Hugh Jackman’s ‘Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie’ Moves Baa To Pre-Thanksgiving 2026
Image
Exclusive: We can tell you first that Amazon MGM Studios’ action comedy Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie is moving baa, err, back from Feb 20 next year to the Nov. 13, 2026 slot. Amazon MGM Studios has been in that pre-Thanksgiving corridor before with last year’s Dwayne Johnson-Chris Evans’ Santa Claus movie Red One. The reason behind the shift I hear is to pull in more families.

Currently, there’s only an untitled Universal movie on the pic’s new date.

The Kyle Balda directed, Craig Mazin written Working Title and Three Strange Angels production follows George Hardy (Hugh Jackman), a shepherd who loves his sheep and raises them only for their wool. Every night he reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand, but never suspecting that not only can they understand but they argue for hours afterwards about whodunnit. When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances,...

Hugh Jackman Unveils 'Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie' at CinemaCon
Image
Here's one you might not have "herd" about: Hugh Jackman is trading his Wolverine claws for Shepherding horns, as he is starring alongside Emma Thompson in Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie. The movie, as you may have guessed from its very specific title, is a detective story involving sheep, but since that is a slightly elusive and broad premise, the MCU actor appeared in a video segment at CinemaCon 2025 to provide a few more details about it. He also unveiled the first footage for the upcoming Amazon feature, which he describes as "a bit of a whodunit."

The footage, shown during the Amazon MGM Studios panel on Wednesday night, which was attended by The Hollywood Reporter, was succeeded by Thompson expressing her joy and enthusiasm for the project. "It was, as you'll see from the clip, the most fantastic, loving, beautiful idea, this synthesis between animals and people,...

Hugh Jackman Unveils Sheep-Filled Footage for Detective Film ‘Three Bags Full’
Image
Hugh Jackman will soon be in his shepherd era.

The multi-hyphenate’s upcoming film, Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie, got a CinemaCon reveal Wednesday night during the Amazon MGM Studios presentation inside the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Jackman and co-star Emma Thompson appeared in a video segment during the event to tease the film. “It was, as you’ll see from the clip, the most fantastic, loving, beautiful idea, this synthesis between animals and people,” she said.

Added Jackman about the film Kyle Balda directed from Craig Mazin’s script: “Craig Mazin’s wit is just second to none.”

The footage from the movie included, unsurprisingly, plenty of sheep. “The movie is a bit of a whodunit, which is always fun,” Jackman said in one behind-the-scenes clip. “The movie has such heart.”

Directed by blockbuster animation director Balda (Minions, Despicable Me 3) from a screenplay by...

‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Dodged Every Twist Thrown at Hollywood to Become a Hit Franchise
Image
April 30, 2019. A day that will live in hedgehog infamy. One that was anticipated by millions of gamers with visions of Dreamcast controllers and Chaos Emeralds in their heads but was instead marked by small humanoid eyes, distractingly flat teeth, and two words that would become a meme:

“Uh…meow?”

The initial trailer for Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” became one of the most widely disliked videos ever put forth by a Hollywood studio at a speed that would rival even that of the Fastest Thing Alive. YouTube videos, tweets and gaming media rants spread across the web in a matter of hours, denouncing the film as the latest example of why, in a pre-“Detective Pikachu” world, gamers did not trust Hollywood to do right by the characters and worlds that they love.

For the film’s director, Jeff Fowler, there was only one thing to do: win back that trust,...

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Already Revealed Its Best Post-Credits Tease 2 Years Ago
Image
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 subtly teased the Babylon Rogues for future movies through ancient inscriptions found by Sonic and Tails in Siberia. If introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog 3's post-credits, the Babylon Rogues may have close ties to Sonic's homeworld and the Master Emerald. The possible appearance of the Rogues in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 could offer insights into Sonic's past and tie up loose ends from previous movies.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3's best possible post-credits scene was secretly revealed two years ago during Sonic the Hedgehog 2, setting the stage for a major storyline in future movies. Both films in Paramount's Sonic movie universe have included post-credits scenes teasing the next adventure to come. Sonic the Hedgehog 2's post-credits scene revealed Shadow the Hedgehog, who will be the newest antagonist in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3. These scenes act as stepping stones between entries in the movie universe,...

