Russell Crowe Fans Get Bad News As His Best Film Leaves Streaming Soon
Image
Fans will not be entertained by some disappointing news regarding the imminent departure of one of the greatest historical films ever made. Gladiator, the movie that vaulted Russell Crowe to Hollywood superstardom, is set to leave Netflix very soon.

Per Collider,Gladiator is one of several titles leaving Netflix on Aug. 1. The film has also been available to stream on Netflix, Peacock and Paramount+, where it's housed alongside its sequel, Gladiator II.

Regarded as a game-changing film for the sword-and-sandal genre, Gladiator sees Crowe star alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielsen, Djimon Hounsou and the late Oliver Reed. Directed by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott, Gladiator nearly didn't feature Crowe as he hated the original script for the film before being convinced about the project. Furthermore, Crowe's lead role as Maximus Decimus Meridius almost went to Mel Gibson, who turned down the opportunity.

‘Spartacus: House of Ashur’ Creator Reveals How (and Why) They Recast One of the Series' Most Important Roles
Image
Hail Caesar! However, in the time period within which the upcoming Starz drama, Spartacus: House of Ashur, is set, no one is really hailing him. At this point in history, Gaius Julius Caesar is not yet the powerful, all-conquering Roman general who became dictator of Rome. Original Spartacus creator, Steven DeKnight, has returned to the world depicted in Starz's epic series. Set in an alternate reality, one of the original series' most hated villains, Ashur (Nick Tarabay), does not meet his death at Mount Vesuvius, but instead is rewarded with the Ludus of Batiatus (John Hannah) for helping the Romans kill Spartacus and ending his rebellion. In the process of crafting his story for the upcoming sequel, DeKnight needed another key figure to return.

Todd Lasance — now of NCIS: Sydney — played the key role of Julius Caesar in the 2010 series. While DeKnight wanted the actor to return to the role in the upcoming sequel,...

Harry Potter Actor Reveals the Answer to a 23-Year-Old Movie Mystery
Image
An original Harry Potterstar, Jason Isaacs, finally settles a decades-old rumor.

Speaking to Collider, Isaacs was asked if his character, Lucius Malfoy, intended to murder the titular character of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets during a key scene in which he seemingly utters the first half of the Killing Curse (Avada Kedavra) in Harry's direction before being taken to the ground. "There was a bit when we were standing up talking," Isaacs recalled, "And, you know, I'm meant to pull my wand out and someone said, ‘You should start a spell' and I thought 'I don't know any spells!"

"And so I asked and looked around, and there was a guy doing the lights, [...] and there's caterers and one guy holding a mic, and there's this one bloke, and he goes 'Well there is one, it's Avada Kedavra,'" Isaacs continued. "When the film comes out a year later,...

'Harry Potter's Jason Isaacs Explains Why Popular Book Scene Wasn't in Film
Image
Lucius Malfoy actor Jason Isaacs has revealed why the 2002 film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secretsdidn't include one of the most popular moments from the book. Director Chris Columbus and the team behind the sequel erased a fan-favorite scene from J.K. Rowling's wizarding series for the big-screen adaptation, but they couldn't obliviate it from people's memories, as many had hoped to see the interaction play out on screen. Isaacs explained that the reason for its exclusion was actually to benefit the audience.

The Harry Pottermovies made plenty of changes from the books, but not all of them were favorable to fans of the fantasy series. Among the most notable was the fistfight between Arthur Weasley and Lucius Malfoy in the bookstore Flourish and Blotts, which didn't make it into the film version of Chamber of Secrets despite being a very satisfying moment for readers. "It's the difference between...

Jason Isaacs Reveals the Hilarious Reason Why It Sounds Like Lucius Malfoy Tried to Kill Harry Potter in 'Chamber of Secrets'
Image
If you’ve ever rewatched the ending of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and thought, “Wait, did Lucius Malfoy almost Avada Kedavra a 12-year-old?” — you’re not alone. And now, thanks to Jason Isaacs himself, we finally have an answer. Yes, he almost did. And yes, it was a total accident. Speaking at FanExpo Denver during a panel moderated by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt, Isaacs opened up about that not-so-subtle wand flick at Harry Potter outside Dumbledore’s office — the one where he utters “Avada…” before getting Dobby’d straight to the ground. According to Isaacs, the moment wasn’t scripted that way at all.

He told audiences:

“There was a bit when we were standing up talking — and, you know, I'm meant to pull my wand out and someone said, ‘You should start a spell' and I thought 'I don't know any spells! ’ And so I asked and looked around,...

