Almost exactly a year after its theatrical release, Twisters, the sequel to 1996’s classic Twister, is gaining momentum on Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10. Per FlixPatrol, Twisters, starring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones, is in the No. 10 spot on Prime Video across all movies and shows on the streaming service as of June 21. The movie has a "Certified Fresh" critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In Twisters, Edgar-Jones plays Kate Cooper, a storm chaser who is tracking an Oklahoma tornado outbreak with her friend Javi, played by Anthony Ramos. The pair soon meet up with social media storm chaser Tyler Owens (Powell), who clashes with the more traditional storm chasing duo. The film comes from director Lee Isaac Chung with a screenplay by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant)and a story by Joseph Kosinski.

Ahead of Superman, audiences are revisiting, or perhaps watching for the first time, David Corenswet's previous big screen outing, 2024's Twisters. The disaster movie is currently climbing the charts on Prime Video.

Per FlixPatrol, Twisters is currently No. 5 on Prime Video's U.S. Top 10 Movies list, sitting just below The Accountant 2, The Accountant, Oblivion, and The Beekeeper, all of whom are making their debut on the list. Twisters has jumped up three spots from yesterday, where it was at No. 8. Glen Powell has been just about everywhere lately, but chances are you might not recognize him in his latest role as Chad Powers. Hulu has dropped the first quick teaser for the upcoming half-hour comedy series, which is based on the character created by Eli Manning for his ESPN+ docuseries Eli’s Places. Powell looks damn near unrecognizable in the role, complete with a smattering of freckles and a wispy mustache.

The official description for the series reads: “When bad behavior nukes hotshot Qb Russ Holliday’s (Powell) college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.” Production on the series has now officially started production.

Chad Powers comes from co-creators and executive producers Glen Powell and Michael Waldron, with Eli Manning serving as executive producer alongside Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, and ESPN. Powell also co-wrote the pilot episode with Waldron.

Billed as a standalone sequel, Twisters is set in the same universe as the 1996 blockbuster Twister, and the film features plenty of Easter eggs and references to the original franchise installment. Even though a cheap Helen Hunt cameo in Twisters isn't one of the many nods to the original film, director Lee Isaac Chung finds clever ways to pay homage to the iconic disaster movie. In Twister, Hunt plays Jo, a storm chaser who had a traumatic experience with a tornado as a child and, as a result, dedicates herself to studying the brutal (and terrifyingly random) storms.

On Jul. 3, Universal released a new Twisters preview introducing the Tornado Wranglers, a group of tornado chasers led by Glen Powell's character, Tyler Owens. The featurette plays up the "spectacle" surrounding the Tornado Wranglers, as described by star Anthony Ramos (Javi), while Daisy Edgar-Jones, who portrays meteorologist Kate Cooper, relayed how "passionate and excited" the group's members are about their jobs. The group includes socialites, a tech guru, merch sellers and humanitarians.
