"The Roses is a cautionary tale about romance." Searchlight Pictures has debuted a new promo featurette for The Roses, an upcoming comedy from filmmaker Jay Roach. "All's fair when love is war." Life seems easy for this couple, however that's all about to change. A tinderbox of competition and resentments hidden underneath the façade of a picture-perfect couple is ignited when the husband's professional dreams come crashing down and his (ex-)wife's career as a chef takes off. An updated, modern take on the book "The War of the Roses" written by Warren Adler, which was already made before into 1989 comedy of the same name. The first trailer arrived a few months ago already - it's still set to open in September this fall. The Roses cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman, with Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Belinda Bromilow, Sunita Mani, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, and Kate McKinnon.

While promoting his new film, Benedict Cumberbatch put in perspective how non-environmentally friendly Hollywood productions tend to be, as he appeared on the Ruthie’s Table 4 podcast. Cumberbatch inevitably fielded questions about being in the Marvel Universe and when he spoke about getting into shape for Doctor Strange, he mentioned how he had to eat five meals a day, plus snacks like boiled eggs, almonds and cheese in between meals in order to bulk up. Cumberbatch admitted how “it’s horrific eating beyond your appetite.”
Reminiscing about his meals got him thinking about how he found Hollywood productions less green. According to Variety, the Sherlock star said, “Going back to responsibility and resourcefulness and sustainability, it’s just like, ‘What am I doing? I could feed a family with the amount I’m eating.’” He would then continue to say,
It’s a grossly wasteful industry. Think about set builds that aren’t recycled,...

Happy Gilmore star Adam Sandler could be all set for Oscar glory with his new movie. Sadly, no, it’s not Happy Gilmore 2. The beloved actor and comedian will reunite with Netflix once again for an upcoming coming-of-age comedy-drama, with a source who's seen the movie revealing that, not only will the streamer campaign hard for Sandler to be considered by the Academy, but that could even win a coveted golden statue.
Titled Jay Kelly, the movie is being helmed by Academy Award nominee and Marriage Story director Noah Baumbach, and could be described as a coming-of-middle-age comedy as it follows friends, played by Sandler and George Clooney, who rediscover their youthful spirit during a chaotic reunion.
Now, buzz from an early screening (via World of Reel) has emerged, with “industry sources, journalists, and test reports” stating that Sandler steals the show in Jay Kelly, with the Billy Madison star delivering a career-best performance.

Upcoming comedy The Roses, starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch as a warring couple, arrives in August. Have a trailer:
On paper, everything about Searchlight’s upcoming remake of the 1989 dark comedy, The War Of The Roses looks to be in order. You get Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch as the unhappy couple, delivering withering put-downs in a steadily escalating conflict that gets rather out of hand.
Plus, it has Jay Roach at the helm, a filmmaker who knows how to craft a big studio comedy, not to mention a script from Poor Things and The Favourite writer Tony McNamara. This doesn’t look like it will have the frisson of the Danny DeVito film that starred Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, though. The original War Of The Roses was a continuation of the chemistry the duo perfected in 1984’s Romancing The Stone and the following year’s sequel, The Jewel Of The Nile.

Benedict Cumberbatch is an actor known for playing all kinds of roles – geniuses (Sherlock), dragons (The Hobbit trilogy), time-bending doctors (Doctor Strange) and numerous dramatic leading roles. The one thing we don’t get to see him fully lean into very often? Comedy. That’s about to change with The Roses, in which he stars opposite Olivia Colman as a married couple having some pretty extreme relationship troubles. Watch the trailer below.
Cumberbatch and Colman are Theo and Ivy Rose, spouses living a seemingly perfect life with their kids in a beautiful house by the beach. But under the surface, jealousy and resentment starts bubbling up, with Theo’s career takes a downward turn just as Ivy’s is taking off. Cue a series of escalating jabs and retaliations at each other as they start to face their marital problems – including awkward exchanges over dinner, crabs in a bathtub, and gunshots in the kitchen.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman play a picture-perfect married couple who descend into a bitter cat-and-dog divorce battle in the trailer for The Roses, director Jay Roach’s dark comedy.

Original Night at the Museum star Jacob Cherry opens up about his heartwarming experiences on the movie set.
Speaking to People, Cherry, who portrayed Nick Daley, the son of Ben Stiller's Larry, sang high praises of his Night at the Museum co-star. "[Ben] was really, the best way to put it is, just a normal guy," Cherry said. "One of my core memories – he showed me a Tenacious D music video, and he has a cameo in it. And he was so hyped that he was in this cameo… so just stuff like that. I got to see him as just like a normal person. There was no mask or anything like that."
Based on Milan Trenc's 1993 children's book, Night at the Museum premiered in 2006 and quickly established itself as a fan-favorite, family-friendly comedy. The film starred Stiller as Larry Daley, a night-shift security guard at the American Museum...

Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman have a not-so-cordial split in the first trailer for The Roses, the forthcoming remake of The War of the Roses.
Jay Roach directed the new movie from a script by Tony McNamara. Hitting theaters Aug. 29 from Searchlight Pictures, the project’s cast includes Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, Belinda Bromilow and Kate McKinnon.
The ribald footage shared at CinemaCon shows Cumberbatch and Colman as a happy couple who quickly fall apart — and seem to have fun doing just that. “I suppose sometimes I do hate you,” Cumberbatch says to Colman in the trailer before clarifying, “Sporadic hatred.”
As things sour, Colman’s character quips about her hubby, “Sometimes he’s got his cock in me, and I can’t really tell.” Soon, Cumberbatch gets an unwelcome surprise while he’s soaking in the bath tub.
