The 300 cast might not have dined in Hell, but Gerard Butler saw quite a few battle scars during production.
Speaking to People with O'Shea Jackson Jr. to promote their latest film Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, Butler looked back on several movies he starred in and the number of injuries he sustained across all of them. In 300's case, the actor said, "I remember every day somebody was getting taken to the hospital. You'd be doing a fight, you turn around, there's a guy down there, a spear went in his eye. Another time, you turn around, there's a guy over there who just fell, broke his ankle."

Warning: Spoilers for Den of Thieves.
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera hit theaters recently and the film serves as a direct follow-up to the original 2018 heist thriller. Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr. reprise their roles as Nick O'Brien and Donnie Wilson, the cop and criminal duo who can’t seem to rid themselves of each other. The first film follows Donnie and the crew he was brought into as their getaway driver. With ingenious plans to rob the Federal Reserve without anyone ever knowing, it turns out that Donnie was the one in control the entire time. After working as a local bartender near his intended target, he vanishes to Europe following the heist with everyone being none the wiser, except for Nick, of course. However, he doesn’t realize the grand scheme of it all until Donnie is long gone.
The second film picks up shortly after the first one ended.

Lionsgate is coming out swinging at the box office with the company's latest action film breaking a 2-year-old curse. The new sequel Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, featuring a returning Gerard Butler, has debuted strong with its theatrical premiere.
Per Deadline, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has outperformed its expectations by earning $15.5 million in its opening weekend at the domestic box office. This win puts the Den of Thieves sequel as the No. 1 movie, and for Lionsgate, the feat is significant. As Den of Thieves 2: Pantera blasts its way into theaters on January 10, 2025, fans of the original may be surprised to see Big Nick O'Brien (Gerard Butler) defect to the other side. Then again, given how much the maverick leader of The Regulators bent the law and played by his own rules in the first film, perhaps his criminal turn isn't so shocking.
After all, Den of Thieves is most compelling when it parallels the criminal Outlaws, a gang of bank robbers, with the LAPD Regulators tasked with catching them, crystallizing the thin line between the heroes and villains. While it always seemed Nick was one step away from crossing the line, Butler has explained why the morally vexed detective lost his way and felt compelled to abandon the Regulators and join the Outlaws for a risky European diamond heist.

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera finally hit cinemas this weekend, but star O'Shea Jackson Jr. is already looking to the next sequel in the franchise. While it has taken seven years to see Jackson Jr. team up with Gerard Butler again, the latter has already hinted that a third movie will not take that long to make. With that in mind, Jackson Jr. recently told Variety about where he sees his character going in the next movie.
“I’m not gonna sugarcoat it: I’m trying to Vin Diesel this thing. To quote Ryan Reynolds, I want to work with Gerard until he’s 90. I just have so much fun doing these and Christian, Gerard, [producer] Tucker Tooley…I can’t express to them enough how I really feel because that’s just not what guys do, but I’ll tell you. We have never been more back, folks. This week, "Den of Thieves 2" will crash into theaters, bringing exciting action and signaling the return of everyone's favorite perpetually hungover cop, Nicholas "Big Nick" O'Brien, played by Gerard Butler. A sequel to 2018's surprise hit "Den of Thieves," the film has Big Nick breaking bad and teaming up with master thief Donnie Wilson, played by O'Shea Jackson Jr., to pull off a big diamond heist. For his sequel, writer-director Christian Gudegast has increased the scope considerably. While the first film was a down-and-dirty cops and robbers flick set in LA, the sequel heads to Europe for a much bigger score, and leaves plenty of room for more sequels to come.
Interestingly enough, this sequel doesn't just have a simple run-of-the-mill title. Instead, "Den of Thieves 2" has a subtitle: "Pantera." But why? I think a cynical answer could be "because it sounds cool as hell.

The cop goes gangster in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. And if anybody can pull that off with grit and believability in equal measure, it’s Gerard Butler. The Plane and How to Train Your Dragon star reprises his role as Detective 'Big Nick' O’Brien from 2018’s Den of Thieves and brings along O’Shea Jackson Jr. again as the clever heist man, Donnie.
If the first film was an intricately produced cat-and-mouse heist in which a steely detective (Butler) desperately tries to catch a viable foe (Jackson), the second film is director/writer Christian Gudegast's attempt to shake the creative snow globe. He brings Big Nick to the inside of an elaborate European diamond heist and forces him to work with an unlikely partner: Donnie, the man he’s been after all along. That’s a groovy flip, sure, making Den of Thieves 2 2025’s first subversive buddy movie.

