Suite Life's Kim Rhodes Praises Dylan Sprouse for Refusing 'Fat Joke' About Her
Image
Dylan Sprouse is getting a lot of praise on social media for standing up for co-star Kim Rhodes by refusing to have his character use a "fat joke" on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

On the Disney Channel sitcom, Sprouse and twin brother Cole Sprouse played the titular characters, while Kim Rhodes co-starred as their mother, Carey Martin. For a recent appearance on the Back to the Best podcast, Rhodes reflected on how the Sprouse twins had defended her "all the way through" the show's production, expressing her gratitude for the former child stars. Rhodes, who was pregnant at the time, also described one incident in particular where Dylan's Zack was scripted to joke about his mother's weight. The young actor is said to have outright refused to say the line, pushing back when a producer demanded that he do so.

Dylan Sprouse's kindness and respect towards Kim Rhodes is evident when he refused to deliver a fat joke at her expense on the set of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Sprouse's decision to skip the line and stand up to the executive producer shows his maturity and integrity, especially considering his young age during the show's run. Dylan Sprouse's post-Disney career has been unique and diverse, including acting in films and video games.

The Suite Life of Zack & Cody’s Kim Rhodes recounts Dylan Sprouse’s kindness on the Disney show. The Suite Life of Zack & Cody ran on Disney Channel for three seasons from 2005 to 2008 before being spun off into The Suite Life on Deck. Rhodes played Carey Martin, mother to the titular Zack (Dylan Sprouse) and Cody (Cole Sprouse) Martin in the series.

Former Disney Channel Star Opens Up About The Difficult Reality Many Television Actors Face
Image
Former Disney Channel star Kim Rhodes, from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, opens up about the difficult reality many television actors face. One of the network’s most popular shows, The Suite Life aired for three seasons and followed twin brothers (Cole and Dylan Sprouse) living at the Tipton Hotel in Boston. Rhodes portrayed Carey Martin, the single mother of Zack and Cody who sang at the hotel’s lounge and was a main character throughout the series’ run.

When SAG-AFTRA went on strike, Rhodes spoke out about the reality faced by many actors working in television. Check out her comments in the tweet below:

I did a show that aired on Disney Channel eight times a week, minimum. At The Same Time, my 1600 sq foot home was foreclosed on and I lost health insurance for myself, my husband, and my child because of the residual structure. #SAGAFTRAstrike...

15 Secrets About The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Including the "Worst" Kiss With Zac Efron
Cole Sprouse
More than 15 years later, we're still suite on the Sprouse twins. Dylan and Cole Sprouse became two of the biggest stars in young Hollywood when their hit series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody debuted on the Disney Channel in March 2005, quickly becoming one the network's highest rated and most popular shows.  Starring the twins as brothers who live and stir up trouble in a Boston hotel where their mom is a lounge singer (shout-out to Carey Martin!), the beloved sitcom also helped launch the careers of Ashley Tisdale and Brenda Song, as well as Debby Ryan, who joined the series when it continued on the high seas as The Suite Life on...

Kim Rhodes in Supernatural (2005)
What would happen if you put a Disney Channel mom and a CW mom in the same room? True, it’s a scenario you’ve probably never thought about, but Kim Rhodes is here to give us an answer.

The actress is best known for playing Carey Martin, the zany mother on “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” — and a few episodes of its spinoff “The Suite Life on Deck” — as well as Jody Mills on The CW’s long-running hit “Supernatural.” Like many, Rhodes joined TikTok during quarantine, cataloging her descent into cabin fever.

Knowing her audience, Rhodes literally made her bio “The person who played Zack and Cody’s mom And that cop on Supernatural.” But on February 2, she took things a step further. On February 2, 2021, Jody Mills and Carey Martin came face to face.
