When CNN took the long-running program “Reliable Sources” off its schedule in 2022, it created an opportunity for others to try their hand at media analysis. Several upstarts are trying to take advantage of it.
SiriusXM will launch “Mediaite’s Press Club,” a new weekly hour-long show that will analyze events and people affecting the worlds of media and politics. The show, which will debut June 8, will air Saturdays at 10 a.m. on the satellite-broadcaster’s P.O.T.U.S. channel, and repeat at 8 p.m. in the evening. It will also be available in video format on YouTube and Mediaite’s own site. The program debuts not too soon after Semafor, a news outlet that has tried to cultivate a global audience of news aficionados, launched “Mixed Signals,” a new podcast devoted to analysis of the media sector.

X, formerly Twitter, has followed through on Elon Musk’s plan to remove headlines from news articles.
Musk initially stated in August that this change aimed to “greatly improve aesthetics,” but it may also impact the traffic directed to stories shared by news outlets, which are active platform users.

As of the recent update, only an article’s lead image is visible, and there is no accompanying headline below the picture. While a news outlet’s website address does appear within the image, the absence of headlines in tweets has sparked criticism, with many users finding the platform less functional.
X/Twitter did not provide a comment regarding the specific reasons for this alteration. It’s important to note that news outlets can still offer context for their stories within the text of their tweets.

X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, went through with owner Elon Musk’s plan to remove headlines from news articles, creating confusion among readers used to seeing easily identifiable links to stories.
Musk said in August that the change would be made to “greatly improve the esthetics.” But the change also may diminish traffic to stories posted by news outlets, whose staffs are among the most prolific users of the platform.
X/Twitter did not return a request for comment on the reasons for the change.
The change was unveiled on Wednesday, in which only an article’s lead image can be seen. A news outlet’s website address does appear in the image, but there is no headline below the picture. News outlets can still give context to stories in the text of their tweets.

Victor Wills, the lead singer of ostensibly one of Donald Trump’s favorite bands, the Village People, is once again asking Trump to stop using his music.
A letter from Village People manager (and Willis’ wife), Karen Willis, specifically calls out a recent video from Mar-a-Lago showing Trump dancing along to the Village People’s “Macho Man” while a group of people — dressed up just like the Village People — dance behind him.
The Village People lead singer sent Trump a cease and desist over a performance of "Macho Man" at Mar-a-Lago: pic.

Kid Rock has been removed from his duties as Grand Marshal of Nashville’s 2018 Christmas Parade, following backlash over comments he made during a television appearance on Friday morning. Replacing him in the honorary position is James Shaw Jr., better known as the Waffle House hero for his effort to thwart a mass shooting in Nashville in April.
The move comes after Kid Rock made an appearance on Fox & Friends, which was shooting on location in downtown Nashville at Kid Rock’s newly opened Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse.