I remember when heist movies had memorable characters and scenarios. Den of Thieves certainly didn’t and its only slightly better follow-up, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, tries at the very least, though its efforts ultimately fall flat. The film has less action, which isn’t a bad thing since it builds up suspense for the actual heist and its aftermath, and more talking. Whereas the first film was more gritty and violent, the sequel is more polished and developed. But it’s also the same amount of underwhelming, failing to fully launch despite an intriguing setup.
Sheriff "Big Nick" O'Brien tracks Donnie Wilson to Europe after his daring escape. As Donnie becomes deeply involved with diamond thieves and the Panther mafia, the stakes rise with a plan to rob the world's largest diamond exchange. The film promises intense action and suspense across international borders.

As a movie star, Gerard Butler owns January the way Will Smith once owned Memorial Day and the “Meg” films own August. That Butler’s B-movie thrillers now hold sway over the frozen, box-office-lite oblivion of the early weeks of the year may seem a Pyrrhic victory, but at least he’s the king of something. And Butler’s brusque, beady-eyed, scowling-hulk charisma has aged well. A quick-fire actor in a caveman’s body, he has the ability to lift a piece of pulp so it almost seems like a real movie.
For much of its two-hour-and-24-minute running time, “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera,” the sequel to Butler‘s cops-vs.-crooks heist thriller from 2018, does a satisfying impersonation of a high-end crime film. If you want to know what makes Butler a commanding genre bruiser, look no further than the way he smokes on camera, dragging on a cigarette...

In 2018, Den Of Thieves delivered the goods and was a ballsy attempt to rob the unrobbable Los Angeles Federal Reserve. It did modest but respectable business globally considering its limited ambitions, and that apparently was just enough to justify a sequel. In Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera, Gerard Butler, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and company head to Europe for another brazen robbery, this time at the top-security World Diamond Center in Nice, where the cop and the crook join forces to penetrate a thief-proof vault full of valuable deposit boxes with millions of dollars of jewels including an uber-desirable pink diamond stolen from the Mafia who wants it back. It’s complicated.

Gerard Butler didn’t have the best time filming Den of Thieves 2: Pantera as he shot the movie “with a freshly torn Acl.”
In a new interview, the actor revealed that he filmed the action-intense movie while injured.
“This was a weird time for me at the beginning of this movie because I’d been through a pretty intense surgery, and then I tore my Acl fully about a month later and then started this movie,” Butler told Entertainment Weekly.
He continued, “So I was not in the best shape, and it was a pretty physical movie, and I didn’t have a chance to get the surgery on my Acl, so I made this movie with a freshly torn Acl, and it was pretty rough. But yeah… I wanted to put a ‘but’ in to make it sound positive, but it wasn’t positive; it was a nightmare...

Even without speaking to him, it's clear from his vibrant performance that Detective “Big Nick” O’Brien from the Den of Thieves movies has become one of Gerard Butler’s favorite roles. Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. return as Detective “Big Nick” O’Brien and master thief Donnie Wilson, respectively, in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, the sequel to their 2018 action-heist hit. Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr. return for a Den of Thieves sequel, and the options for where to watch Den of Thieves 2: Pantera vary over time. Butler and Jackson Jr. joined forces for an action/heist movie in the vein of Michael Mann's Heat back in 2018. Despite the mixed-to-negative response from critics, Den of Thieves found an audience at the box office and became a cult favorite. That allowed a sequel to happen with Den of Thieves 2's cast once again headlined by the two main stars of the first film as some new faces join them.
The story of Den of Thieves 2 revolves around Butler's Nick "Big Nick" O'Brien turning away from his life serving the law and joining forces with Jackson Jr.'s Donnie to pull off a new heist. Leaving the streets of Los Angeles behind for a European setting, the Gerard...

