“This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer.

“Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness.

“In this time of grief, we would request for privacy, while we remember her fondly for all that we shared,” said a statement today.

No details of Pandey’s passing, where and when, or whether any of her family members were present, are provided in the message.

Mumbai, March 12 (Ians) Actor-model Poonam Pandey is in Maldives to celebrate her 30th birthday along with beau Sam Bombay. The actress said the couple would probably cut cakes under the moon on the pristine beaches of the picturesque holiday spot.

"It's been a long and difficult yet fulfilling journey. I have had my fair share of struggles, but it's been quite a ride. Yet it seems I am just getting started. I have been in the business for a decade now and it seems just like yesterday," Poonam said.

"Sam and I would probably cut the cakes under the moon, and we have this amazing beach to us. The Maldives is one of the favourite destinations for celebrities currently, and rightly so," she said.

Poonam tied the knot with beau Sam Bombay in September last year.

Panaji, Nov 5 (Ians) Actor Poonam Pandey was detained by police on Thursday, a day after she was booked for participating in a controversial photoshoot at a restricted dam site in South Goa, police said.

Pandey, who was staying at a beach resort in North Goa, was detained by officials from the Calangute police station and would be handed over to police personnel from the Canacona police station in South Goa, where the Fir against her has been registered.

Earlier on Thursday, a police inspector was also suspended following outrage over the actor's controversial photoshoot at the restricted site.

The Fir followed a complaint by local opposition party, Goa Forward, which had alleged that Pandey had participated in a "porn" photoshoot in a property owned by the Goa government's Water Resources department.
