Gwyneth Goes Skiing, an immersive stage musical inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow’s legal battle with optician Terry Sanderson, is headed to the U.S.

The musical initially debuted in London with two sold-out runs. Producers Awkward Productions are now planning to bring it to Park City, Utah in January of 2025 followed by stops at Soho Playhouse in New York City and the Elysian in Los Angeles later that month.

Gwyneth Goes Skiing tells the story of Paltrow’s legal battle with Sanderson, who sued her after she collided with him on the ski slopes.

Update: Gwyneth Goes Skiing, the stage musical comedy parody of Gwyneth Paltrow’s infamous ski trial will slide from London to the United States, via Edinburgh, later this year, with Paltrow’s former Glee co-star Darren Criss lending some pre-recorded vocal tracks.

Producer Awkward Productions announced today on social media that the 90-minute musical, which concluded its run at London’s Pleasance Theatre on February 16, will next play at this summer’s Edinburgh Fringe, with a subsequent engagement planned for later this year at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City, Utah.

The musical stars theater actors Linus Karp as Paltrow and Joseph Martin as optometrist Terry Sanderson, with Criss and comedian Catherine Cohen lending pre-recorded singing vocals to an unspecified number of songs for the Edinburgh and Park City stagings.

A musical inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow‘s ski trial is opening soon!

Earlier this year, the 50-year-old actress was involved in a civil trial after retired optometrist Terry Sanderson sued her, alleging that Gwyneth collided with him from behind while he was skiing with an instructor at Deer Valley Resort in Utah in February 2016.

Gwyneth was awarded a symbolic $1 at the end of the trial, as Terry was ruled 100% at fault for the crash.

A London theatre has announced Gwyneth Goes Skiing, a satire musical based on the actress and wellness guru’s 2016 ski slope collision with a retired optometrist and subsequent 2023 courtroom battle, where she successfully defended herself against a lawsuit.

Reads the musical’s official description on the Pleasance Theatre site: “She’s the Goop-founding, Door-Sliding, Shakespeare-In-Loving, consciously-uncoupling Hollywood superstar. He’s a retired Optometrist from Utah. In 2016, they went skiing. On the slopes of Deer Valley, their worlds collided, and so did they – literally. Ouch. Seven years later in 2023, they went to court. Double ouch. This is their story. Kind of. Not really. But also, it’s at Christmas.”

The audience will also get to serve as the jury and help decide Paltrow’s legal fate.