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera ransacks theaters on January 10, 2025, giving audiences another daring bank heist seven years after The Outlaws robbed Los Angeles' Federal Reserve. Although The Outlaws' leader, Ray Merrimen (Pablo Schreiber), will not participate in the risky overseas robbery, a handful of characters from the original return for more hyper-violent action as the story moves overseas to London.
Written and directed by Christian Gudegast, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is a direct sequel to the 2018 original bank robbery crime thriller. Aside from several supporting players, at least one main character on each side of the law returns to the sequel, continuing the cat-and-mouse rivalry between The Outlaws and The Regulators. Movie icon Gerard Butler is going to stay busy for a while if the filmmakers of Den of Thieves 2: Pantera get their way. In a recent interview with MovieWeb to discuss the sequel to the hit 2018 heist action thriller, director Christian Gudegast and producer Tucker Tooley were eager to tell us how excited they were about the new film and how it falls into a bigger plan for a larger Den of Thieves universe. In fact, Tooley was quick to note:
“We already have a whole idea of what we're doing next. I don't want to give the plot away, but the design here from the original film to this one to the next one was to be a franchise and to be a franchise about incredibly detailed and clever heists with real people… you know, actors that you relate to. There's all kinds of nuance in their performance.

The Witcher season 4 doesn't have a release date yet, which is no surprise given how the show has recast its lead role with Liam Hemsworth. Geralt of Rivia's mentor will also look different, as Vesemir's actor also won't be returning due to scheduling conflicts. But according to Netflix, the rest of The Witcher's regular cast will be returning, barring those who died during the climactic end of season 3.
The Witcher season 4 will also be bringing on several new cast members, such as fan-favorite vampire Regis, who will be played by Laurence Fishburne, as well as Danny Woodburn as Geralt's friend, the Dwarf swordsman Zoltan Chivay. With these additions, The Witcher's next outing will have a star-studded cast as the Netflix show reaches a tense point of adapting Andrzej Sapkowski's books.

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is the long-awaited follow-up to writer/director Christian Gudegasts 2018 crime thriller Den of Thieves. The sequel once again stars Gerard Butler as Sherriff Big Nick OBrien and OShea Jackson Jr. as the ambitious thief Donnie Wilson and is set after the events of the first film, which saw Wilson pull a huge heist out from under O'Brien's nose. The Scottish actor has been a mainstay on movie screens since his American breakout in 300 back in 2007, and while most of his movies are met with indifference from critics, he remains a solid box office draw, anchoring films that frequently outperform their modest budgets. But besides bigger franchises like How to Train Your Dragon or the trilogy of Olympus Has Fallen, London Has Fallen, and Angel Has Fallen, few of them have warranted making a sequel, though that's about to change with the upcoming Den of Thieves 2: Pantera.
Pantera is a direct sequel to 2018's Den of Thieves, an action-heist film that premiered in the notoriously sleepy January movie season, earning middling reviews but making $80 million on a $30 million budget. The first...

Right now, Netflix is nearing the end of filming on the fourth season of its monster-hunting fantasy show The Witcher. By any standard, this is an important juncture for the series, both onscreen and off. In terms of the story, season 4 marks a turning point as the show heads into its endgame, which will conclude with a fifth and final season set to film in 2025. Actor Liam Hemsworth is now taking up the mantle of Geralt of Rivia after Henry Cavill left the series following its third season.
And Geralt isn't the only character who will look a bit different in The Witcher season 4. Last week, reliable scoop site Redanian Intelligence reported that Kim Bodnia, who played Geralt's witcher mentor Vesemir in The Witcher season 2, isn't returning to the series. That was notable both because Killing Eve star Bodnia was a solid get for the series, but also because season...

There's more bad news for fans of The Witcher, as it's not just Henry Cavill who has bid farewell to The Continent. While Netflix has already found their new White Wolf in Liam Hemsworth, the studio will also have to look for another core Witcher, as Kim Bodnia, who plays Vesemir in the series, will not be returning for the final two seasons. Bodnia portrayed the beloved Witcher tutor in Season 2, as Geralt returned to Kaer Morhen (the Witchers' keep) with Ciri (Freya Allen) and Triss Merigold (Anna Shaffer).
A new report from Redanian Intelligence has confirmed that Kim Bodnia will not play Vesemir in the upcoming fourth season of The Witcher. It did not cite a reason why the Killing Eve star stepped away from the hit fantasy series. Vesemir was confirmed to appear in The Witcher Season 4 a few months ago, when it was also confirmed that Lambert...

