‘Project Runway’ runners-up Brittany and Laurence discuss the finale: ‘For me, we’re all winners’ [Watch]
Image
It was close but no cigar for “Project Runway” season 20 finalists Brittany Allen and Laurence Basse. They made it to the top three and showed their final collections, but alas, they finished as runners-up while Bishme Cromartie walked away with the grand prize. Mentor Christian Siriano talked with them one last time during the “Runway” post-finale after show. Watch it above.

“Making a collection in eight days is honestly just rude,” says Siriano. Indeed. In past seasons the “Runway” finalists have been given weeks to complete their full collections. But this time around the All-Stars had to put together eight looks in just eight days. It’s a miracle that the collections got done at all, let alone at the level of quality that Allen, Basse and Cromartie were able to make them.

‘Project Runway All-Stars’ Winner Speaks Out After Finale & Reveals Big Dream
Image
[Warning: The below contains major spoilers for Project Runway All-Stars season finale.] Redemption was on the mind of designers taking part in Project Runway’s first-ever All-Stars season, which featured contestants from previous seasons of the Bravo show. During the milestone Season 20 finale, which aired Thursday, September 7, it came down to Bishme Cromartie, Brittany Allen, and Laurence Basse. For the last challenge, the final three were tasked with creating eight looks in eight days that really told the story of who they are in the fashion world. Along with mentor Christian Siriano, they had to impress judges Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth, plus designer Zac Posen and Billy Porter, the Pose star who is no stranger to any runway. As the show reached its climax, Bishme was named winner. The self-taught designer from season 17 earned $250,000, a mentorship with the Cfda (Council of Fashion Designers of America), a feature in Elle magazine, and six months of...

Project Runway Finale Recap: Did the Right All-Star Designer Win Season 20?
Image
Three designers, 24 looks, one nail biter of a finale. Project Runway wrapped Season 20 on Thursday with Bishme Cromartie, Brittany Allen and Laurence Basse facing off one last time with some of their most impressive creations to date.

With eight days to work, one eliminated designer for assistance and $10,000 at their disposal, all three finalists “delivered a unique vision and brought the drama,” to quote returning guest judge Zac Posen. These all-star designers have upped their game since appearing on their original seasons, and that growth was reflected in a trio of stunning runway collections.

‘Project Runway’ 20 finale recap: Did Bishme, Brittany or Laurence win the grand prize? [Live Blog]
Image
It all came down to this. “Project Runway” season 20 ended on Thursday night, September 7, by deciding which returning All-Star contestant would take home the grand prize. For the first time, the final challenge was a race against time: the three remaining designers had to create their eight-look collections in just eight days — so you could think of this like eight one-day challenges all in a row. No rest for the weary. Helping to decide the winner were guest judges Zac Posen and Billy Porter. Scroll down for our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments and commentary throughout “The Finale.”

‘Project Runway’ poll results: Judges should have put Rami Kashou in the finale instead of Brittany Allen
Image
“Project Runway” judges made a mistake in deciding their final three for season 20. That’s according to the fans we polled after last week’s penultimate episode, “The Sky’s the Limit.” Scroll down to see our complete poll results.

SEERami Kashou’s ‘Project Runway’ designs, ranked worst to best

“The Sky’s the Limit” was the avant garde challenge. It brought the final four — Brittany Allen, Laurence Basse, Bishme Cromartie and Rami Kashou — to the Summit One Vanderbilt building in Manhattan where they took inspiration from the architecture of the space as well as the spectacular views of the New York City skyline.

Cromartie won the challenge for a look that used vinyl to mimic the reflective surfaces of a balloon room in the building. That earned him the first spot in the finale. Basse also got high marks from the judges for a complex architectural design that translated the geometry of buildings into a garment.

Rami Kashou (‘Project Runway’) on who he thinks he should have replaced in the finale 3 [Watch]
Image
“I did use my Siriano Save on him, and I stand by my decision,” said Christian Siriano when he interviewed Rami Kashou on the “Project Runway” after show. Siriano and Kashou competed together in the fourth season of the reality competition series. Siriano won that season and has since returned to the show as a mentor. Kashou returned for season 20’s special “All-Stars” edition and was eliminated twice: in “Uncut Hems” Siriano vetoed the judges’ decision and kept Kashou around, but in “The Sky’s the Limit” Kashou was ousted for good. Watch their interview above.

Project Runway Reveals Which All-Star Designers Will Compete in Season Finale
Image
And then there were three. Following Thursday’s episode of Project Runway All Stars, which required the remaining designers to create avant-garde looks inspired by NYC’s Summit One Vanderbilt, we now know which trio will return to compete in next week’s season finale.

Two-thirds of ‘Project Runway’ fans agreed with the decision to send Prajje Oscar Jean Baptiste home

Prajje Oscar Jean Baptiste was eliminated from “Project Runway” last week in the flamboyant menswear challenge “Let Me See Your Peacock!” Were the judges right to send him home? About two-thirds of the “Runway” fans we polled after the episode (66.81%) agreed that it was his time to go. Scroll down to see our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.

The challenge in “Let Me See Your Peacock!” was to create men’s red carpet looks that made extravagant fashion statements. Jean Baptiste was eliminated for a look that judge Brandon Maxwell compared to a nutcracker going to a gay club, while Nina Garcia positively hated the copper-colored sheer turtleneck underneath.