'Harry Potter's Jason Isaacs Explains Why This Fan-Favorite Book Scene Was Cut From 82% Rotten Tomatoes Sequel
Image
It turns out Lucius Malfoy was supposed to get knocked flat on his ass in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets — and Jason Isaacs was totally up for it. But at a packed FanExpo Denver panel moderated by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt, Isaacs revealed why one of the most beloved book moments — the fistfight between Lucius and Arthur Weasley — was ultimately left on the cutting room floor… or more accurately, never even filmed. “Yes, I don’t wish I could have done the fight,” Isaacs said, laughing. “It was a brilliant question. It’s the difference between reading a book and making a film.”

In the original Chamber of Secrets novel, the two hot-headed wizard dads famously get into a physical brawl inside Flourish and Blotts. Wands? Optional. Flying fists? Mandatory. But when it came time to shoot the movie, director Chris Columbus made the deliberate choice to hold back.

'Hi Dad': Tom Felton Surprises Jason Isaacs on Stage and Reveals How Lucius Inspired His Adult Draco Malfoy

Tom Felton has often spoken about being in touch with his Harry Potter co-stars, but he has supported his on-screen dad, Jason Isaacs, more than others. The duo played Draco and Lucius Malfoy, respectively, and, unlike their characters, they have a very healthy relationship in real life.

Felton is set to reprise his role as Draco Malfoy in the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, this time, as a grown-up. Isaacs had previously reacted to the news and shown his support, promising a new reunion. Luckily for Potterheads, the reunion happened sooner as Felton surprised Isaacs at Funko Fridays in Hollywood, and shared the cute moment in a post on Instagram. "Surprised my father [Jason Isaacs] today in Hollywood. So nice to be reunited. Love you dad x.," the actor wrote in the caption. He later added a video that caught the entire exchange.

Pokémon Horizons has just reached a significant milestone for the series, as it aired its 100th episode in Japan on Friday. Just over two years after premiering, Liko and Roy have completed a hundred episodes, proving that the new heroes won't be going anywhere any time soon.

Horizons began airing in April 2023, introducing the world to its new heroine, the shy Liko, for the first time. Soon, she was joined by Roy, a young boy from an isolated island near Kanto, and the story began to reveal itself. The pair found themselves on a quest to retrace the steps of the Ancient Adventurer, Lucius, hoping to return Terapagos to the legendary land of Laqua, which it had once visited with Lucius. To that end, the duo traveled with a group known as the Rising Volt Tacklers, hunting down each of the Six Heroes, Pokémon that once belonged to Lucius, while struggling against the villainous Explorers.

Jason Isaacs Reveals What He Thinks New Lucius Malfoy Johnny Flynn Will Change in the ‘Harry Potter’ Series | Video
Image
As Johnny Flynn takes over the role of Lucius Malfoy in HBO’s new “Harry Potter” TV show, Jason Isaacs doesn’t think Flynn will embrace the same long blonde hair worn by Isaacs in the movie series.

“I don’t think that anything will be the same,” Isaacs told TheWrap in a recent interview. “I know they’re reinventing everything, redesigning everything.”

“Since I came up with that particular look — the hair and the cane and the capes and all that stuff — I’m pretty sure Johnny is an original thinker, and he will go in another direction,” Isaacs continued. “I can’t wait to see what he does.”

Isaacs has previously revealed that he came up with the idea of donning a long blonde wig in the “Harry Potter” movies after not being content with the initial character sketches, which portrayed Lucius in a suit with short hair.

Some of the dialogue from Jason Isaac's Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series wasn't in the script - it was made up on the spot by the accomplished actor.

Isaacs got talking about his improvisation skills while in conversation with Jesse Tyler Ferguson for the podcast Dinner's On Me. He said, via Entertainment Weekly, "The thing that was very surprising is how much leeway we had to improvise and change things." He had expected Harry Potter, which was huge business at that point in time, to be a much more tightly run ship.

If Black Snape Wasn’t Problematic Enough, Harry Potter ‘Racebends’ Another Beloved Character for No Reason
Image
The Harry Potter reboot is stirring the cauldron again, and this time, it’s not just about a Black actor portraying Snape. Reports now suggest another major character is being racebent, without any clear narrative reason. While diversity in casting is often a welcome move, fans are questioning if this latest change is about meaningful inclusion or just headline-chasing.

Unlike Snape, whose darker reimagining offered a bold thematic twist, this new switch feels less rooted in story and more like forced reinvention.

After the Snape backlash, fans now call out Parvati Patil’s ‘brown-washing’ casting misfire A still from Harry Potter | Credits: Warner Bros.

The Harry Potter reboot just added fuel to its already controversial fire. First came backlash over a Black actor as Severus Snape. Now, fans are fuming again: this time over the casting of Parvati Patil. Italian actress Alessia Leoni has been chosen to play the Indian-origin...