News fresh from the Continent! Right now, Netflix is deep into production on the fourth season of its fantasy show The Witcher. The last word we got about season 4 was right around the beginning of this month, when star Liam Hemsworth confirmed that there were about three weeks of filming left for the season. That was roughly two weeks ago, which means production should be calling a wrap any day now.
Hemsworth has some big shoes to fill. This is his first outing with The Witcher, where he's taking on the role of lead monster hunter Geralt of Rivia following the departure of Henry Cavill after the show's third season. Recasting a role is never easy for a series, especially when it's the lead role after the last actor garnered pretty much universal acclaim. Many fans are understandably curious about how the transition from one Geralt to another will work.

After six years, the first official trailer for Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has arrived, giving us our first look at the upcoming heist thriller starring Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr., although it looks like there will be a slight twist to their dynamic this time as, instead of trying to one up one another, they'll be teaming up to pull off the diamond heist of a lifetime.
However, the synopsis is not quite as revealing, telling us that "Big Nick (Butler) is back on the hunt in Europe and closing in on Donnie (Jackson), who is embroiled in the treacherous and unpredictable world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia, as they plot a massive heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange."
In addition to Gerard Butler (300; Olympus Has Fallen) and O'Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton; Godzilla: King of the Monsters) reprising their roles from the previous installment,...

Whether you asked for it or not, Prime Video’s epic fantasy series based on The Lord of the Rings appendices by legendary author J.R.R. Tolkien is back with its much-anticipated second season. Created by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, The Rings of Power had a pretty turbulent first season even with its massive budget of $1 billion but still it was one of the most watched shows on Prime Video, so maybe this season the creators of the series will change hearts and minds of frustrated fans.
In Season 2, Sauron has officially returned and after being cast out by Galadriel and without any allies he must rebuild his power through his cunning to oversee the creation of the Rings of Power. His ultimate plan with the rings is to bend the people of Middle-earth to his will. While the Dark Lord is rising our heroes are also getting ready for his eventual attack.

The rings are once more forged in fire for “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2.
The hit Prime Video series, which made history on the streaming platform upon its debut, is welcoming a familiar face back to the Middle-Earth for its second installment. Charlie Vickers is back as the villainous Sauron, but this time, he’s in a new form to deceive those who try to unite the Second Age realm.
After being cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-Earth to his sinister will, the official synopsis teased.

History stands as a testament that reboots, spin-offs, or adaptations fail the moment makers decide to give their own twist to the mythos. From The Witcher to Eragon, there have been several series and movies that ended up being ridiculed and sneered by fans and critics. And Amazon’s Rings of Power too can be found among such projects.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
Based on the famous J. R. R. Tolkien books, the series provided its own spin on the tale by being set thousands of years before the events in the books. Needless to say, the series was not as well received. And even Lord of the Rings star, the late Bernard Hill had some deeply insulting words to say about the series.

Sam Hazeldine takes on the role of Orc leader Adar in a recasting in the Prime Video series. He replaces Joseph Mawle, who portrayed the character in Season 1. Stars: Jared Rogers, Ed Hartland, Kaitlyn Reynell, Octavia Gilmore, Yasen Atour | Written by Conor Boru, Ed Hartland | Directed by Conor Boru
Written by Ed Hartland (who also stars) and Conor Boru, who also directs his first feature film here, When The Screaming Starts is a comedy-horror in which Norman Graysmith (Jared Rogers), perhaps an homage to Louis Theroux, a documentary film-maker who has made a career documenting the lives of people living on the fringes of society, is invited into the home of an aspiring serial killer, Aiden. Norman thinks this is going to be the documentary that catapults his career into orbit.
The movie doesn’t dilly-dally before revealing it’s tongue-in-cheek satyr and dry British sarcasm, with the introduction of Aiden Mendle (Hartland), the aspiring killer in question. One moment Aiden is friendly and matter-of-fact with his desire to be a successful serial killer, and then he’s staring bullet creepily in doorways.
