Paramount Global said Monday that its chief financial officer Naveen Chopra is departing “to pursue other opportunities” as the company still awaits FCC approval for the merger with Skydance it announced almost a year ago.

Paramount Global’s chief financial officer Naveen Chopra is exiting to pursue other opportunities, the media giant revealed in an 8-k filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday.

The executive will be replaced in the interim by Andrew Warren, who currently serves as strategic advisor to the Office of the CEO and is the former CFO of Discovery Communications.

Chopra notified the company of his decision to resign effective June 27. It is not the result of any disagreement with the company and its board of directors, including on matters relating to operations, policies, accounting practices or financial reporting, per the filing.

Paramount Global chief financial officer Naveen Chopra is exiting his post at the media company to join gaming platform company Roblox as CFO.

Following Chopra’s departure from Paramount, Andrew Warren — who currently serves as strategic adviser to the office of the CEO and is himself the former CFO of Discovery Communications — will assume the additional role of executive VP and interim CFO at Paramount. The CFO shuffle at Paramount comes as its $8 billion merger deal with Skydance Media is currently in limbo, pending FCC approval.

Per an SEC filing Monday by Paramount, Chopra notified the company of his decision to resign from his position effective June 27.

Chopra will join Roblox as CFO, effective June 30, 2025, the gaming company announced. “Naveen’s experience as CFO at leading companies equips him with invaluable financial and strategic acumen to foster Roblox’s growth,” Roblox CEO and co-founder David Baszucki said in a statement.

Debanjan Dhar: One of the best things about the film is how it knits together this intergenerational understanding, like there’s equal empathy and kindness for the parents and their perspective, as well as the sister’s side, not just the couple. Were those elements present in the original play itself? How did it evolve through the script and with you coming aboard?

Sometimes, I’m delighted to live in a world where we can get Picture This and A Nice Indian Boy, both English-language movies predominantly about the South Asian experience in the West, within a month of each other, and no one bats an eye. If only real life looked as easy. In A Nice Indian Boy, Naveen (Karan Soni) is a not-so-closeted Indian-American who is eager to find love while still being bothered about how the world perceives him. In this context, the nice “Indian boy” happens to be a White man named Jay (Jonathan Groff), who was raised in an Indian household, loves Lord Ganesha, and belts out Ddlj songs in the middle of the street. While Naveen and Jay ultimately want the same thing for themselves, their approach to life is completely different, yet this isn’t a will-they-won’t-they story; it’s a lot more than just that.

A Nice Indian Boy has released its first trailer that stars Karan Soni and Jonathan Groff ahead of its theatrical release next month.

Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially scrapped its Tiana series, which was set to serve as a follow-up to The Princess and The Frog.

According to THR, the project was cancelled as part of the studio's new strategy, which involves moving away from all original longform animated content for the Disney+ streaming service. A spokesperson confirmed there "will be some layoffs in its Vancouver studio as a result of this shift in business strategy."

In addition to Tiana, an untitled feature-length project has also been shelved.

First announced back in 2020, Tiana was being developed as a musical featuring Anika Noni Rose reprising her lead role from the 2009 animated film. While Disney did not respond to request for comment today over the Tiana series cancellation, sources confirm that going forward neither animation studio will be providing long form content for Disney +.