Everything We Know So Far About Sonic The Hedgehog Spin-Off Series Knuckles
Image
For better or worse, the next big bet in Hollywood right now is video games. "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" is the biggest film of 2023 so far. "The Last of Us" earned strong reviews from television critics, although some game critics were more skeptical. Even the anime series "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" -- a spin-off of "Cyberpunk 2077" -- sniped anime of the year at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

Leading the charge was 2020's "Sonic the Hedgehog," which survived terrible initial press to score the best opening weekend box office ever for a video game film at the time of its release. A committed performance by Jim Carrey helped, as did a Sonic redesign led by Tyson Hesse and a hard-working team of visual effects artists. Its sequel, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," made even more money.

Next up we've "Knuckles," a Paramount+ television series featuring everybody's favorite grumpy echidna voiced by Idris Elba.

Sci-Fi Fan Petitions That Became A Reality
Image
Science fiction franchises live and die based on the response that they get from fans. The passionate fans of franchises like Marvel, DC, "Star Wars," "Star Trek," "Doctor Who," and "Battlestar Galactica" are known for making their opinions heard. In the era of social media, there is more opportunity than ever before for fans to discuss the franchises that they love. Audiences flock to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Letterboxd to urge studios to make decisions.

Like all elements of fan culture, petitions and requests have a dark side. While it's understandable to be upset with a creative decision, harassing the actors, writers, and directors is never okay. The discourse around some franchises like "Star Wars" has become dominated by a toxic minority that makes sexist, racist, and xenophobic remarks. It's important to remember that these detractors do not represent the entire fan community. Studios should not feel that they have...

‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Expected to Spin Dash to $45 Million Opening at Box Office
Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” arrived on box office tracking on Thursday morning, and estimates are predicting an opening weekend of $40-45 million.

That would be a solid start for this family film adaptation of the Sega video game series, especially considering the viral reaction to the film’s initial trailer. Sonic fans and casual gamers alike panned the heavily altered version of the speedy blue hedgehog, prompting Paramount to push the film’s release from November 2019 to February in order to redesign Sonic to more closely resemble his appearance in Sega’s games.

The new version, which was overseen by Sonic animator Tyson Hesse, was far better received by fans when Paramount released a second trailer in November, deleting the one with the original design from their YouTube page. IndieWire reported that the redesign cost $5 million,...

Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Redesign Wins Over Fans According to Trending Poll
Fans cried foul when they first got a taste of the iconic video game speedster in Paramount Pictures' upcoming live-action adventure comedy Sonic the Hedgehog. The movie was supposed to open this past weekend, but the outcry was so loud and so harsh, that the studio shuffled the release to this Valentine's Day, opting to redesign Sonic. Today, we got a trailer for the updated movie, giving us all a look at the redesign in action. Guess what? Fans love it.

At least according to a new trending poll. SEMrush, a trends data provider, tracked Twitter sentiment surrounding variations of the trailer and the response was overwhelming. 73.68% of all tweets were positive when describing Sonic's new look, while only 6.85% were negative.

Overwhelming applause was also highlighted for the Sonic the Hedgehog redesign trailer, as the clapping emoji was the most used in all tweets. So it appears that all that extra handwork has paid off.

Sonic Mania Adventures (2018)
Watch the Second Episode of ‘Sonic Mania Adventures’
Sonic Mania Adventures (2018)
Sega just released the second episode of “Sonic Mania Adventures” on YouTube. The animated web series is five episodes long and features story elements from the “Sonic Mania” and “Sonic Forces” video game franchises.

The series’ first episode shows what happens when Sonic returned to Angel Island following the events of the two games. Someone is digging huge holes in the ground, while villain Eggman is capturing animals again. In episode 2, Sonic and his old friend Miles “Tails” Prower investigate a mysterious tremor at the beach, and the speedy blue hedgehog learns that to succeed, sometimes all you need is a helping hand.

The web shorts are written and directed by Tyson Hesse, who’s perhaps best known for his work on the “Sonic the Hedgehog” comic book series from Archie Comics. He also created “Sonic Mania’s” opening animation, which has garnered over 15 million views globally on YouTube, according to Sega.