Laurence Basse (‘Project Runway’): Look back at all her looks from season 20 – which is your favorite?

Laurence Basse was originally a contestant in the 15th season of “Project Runway.” She reached the finale episode but ultimately finished in third place behind ultimate winner Erin Robertson after the finalists showed their collections. ‘Project Runway’ guest Captain Lee from ‘Below Deck’ doesn’t mince words when critiquing the designers’ looks [Watch]

I don’t follow the Bravo reality series “Below Deck,” so Captain Lee Rosbach immediately got my attention on “Project Runway” when he told the designers at the start of the episode “Below Decked Out,” “You guys are going to be busier than the door knob at a whorehouse on nickel night.” Well, Rosbach was missing from the episode after that since he wasn’t one of the clients in this real client challenge or one of the guest judges who decided the winner and loser, but he does show up for Christian Siriano‘s “Runway” after show. 70% of ‘Project Runway’ fans disagreed with Fabio’s elimination, but who should’ve gone home instead?
Image
By the end of his run on “Project Runway” season 20, Fabio Costa had been yanked back and forth by the judges, getting one critique from them for two weeks straight and then being told the opposite on his way out the door. Anyone in his position might have been confused. Perhaps that’s why only 29.59% of the fans we polled thought he deserved to be eliminated in “Fashion, Inside Out.” That means more than 70% thought he should have stayed in the competition. Scroll down for our complete poll results.

In “Seeing Red” and “Like Totally ’90s,” Costa was told by judge Nina Garcia that his designs were too quiet and safe. So he pumped up the volume for “Inside Out,” in which designers had to create looks that highlighted couture undergarments … and was told he needed to edit himself down. Specifically, fabric hanging from his model’s midsection obscured the whole look.

Hester Sunshine was eliminated from “Project Runway” last week in episode five, “Seeing Red,” when the designers had to create looks using the same bolt of red fabric. ‘Project Runway’ elimination predictions: Who will be out in ‘Like Totally ’90s’ after last week’s contentious results?
Image
The “Seeing Red” challenge threw the “Project Runway” designers for a loop. It ended with the elimination of Hester Sunshine, but many seemed to think Anna Zhou was the least deserving. Will the results tonight in “Like Totally ’90s” be just as contested?

Kayne Gillaspie sat down with Zhou at the end of “Seeing Red” to ask if she thought it was fair that Sunshine was eliminated for sending something new down the runway when Zhou got high marks for what he thought was a derivative design. Korto Momolu thought it was “bullshit” that Zhou had one of the judges’ favorite looks. It was all because Zhou created a dress with ruffles that her rivals thought was too reminiscent of what she created in “Toying with Fashion.”

What does it take to win a design challenge on “Project Runway”? That’s the question the designers face every week on the fashion competition series where one day you’re in and the next day you’re out. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so the judges’ tastes and expectations can be a moving target. But there are a few generally consistent ways you can impress the panel: be original and forward-thinking, be modern, demonstrate a clear and consistent artistic vision, and for the love of God don’t be boring. All things being equal, it’s better to be ambitious than to play it safe. The only thing more ruffled than Anna Yinan Zhou‘s look on this week’s episode of Project Runway were the feathers of her fellow designers.

Thursday’s challenge required the 11 remaining contestants to craft ensembles that conveyed their unique points of view. The catch? They all had to use 15 yards of the same red fabric, resulting in “a lot of very similar looks,” according to judge Nina Garcia, who was also disappointed by how many minimalist designs and simple draped looks she spotted on the runway.

In fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re out. That’s the guiding principle of “Project Runway,” now in its 20th season. Even in a year like this, which brings together experienced All-Star contestants from the show’s history, some outfits are bound to fail. The fashion design competition has strict time limits and no seamstresses around to help you sew, which can trip up even the most gifted artists. ‘Project Runway’ predictions: Who will be eliminated in tonight’s regal episode, ‘Coronation Day’?
Image
Last week’s “Project Runway” had a bit of a surprise ending. “Toying with Fashion” was an unconventional materials challenge where designers had to obtain their supplies from Fao Schwarz. Laurence Basse expressed disdain for the challenge from the beginning, and judge Nina Garcia chided her for not even trying. But they sent home Mila Hermanovski instead for an unfinished look without a point of view. Will we be surprised again this week?

For tonight’s episode, “Coronation Day,” the fans who have made their predictions here in our predictions center say Basse is the likeliest to go home after last week’s close call. She gets leading odds of 23/10 as of this writing. Next up in our eliminations forecast is Hester Sunshine with 39/10 odds. Sunshine is known for her eccentric looks that could land her at the bottom as easily as they could earn her a win.

Scroll through the gallery of this season’s worst looks above, updating every week as the season progresses.

Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Monday, May 8, 2023.

As the fate of the bulk of The CW's scripted series remains Tba, the network has picked up another Canadian import.

Son of a Critch is set to air on the network this summer.

The series is a coming-of-age story based on the childhood and adolescence of Canadian comedian Mark Critch.

At the beginning of the series, 11-year-old Mark is growing up in 1980s Newfoundland, where he navigates starting junior high school, making friends, and connecting with the small collection of people in his limited world.

“When I was a young kid watching American TV in the ‘80s, I never dreamed that one day my own story would be beamed back over the border,” said Mark Critch.

“Having enjoyed so many CW shows with my own family, I’m excited to invite our American friends over to ‘my house.
