Debbie Ivanrie-King
- Producer
- Writer
- Director
Debbie grew up in Brooklyn New York. Her passion was interpretive and
African dance, but in high school, she had a back injury and was
limited in movement. She was already singing in a local band at the
time, but never took music seriously. After her back injury, singing
became her sole artistic expression. Spending most of her teen and
adult years in the music industry, she stumbled upon acting in college
when she took an elective outside of her course of study; political
science. This acting class was the beginning of her career in dramatic
arts. She used acting to create characters and concepts in her music
performances, but was never interested in pursuing a career in acting.
Several years later after the death of her mother, she decided to
pursue a career in theatre directing. Then a few years later, she
started writing screenplays after the loss of her aunt. It was that
same year that she decided to start auditioning for acting roles, and
was signed by a talent agent.
In 2011 she moved to North Carolina to produce her first screenplay, but was diverted into another field of study; Holistic Health Coaching, by way of wanting to find healthier ways of eating and living, and a year later she completed her doctorate degree in Holistic Life Counseling as a way of making a living in a new town. After her studies, she decided to start preproduction of Walk Through The Valley, two years after her arrival to North Carolina. Due to a very limited budget, she streamlined the script to prepare for a 9 day shoot, and called upon a casting director to help in casting. Walk Through The Valley was released in December 2015.
