At long last, we have a trailer for The Gallows Act II. This is a sequel that has been in the works for quite some time, with reports of test screenings dating as far back as 2017. Sure, long-delayed releases are rarely a good sign for any movie, let alone a low-budget horror movie. That having been said, for those who enjoyed the first entry, this looks very much like it was cut from the same cloth as The Hangman is back for more blood.

The trailer is very much just a teaser and opts to focus on one scene for most of its 90-second runtime, as opposed to showing us all that much. Blumhouse has a couple of sequels coming our way next year that have already been filmed. Studio head Jason Blum provided an update on the status of both Happy Death Day 2 and The Gallows Act II during a recent Twitter Q&A. Not only have these movies been filmed, but Blum has actually already seen Happy Death Day 2 and claims that it's quite good.

It's not as though Jason Blum is going to trash talk one of his studio's forthcoming releases. Despite that, he has seen Happy Death Day 2, which began filming in May, with director Christopher Landon and star Jessica Rothe both returning, and had a kind word to share. The studio apparently made quick work of it. Given Blumhouse's very successful business model of making movies for very small budgets, that's not too terribly surprising. The investigations that Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) previously began with conspiracy theorist and web-tv show host Tad O’Malley (guest star Joel McHale) seem to have awakened powerful enemies. A widespread panic begins as people all over the country suddenly start falling gravely ill, and Scully must look within to try and find a cure.

Check out the brand-new trailer for Matthew Sconce’s new horror thriller Altar; which sees a group of old friends take a trip down memory lane in the Sierra Nevadas which ends in a bloody fight for survival. Sconce (Stricken) directed from a script he penned. Stefanie Estes, Jesse Parr, Brittany Falardeau, Deep Rai, Ancilla deValmont and Tim Parrish star as the unfortunate group of former classmates.

Altar is the terrifying story of a group of college classmates who get lost driving to a reunion campout in the Sierra Nevada mountains. After stopping for the night, they stumble onto something darker and must escape the evil they’ve unleashed. Not only are their lives in danger, but their immortal souls as well.

Altar is expected to premiere later in 2016.
