Michelle Yeoh is ready to represent ‘Ne Zha 2’ and ‘Wicked: For Good’ at the 2026 Oscars: “They truly deserve it”
Image
The Best Animated Feature race at the 2026 Oscars has a fiery frontrunner in Ne Zha II, the sequel to the record-breaking Chinese megahit that took theaters by storm overseas. The franchise quickly became a cultural juggernaut but hasn’t reached those heights stateside. If the enthusiasm surrounding the series’ sequel is anything to go by, that’s all about to change.

Ne Zha II has one major attractor for finicky Western audiences: the addition of Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, who provides the English voice for the main character’s mother. At a special screening for the new animated film, the voice cast was so ecstatic about being considered coworkers with Yeoh that they were buzzing.

“It’s cliche to say, but it’s a dream come true,” Vincent Rodriguez III, who’s returning as the voice of Li Jing, told us on the carpet. “I’ve never met Michelle. This...

But that was eventually tied by "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber in 2017, and then finally bested by Lil Nas X, whose "Old Town Road" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus commanded the chart for 19 weeks...

Image
Brad Pitt’s F1 is currently dominating headlines and box office records, but Bullet Train leaves it in the dust when it comes to a soundtrack showdown. The 2022 action-comedy movie Bullet Train, based on Kōtarō Isaka’s novel Maria Beetle, wasn’t just a thrilling watch due to its stylistic visuals, amazing cast, and twists, but also the music!

And even though F1’s whole album featured music from global giants, it couldn’t quite deliver the same emotions. Both movies had sky-high ambition, but let’s look at how they compare when it comes to soundtracks and what F1 exactly needed to elevate itself on the musical front.

How Brad Pitt’s Bullet Train Outperformed the Soundtracks of F1 Brad Pitt in Bullet Train | Credits: Columbia Pictures

This 32-Year-Old Country Superstar Is Dominating the Charts With 3 Out of the Top 5 Billboard Spots
Image
Morgan Wallen just pulled off one of the rarest feats in modern Billboard history — claiming three of the top five spots on the Hot 100 simultaneously. That’s right, the 32-year-old country megastar currently holds the chart with “What I Want” (featuring Tate McRae), “Just In Case”, and “I’m The Problem”, all sitting comfortably in the top 5. It's a record-breaking move that proves Wallen isn’t just the face of country music — he’s dominating the entire pop landscape, too.

It’s a staggering flex for an artist whose controversies might’ve derailed someone else’s career years ago. Instead, Wallen’s momentum has only grown stronger, with I’m The Problem — the album that houses two of those singles — still holding the No. 1 spot on the Top Country Albums chart six weeks after debut. And he’s not stopping there.

While I’m The Problem continues to lead the country pack,...

F1 Soundtrack: Every Song and When They Play, Ranked from Last to Pole Position
Image
[Spoiler]

The soundtrack to Brad Pitt’s F1 is nearly as star-studded as the movie itself, which stars Pitt in the shoes of an aging veteran Sonny Hayes, and Damson Idris as talented rookie Joshua Pearce. While the movie still boasts a rocking score from Hans Zimmer, marking the composer’s second collaboration with Joseph Kosinski, it’s the star-studded and diverse soundtrack that really kicks the paddle shifter into overdrive.

There are no bad songs to choose from, as the blend of originals and classics complements the movie’s high octane nature and the rising conflict between Jp and Hayes. However, some tracks do stand out better than others, especially the ones that perfectly underscore the more impactful moments in the movie.

11. Just Cool

Just Cool from Obongjayar plays at the backdrop of the poker scene that sees Kerry Condon’s Kate tricking Damson Idris‘ Joshua and Brad Pitt‘s Sonny into playing poker,...

Image
When studio executives on blockbuster films are looking to make a splash with a star-studded soundtrack to help meet the moment, one of the first calls they’re making these days is likely to Kevin Weaver.

Weaver, the west coast president at Atlantic Records, is on a roll, having co-produced the soundtracks for Barbie in 2023 and Twisters last year, the former of which won the Grammy for best compilation soundtrack for visual media and spawned several hit singles, while the latter’s already been certified gold and, per Weaver, is nearing platinum status.

Now he’s looking to go three-for-three with F1, which hits theaters Friday and is looking to do laps around the competition at the box office this weekend, while F1 the Album officially hit streaming services today as well. Zimmer composed the music for the film, and his score album released Friday as well.

There was a period in the late Nineties and early aughts when every blockbuster movie was seemingly accompanied by an equally-popular soundtrack, with the songs and A-list artists almost as inescapable as the action on screen. The same feeling runs through the star-studded soundtrack to the new F1 movie, which features 17 high-octane tracks that mirror the...

The new song is included on the soundtrack for F1, the new Formula 1 racing film starring Brad Pitt that arrives in theaters next Friday, June 27th. Atop a bluesy, ’70s-inspired riff, Sheeran offers a handful of racing and car-centric lyrics in the raspiest, grittiest vocal tone he can muster. “Ha-la-lay-la/ We can ride/ Four wheels you and I/ Gotta get out of here,” he sings in the anthemic chorus, later unleashing a soulful, escalating command after each refrain: “Petal down and driiiiiiiiive.”

Sabrina Carpenter Lands Second Number One Single With “Manchild”
Image
Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” has debuted atop Billboard’s Hot 100, the publication confirmed Monday, marking Carpenter’s second chart-topping song in her career.

“Manchild,” the lead single off Carpenter’s upcoming seventh album Man’s Best Friend, debuted with 27.1 million streams, per Billboard, while it sold 20,000 units. It dethroned rising Atlantic act Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” which had spent the past two weeks atop the Hot 100. The number one opening comes almost exactly a year after Carpenter landed her first number one last June with “Please Please Please.”