Jason Isaacs’ Latest Take Accidentally Dragged His Harry Potter Legacy
Image
Even though HBO is busy bringing together a whole new roster of fresh faces for their Harry Potter series, nothing could ever come close to the cast of the original Hp movies. Part of the reason is the connection and friendship between them, which continues to remain just the same even decades after the last film.

Two of the actors that fans love to see interact are Jason Isaacs and Tom Felton, who played the fan-favorite father-son duo in the Og movies, Lucius and Draco Malfoy, respectively. Even after all this time, the two of them continue to remain close, and Isaacs recently celebrated his on-screen son’s return to the world of Harry Potter with some warm words that clash with his on-screen character and his legacy.

Lucius Normalize Being Moms in Music: ‘It Shouldn’t Be Radical’
Image
“Here, hold him,” says Lucius’ Jess Wolfe, plopping her 6-month-old son Leo in my lap. I have never held a child during an interview before, but it feels appropriate: There are babies everywhere at the East Nashville home where the band is stationed for the day, also including Mia, the young daughter of Wolfe’s bandmate Holly Laessig. Mia is sleeping downstairs, and Leo is munching on the cuff of my sweater. When my son calls twice during our chat, Wolfe and Laessig encourage me to pick up, and I do.

Shortly after the casting news broke, Isaacs, who played the role in the films, took to X to share his support for Flynn, “A fantastic actor, a lovely man and, irritatingly, a rather brilliant musician too. Last week, Harry Potter fans also got more exciting news when it was announced on Thursday that Tom Felton, who played Draco in the films, would play Draco again — but in the Broadway show Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which begins on Nov. 11 and...

'Harry Potter' Star Jason Isaacs Has the Perfect Advice for His Lucius Malfoy Replacement
Image
Someone has cast Engorgio on the cast list for HBO's Harry Potter reboot, as the show recently added even more actors to its already sizeable troupe. Fans already knew who would be playing key roles, like Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and Harry Potter himself. But the latest round of casting revealed that Johnny Flynn will be the new Lucius Malfoy, the ill-tempered, bitter, and well-conditioned patriarch of the Malfoy family. Jason Isaacs originally played the role in Warner Bros.' film franchise, and the actor has given Flynn the perfect piece of advice for playing the racist wizard in HBO's upcoming reboot.

Following the casting announcement, Jason Isaacs took to X to praise the new additions to the Harry Potter family. As well as complimenting the choice of actors, Isaacs had some kind words to say about Johnny Flynn, the new Lucius Malfoy, as well as some very practical and on-brand advice.

Jason Isaacs Reacts to Harry Potter Reboot's Lucius Malfoy Pick (& Gives Him a Warning About Dobby)
Image
The original Lucius Malfoy has a message for his successor. Jason Isaacs, who portrayed the villainous character in six of the eight Harry Potter movies, has reacted to HBO's recent announcement that Johnny Flynn will portray Lucius in the upcoming small-screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's beloved fantasy series.

Responding to Flynn's casting on X, Isaacs shared the following statement: "A fantastic actor, a lovely man and, irritatingly, a rather brilliant musician too. Couldn’t have handed the snake-topped baton on to anyone better. Just please don’t make him sing…" The last part of Isaacs' statement is a reference to the fact that Flynn is an accomplished singer and songwriter. The actor also hinted through the use of the hashtag "#KillTheElfEarly" that Flynn should speed up the death of the Malfoys' former house-elf, Dobby, in the show. In the film adaptation, Dobby is killed by Bellatrix Lestrange in...

An Original Harry Potter Star Endorses Their "Brilliant" Replacement in Magical New Video
Image
The Harry Potter TV series continues to conjure excitement as HBO’s new cast takes shape — and one iconic member of the original films has just passed the wand in the most charming way possible. Earlier today, Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed a fresh batch of cast members for the upcoming adaptation, including Johnny Flynn as the elegantly villainous Lucius Malfoy.

That news lit up social media faster than a Lumos spell, and among those reacting was none other than Jason Isaacs, who originated the role of Lucius in the film series. Rather than clutch his snake-headed cane in protest, Isaacs gave Flynn his blessing — even if he confessed to being irritated by just how good Flynn is. Posting to X, Isaacs retweeted the casting announcement and wrote:

“A fantastic actor, a lovely man and, irritatingly, a rather brilliant musician too. Couldn’t have handed the snake-topped baton on to anyone better.

Draco Malfoy’s Incompetence Was His Redemption Arc and Harry Potter Basically Endorsed It
Image
Draco Malfoy may have strutted around Hogwarts like a platinum-blond bully, but we all know that behind his sneer was a scared boy trapped in a very dark game. Much like Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Draco was neither the villain nor the hero of the Harry Potter franchise. Instead, he was painfully stuck somewhere in between.

