
The film marks the Iranian auteur’s first feature since being released from prison in Iran and was directly inspired by his incarceration. “It Was Just An Accident” follows what begins as a minor accident, which sets in motion a series of escalating consequences. The story centers on five characters who think they’ve identified the prosecutor who tortured them during their own arrests — but as they were all blindfolded in jail, none can be entirely certain their captive is the same man.
“When you spend eight hours a day blindfolded, seated in front of a wall, being interrogated by someone standing behind your back every day, you can’t stop wondering what kind of conversation you can have with this man,” Panahi...

Karla Sofía Gascón appears in images for the new movie Trinidad. Gascón is best known for her starring role in the film Emilia Pérez, a French-Mexican musical drama that came out last year. The movie earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, though she ultimately lost out to Anora's Mikey Madison.
Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed new images for Gascón's upcoming role in Trinidad. The first image shows Gascón wearing all black, including a dress and hat, as two characters in cowboy hats stand behind her. In the second image, she wears the same outfit while sitting at a table for a feast. The third image focuses on another of Trinidad's female characters.
In addition to showing the images, the report also explained the filming information for Trinidad. The movie is set primarily in the United States, but was filmed in recent months in the Canary Islands.

The New York Times is determined to find the Top 100 Films of the 21st Century as voted by the public. It’s open on their website (with a paywall), but even famous actors and filmmakers in the movie business are getting in on the action. According to the Borrowing Tape page on Facebook, “The poll includes ‘more than 500 influential directors, actors and other notable names in Hollywood and around the world voted on the best films released since Jan. 1, 2000.'” They have shared the lists that were compiled by Bong Joon Ho, Sofia Coppola, Julianne Moore, Mel Brooks, Mikey Madison, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ava DuVernay.
Bong Joon Ho, whose Mickey 17 was released earlier this year, submitted his picks for the Top 9 Films of the 21st Century. His list includes films like Asako, No Country for Old Men, Lazzaro Felice, Mad Max: Fury Road, Stranger by the Lake, The Day He Arrives,...

In the past 10 years or so, intimacy coordinators have become a go-to role in film sets where love scenes are being filmed. The urgency of having them on set greatly increased in the wake of the #MeToo movement that rocked Hollywood in late 2017. But some who’ve been working in the industry for quite some time have been skeptical of their utility. Sean Bean, for one, said that he thought intimacy coordinators ruined the “spontaneity” and “chemistry” between actors.
Now Richard Gere has joined their ranks. In an interview with The Wrap about the Paramount+ spy series “The Agency,” Gere spoke alongside his fellow actors on the show Michael Fassbender, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Jeffrey Wright. Fassbender and Turner-Smith play lovers, and both actors strongly endorsed the role of their intimacy coordinator on set.
Fassbender said, “A lot of the time, directors won’t say what they want you to do...