The hot start is a positive sign as Carpenter looks to lock in the song of the summer for another year, after her breakthrough hit “Espresso” became one of the biggest songs of 2024. Elsewhere on the songs chart, Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae’s “What I Want” fell to No. 3, and Wallen’s “Just in Case” came in fourth. Kendrick Lamar and Sza’s “Luther,...

Zara Larsson Doesn’t Want Summer to End on New Song ‘Midnight Sun’
Image
Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson has shared a new song, “Midnight Sun,” which will serve as the title track from her upcoming fourth album, out Sept. 26.

“Midnight Sun” teeters the between ebullient and delirious, with production that nods to frenetic house breakbeats, serene trance synths, and big tent Edm build-ups. Larsson’s vocals and lyrics, meanwhile, give the track pop gem of the summer potential: “It’s the midnight sun, kissed skin under the red sky,” she sings on the chorus, “Laying on your chest like this/Hold me like the pebbles in your hand,...

365 Days of ‘Brat’: How Charli xcx Cultivated a Pop Cultural Phenomenon Her Own Way
Image
“It’s hard being ahead,” Charli xcx declared at an early viewing party for her sixth studio album, Brat, last May, roughly a month before the record’s debut. “We’re all ahead because everybody in here, like, gets it.”

Flash forward a year, it’s been exactly 365 days since Charli debuted the project that defined the summer of 2024 (a la “Brat summer”), had everyone wanting to be a party girl and now unofficially defines the lime green color. A year later, it still feels like Brat summer still hasn’t ended yet (perhaps because she’s still touring the record this summer).

At this point, though, most know that the Essex singer-songwriter breach’s into commercial success was a long-time coming. Of course, Charli broke out years ago, earning her first (and sole) No.1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with she and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” in the summer of 2014.

Coincidentally,...

Can a Stacked Release Week With Lil Wayne Beat Out Morgan Wallen’s Chart Dominance?
Image
It’s a particularly noteworthy New Music Friday this week as Lil Wayne released Tha Carter VI, his first album in five years, while TikTok influencer turned rising pop star Addison Rae released her much-anticipated debut album Addison, and Turnstile, the world’s hottest hardcore band, dropped their latest album Never Enough as well.

Meanwhile, on the singles end, Sabrina Carpenter may have just released the song of the summer with “Manchild,” and Mariah Carey dropped “Type Dangerous,” her first new single in years. All that music’s made for one of the most-stacked release days of 2025 and brings with it lots of chart intrigue as all the stars are vying for the top spots.

In the album race, Morgan Wallen is the current champion as I’m The Problem is one of the biggest records of the year. It debuted atop Billboard’s albums chart with 493,000 units two weeks ago,...

Image
On Thursday, Tiësto and Sexyy Red released “Omg,” a track from F1 the Album (the soundtrack of F1 the Movie). The two get the party started over thumping club drums and spacey synths. Sexyy begins the track rhyming, “Airplanes on the roof, body get high like a balloon / Hurricane in the room, and they’re like, ‘Oh, my God’” on the chorus. She then follows up with a characteristically braggadocious verse where she raps, “bad bitch so I’m breakin all the rules / pay my own bills, I do what I wanna do,...

Shane Gillis Blames Tate McRae Fans for His ‘SNL’ Monologue Disaster
Image
Shane Gillis hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time back in 2024, complete with an irony-free sketch about an office Hr meeting starring the guy who was fired from the show in 2019.

Gillis returned to host Saturday Night Live for a second time this past March. And while his fans no doubt enjoyed the appearance, others weren’t so thrilled with the episode. Especially controversial was the opening monologue, in which Gillis casually riffed on Trump’s threats to annex Greenland and delved into his own admittedly “racist” insecurity over his girlfriend’s diverse sexual history.

The crowd’s reaction to the monologue was mixed at best, but coming from the typically over-charitable SNL audience, the performance was quickly labeled a “bomb” by the media, and criticized for its tone-deafness.

But if you ask Gillis what went wrong, he’ll tell you that the real problem wasn’t his material,...

For the musical portion of this episode, Canadian singer, songwriter and dancer Tate McRae showed up to deliver some musical performances. If you guys happened to have missed that particular repeat episode of Saturday Night Live when it originally aired, you might still want to flip on NBC tonight to check it out.

Morgan Wallen Is America’s Problem
Image
You could say that Morgan Wallen has achieved his 2020s pop domination by brute force. His last two albums — 2021’s Dangerous: The Double Album and 2023’s One Thing at a Time — clock in at 30 and 36 tracks respectively, which thanks to streaming-era math is a boon to one’s chart fortunes. Just look at the current albums chart: Both releases are still in the Billboard 200’s top ten as of this writing, with Thing at Number 4 and Dangerous at Number 9, and they’ve each clocked in more than 100 weeks in the album chart’s highest echelon.

Hours After Release, Morgan Wallen’s ‘I’m The Problem’ Is Already Spotify’s Most-Streamed Country Album of 2025
Image
It’s been only about half a day, and Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem is already the most-streamed country album of 2025, Spotify confirmed Friday.

Spotify didn’t disclose streaming numbers on release day so far but shared the impressive stat on social media.

Wallen’s fourth album was widely expected in the industry to become one of the biggest records of the year given Wallen’s own pedigree as country’s biggest streaming superstar. Wallen’s 2023 album One Thing at a Time is still sitting at number four on Billboard’s 200 Albums chart as of Friday, and it’s stayed on the chart for 114 weeks. 2021’s Dangerous: The Double Album, meanwhile, is still at number nine on the chart and has spent 226 weeks on the chart.

The record’s success continued over the weekend. On Saturday, Apple Music announced that I’m The Problem had broken the record...
