NBC has announced a series of actors set to appear in the second season of its medical drama, “Brilliant Minds.” Porsha Williams, Molly Bernard, Connor Tomlinson and Laura Vandervoort will each guest star in one of the first three episodes of the new season of the Zachary Quinto-led series.

The first season of “Brilliant Minds” premiered on NBC on Sept. 23, 2024. The medical drama draws inspiration from books of case histories by writer and neurologist Oliver Sacks. Quinto stars in the series as Oliver Wolf, a neurologist at Bronx General Hospital. Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh Lathrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II and Teddy Sears also star.

Williams, who hails from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and will appear on the next season of “The Traitors,” is set to guest star in the season premiere of “Brilliant Minds.” Williams will portray Bitsy, a rich, gossiping housewife who visits the private practice of psychiatrist Dr.

“Brilliant Minds” has added four guest stars for its upcoming second season at NBC.

Variety has learned that Porsha Williams, Molly Bernard, Connor Tomlinson (“Love on the Spectrum”), and Laura Vandervoort have all joined the sophomore season of the medical drama.

Although a spokesperson for the daytime drama series told Soap Opera Network, “We do not comment on the contract status of our actors, but fans should not worry, ‘Javi’ is alive and well in Salem,” following news of Calderon joining the NBC primetime medical drama, Deadline reported on Wednesday that the soap opera is seeking to recast his role.

According to the outlet, Calderon has been busy taping new episodes of “Days of our Lives,” which are slated to air in May 2026.

Calderon first appeared in Salem in October 2024, though he began taping episodes at the soap opera in February 2024, a result of the soap’s advanced tape-to-air schedule.

It’s that time of year when we know that more cancellations and renewals are likely to come. There are still far too many shows on the bubble, and it’s hard to call which way the networks will go with some of the shows. That’s certainly the case with the NBC shows.

Oliver isn’t enthusiastic about a formal event but accepts since Josh is receiving an award.

Oliver’s dad, Noah (Mandy Patinkin), is still hanging out at Muriel’s place and insists he’s taking his meds and “in a good place.” Muriel (Donna Murphy) wonders what they’ll tell Oliver, concerned this news will disrupt his happiness. She’d prefer Noah just leave rather than take Oliver’s happiness away from him.

We all knew that Mandy Patinkin had to play someone major to just suddenly show up in Brilliant Minds. By the end of the penultimate episode, we learned that he was Noah Wolf, Oliver’s dad. It left us with a world of questions about what actually happened. Muriel clearly knew her ex-husband was still alive, so why would she lie to Oliver all these years?

Meanwhile, we got to pick up on Ericka after the events of the building collapsing, and we had a chance to see Van as a father. Pierce’s past also came back to haunt her at the end of the finale.

NBC’s Brilliant Minds season one winter finale left off with a cliffhanger showing Ericka’s apartment building collapsing. Episode 12 plunges into the aftermath of the collapse, with first responders looking for survivors amid the rubble.

200 people, including Ericka, live in the apartment complex that has partially collapsed.

Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto) warns the interns that a flood of traumatized survivors is coming their way. And although it’s against his normal teachings, they need to detach themselves from what’s happening and treat the injured.

The emergency room is quickly jam-packed with patients-some with minor injuries, some critical, and all needing assessment.

There are few medical dramas that show off the real reason doctors are needed. Brilliant Minds did that bringing us a story of a doctor who sees more than patients.

Dr. Oliver Wolf, played by Zachary Quinto, is based on the real Dr. Oliver Sacks. The series is based on Dr. Sacks’s work, a man who treated the people and not the symptoms. Some of this was simply due to his own condition of face blindness, which is something our lead character has.

I talked with Michael Grassi about the creation of this series, including finding the rare and wild medical conditions and why this series is so important right now.

The season one finale of NBC’s Brilliant Minds will air earlier than planned. The season one wrap-up will now air as a special event with back-to-back episodes on Monday, Jan. 6 at 9 and 10 pm Et/Pt, NBC announced today. The original season finale date was a week later on Jan. 13.

The drama series is NBC’s No. 1 most-watched new show of the 2024-25 season, reaching 28.6 million total viewers across linear and digital platforms this season to date.

Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto, hails from writer and executive producer Michael Grassi and director/EP Lee Toland Krieger.

Based on the revolutionary life of queer neurologist Oliver Sacks, it follows Quinto’s Dr. Wolf and a team of interns as they explore the last great frontier – the human mind – while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.