While the Harry Potter fandom often debates Snape’s motives or praises Neville’s bravery, Draco Malfoy’s story quietly unravels in the shadows. But what if we told you that his so-called failures—his hesitations, his fears, his refusal to act—were actually the moments that saved him? Because sometimes, not doing something is the bravest choice of all.

The moments where Draco Malfoy failed as a Death Eater

Let’s be real—Draco Malfoy was that smug kid at Hogwarts with the perfect hair, an endless supply of snarky comments, and the...

Image
Tom Felton is officially making his return to the Harry Potter world. The actor is set to reprise his role as the iconic Draco Malfoy, this time as an older character on Broadway in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

This led to his return to the character 14 years later, which he announced on June 5. A day later, Felton received support from his on-screen dad, Jason Isaacs, who penned a wholesome message on his Instagram account.

Tom Felton played Draco Malfoy in the eight Harry Potter films between 2001 and 2011. Since the film series ended, the actor never failed to show his love and dedication to the franchise.

Felton has often been involved with different official Harry Potter events, most recently the opening of an official shop in Chicago. However, he has just scored a new exciting role: he will be reprising his role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway show Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which continues the franchise as a play. Tom Felton’s Salary for Playing Draco in ‘Harry Potter’ and How Much He Earned From All 8 Movies
Image
Draco Malfoy may have been born with silver hair in a filthy rich family, but even the wealthiest pure-bloods need to stack some galleons in the Muggle world. So, even though the Malfoy family had a mansion and gold stacked at Gringotts, Draco is still having to hustle for Broadway coins.

Yup, Tom Felton is reprising his iconic role as the snarky Slytherin prince in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. And guess what? Fans are just losing their minds. But while he’s still printing dollars from his Harry Potter appearances, let’s break down how much our favorite blonde bully earned across all 8 Harry Potter films, especially when he had a total of 31 minutes of screen time.

Black Clover’s final arc has already begun, and fans are extremely excited about the upcoming finale. Lucius is proving to be way more dangerous than previously anticipated, but other than his subjugation, there’s one more topic at hand that fans have been dying to know more about.

Black Clover Season 5: I’m Pissed the Strongest Devil in Existence Is Not Going to Appear
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Black Clover Spade Kingdom arc and onwards spoiler

Black Clover has been delaying season 5 for four years ago and even so, not a single update has been revealed yet. At this rate, I might have to wait several more years before watching my favorite magic knights tough it out with devils. Add to it the fact that the strongest devil isn’t even going to appear anytime soon; nothing is going right for Black Clover fanatics.

So far, the magic knights have fought against the Dark Triad and defeated them. But the Dark Triad aren’t the most superior devils out there. The devils are divided into rankings, with ten of the most superior ones being connected to the Tree of Qliphoth. Despite being around 380 chapters in (at the time of writing this article), the strongest devil in the series has not even done a face-reveal yet.

Ridley Scott's Historical Epic Becomes A Global Streaming Hit After 24-Year Wait & $462M Box Office Performance
Image
After a 24-year wait followed by a $462 million box office run, Ridley Scott’s 2024 historical epic - Gladiator II - is a global streaming hit. But the director is no stranger to making period films after all; indeed, Scott’s very first movie, The Duellists, was set in 19th Century France. The filmmaker later transported audiences to the days of Columbus in 1492: Conquest of Paradise, but the epic movie was met mostly with shrugs.

Undeterred by his period films’ mixed box office performance, Scott continued pursuing the genre, right up to the present day. Kingdom of Heaven depicted the Crusades, and was deemed a failure until a director’s cut boosted its reputation. The fearless Scott gave new takes on classic stories with his Robin Hood and Exodus: Gods and Kings. He returned to France for the medieval drama The Last Duel, and made another foray to that nation for his 2023 epic Napoleon.

Even Black Clover Fans Are Doubting if Lucius Is as Evil as One Iconic Anime Villain
Image
Black Clover’s Lucius has made quite an ill reputation for himself due to his nefarious deeds. Making a paladin out of Sister Lily? Oh, come on! Poor Asta deserved better than to see his crush become Destruction Bazooka Ultra Max Pro.

Other than that, Lucius picked the most traumatizing memories of Black Clover’s main characters to create more Paladins out of them. From Nacht to the Silva siblings, the villain made sure not to spare anyone’s trauma. But is Lucius Zogratis really the most hated villain? Because there is one guy who is universally hated by the entire anime fandom, who remains at the top of the most detestable villains’ group chat.

Lucius might be bad, but he isn’t the worst

Let’s first find out what Lucius is responsible for in Black Clover and how much damage he has caused. In the final arc of Black Clover,...
