Shonen anime are often lauded for their high-octane action and thrilling narratives. And since they are geared toward young audiences, there are rarely any gore portrayals of death. However, that doesn't particularly mean absolutely nobody dies in these shows. And when an important character does eventually meet their demise, it is often heartbreaking.

Throughout the vast landscape of shonen anime, certain deaths stand out for their emotional resonance. More often than not, they involve characters whom the viewers have heavily emotionally invested in. The fact that some of them went in an undesirable manner makes their deaths far more emotionally impactful, even years after it happened.