The fall finale of NBC's Brilliant Minds aired December 9, putting Dr. Carol Pierce front and center. "The Other Woman" provides deeper insight into her early days as a mother and sees Carol come to terms with Morris' affair after she helps save Alison's life. Although the couple initially tried finding a way around their issues, Carol decides she wants a divorce. The doctor leaves her husband, telling Morris, "I love you, but I can't forgive you."

The show has been leading up to their split, but Brilliant Minds ensured fans wouldn't go into the holidays without a final shocker. Ericka steps into the elevator of her apartment building right before it partially collapses. Fans will have to wait until the new year to find out the intern's fate, as "The Doctor Whose World Collapsed," doesn't air until Monday, January 6 at 10 p.

There’s some terrible news for Brilliant Minds fans tonight. There isn’t a new episode on Monday, Dec. 16.

Of course, the show isn’t canceled. At least, not yet. This break is for a good reason, and we do know when the show will return with new episodes. We even have some ideas as to what’s going to happen when the series does return.

NBC’s Brilliant Minds episode 10 ended with Dr. Carol Pierce (Tamberla Perry) discovering Alison unconscious in her apartment. Episode 11, “The Other Woman,” opens with Alison rushed to the hospital, still unconscious and vomiting. Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto) glances knowingly at Carol, realizing the gravity of the situation.

Privately, Carol can’t believe Alison might be her one patient to die by suicide. She was only treating her to get more details on Morris’ infidelity and confesses she both envied and hated her. Oliver insists Carol isn’t at fault; Alison is a sick woman. Carol knows this is a huge ethical lapse, but Oliver thinks they should concentrate on keeping Alison alive for now.

As the first season of Brilliant Minds continues, a new sneak peek clip has been revealed ahead of the next episode. Titled "The Other Woman," the episode will air on Monday at 10pm Et on NBC.

Ahead of the episode's airing, Cbr can unveil a sneak peek clip from "The Other Woman." The description of the episode reads, "Dr. Pierce treats a patient in crisis, presenting an ethical dilemma. Dr. Wolf and Dr. Nichols disagree on how to treat a patient." The clip showcases Van Markus (Alex MacNicoll) and Dana Dang (Aury Krebs) questioning the growing length of a consult list. During the previous episode, Pierce warned Wolf about dating someone he worked with. It looks like that will come up in Brilliant Minds season 1, episode 11, as Wolf and Nichols disagree with how to deal with a patient.

While the episode is titled “The Other Woman,” much of the promotional material focuses on Wolf and Nichols. They work with a patient who wants to go a specific route, but the two disagree on the right method of treatment. Could this have a knock-on effect on their relationship? Things are still early days for the two of them.

After being fired from his previous job, Oliver Wolf takes his long-time friend up on her offer to work at Bronx General Hospital.

Carol entrusts Dr. Wolf with a group of young interns, who are caught off guard by his unconventional approach to care. However, despite Oliver's initial resistance to being a teacher, Quinto feels that everyone has adapted to the new dynamic. The star explains that their different perspectives allow him to approach cases from all angles, which benefits the patient in the long run. Paramedics rush to a call as NBC’s Brilliant Minds episode 10 opens. Finn Kemp, a 10-year-old boy with autism, is injured and has locked himself in a room. His poor dad can’t get him to open the door. One paramedic notices toy Camaros on the floor and entices Finn to open the door by talking about them.

The female paramedic, Katie (Mishel Prada), continues to make real contact with Finn as she gets him on the gurney and into the ambulance. Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto) and his interns meet the ambulance at the door, and after ushering Finn inside, Oliver notices Katie seems off. She blames it on coffee.

Wolf isn’t convinced, but she heads back out on another call before he can question her.

Fall 2024 is the most normal fall we’ve had since the pandemic in 2020. Most TV shows got off to their usual September starts, and we’ve had normal fall finales and we’re getting ready for January returns. The broadcast networks have had a mixture of reality and scripted shows.

For this post, we take a look at the scripted lineup. The non-scripted shows have slightly different requirements as they’re not as expensive to make, while the scripted lineup tends to be more focused on linear ratings, especially when it comes to a star-studded lineup.

NBC’s Brilliant Minds episode eight opens with Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto) thinking about what motivates us to carry on, even on our worst days. His opinion? It’s all about desire. When we get what we want, our brain gives us dopamine – the neurotransmitter that creates pleasure.
