Vince McMahon’s Failure Forced Jon Moxley to Leave All the Money From WWE Behind Even If He Wanted It Badly
Image
Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose was one of the biggest breakout stars after the Shield broke up in 2014. His feud with Seth Rollins dominated the airwaves and became the main event rivalry for WWE. Moxley’s unhinged Mick Foley/Brian Pillman-esque persona went over big with the crowd. Yet, Moxley was unsatisfied later on with his booking.

He became the WWE champion in 2016 and has won multiple other titles. Hence, the question we must ask is, what went wrong? Why was Jon Moxley not happy with his career in WWE? What made him move to Aew? The answers will sound very familiar to anyone following wrestling for more than a decade or two.

Jon Moxley was immensely successful in WWE as Dean Ambrose

It is important to know what Jon Moxley was before signing with WWE. In the independent scene, Moxley cuts his teeth doing deathmatches. He faced talent like...

“I Want To Spend My Time Working Hard”: David Arquette Is Just as Passionate About Wrestling as He Is About Acting
Image
David Arquette has always carved his own path, whether it was through the world of horror with Scream, the wrestling ring with WCW, or now the crime-ridden streets of Mob Cops. Speaking to Collider’s Aidan Kelley while promoting the new film — which also stars Kevin Connolly, Jeremy Luke and Graham Sibley — Arquette reflected on his wrestling journey, his passion projects, and why he never set out to be a trailblazer — even if that’s exactly what he became. When asked about his impact on the wrestling world — particularly after the release of his critically acclaimed documentary You Can't Kill David Arquette — the actor was as humble as ever.

"I don’t know. I’ve never seen myself, really, as a trailblazer," Arquette said with a laugh. "I do things that I love, that I have a passion for, that I want to spend my time working hard at. That's...

Aew Draws Domino’s Ire for Ad Placement During Chris Jericho-Nick Gage No Dq Match
Image
Updated: Domino’s Pizza may be slicing their ties with All Elite Wrestling (Aew) after one of their ads ran during a particularly bloody match on Wednesday night.

In Wednesday’s episode of “Dynamite” on TNT, Aew star Chris Jericho went up against legendary deathmatch wrestler Nick Gage in a no disqualification match that featured baseball bats, panes of glass, fluorescent light tubes, and more. At one point during the match, Gage used a pizza slicer and appeared to cut Jericho’s forehead. At the same time, Aew ran a picture-in-picture ad for Dominos that began with someone cutting up a pizza using a pizza slicer.

“Domino’s was not involved, nor had any foreknowledge, of the gory scene on the ‘Aew: Dynamite’ main event Wednesday night that showed wrestler Nick Gage apparently slicing Chris Jericho’s head open with a pizza cutter,” a Domino’s spokesperson said in a statement to Front Office Sports.

‘Dark Side of the Ring’ Season 3 and Spinoff ‘Dark Side of Football’ Get Vice Premiere Dates, Trailers (Video)
Dark Side of the Ring (2019)
Vice TV has set the premiere dates for “Dark Side of the Ring” Season 3 and spinoff “Dark Side of Football.” Both also now have (violent) trailers.

Ok, so the sneak peek for “Football” is more of a teaser. While it may appear from the brief video that Joe Paterno and Penn State are being profiled, a spokesperson for Vice told TheWrap this first season will focus completely on professional football.

The third season of “Dark Side of the Ring” will debut on Thursday, May 6 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.

In that trailer, Aew wrestler Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose in WWE) reminds viewers that professional wrestling is not always “a children’s TV show on Saturday morning” — it’s sometimes “a fight.”

Then actor David Arquette gets awfully bloodied, admitting, “I was in over my head.”

As for legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette, he just wants to “do ‘The Happy...

‘You Cannot Kill David Arquette’ Review: Documenting an Actor’s Obsession with Professional Wrestling
Image
In 2000, David Arquette, coming off “Never Been Kissed” and the third “Scream” film, co-starred in a comedy called “Ready to Rumble,” which attempted to satirize the hyperbolic freak show of professional wrestling. To promote the movie, Arquette got woven into World Championship Wrestling storylines, mostly as a comic foil — after all, he wasn’t a real wrestler. But a few weeks into the film’s release, in a setup bogus enough to shame Andy Kaufman, it was arranged that Arquette would win a fight to become the WCW Heavyweight Champion. Which he did (his reign lasted all of 12 days).

This was a stunt so outlandish that wrestling fans considered it a bridge of fakery too far. Some said that Arquette’s championship had ruined the sport. So even though Arquette, a wrestling aficionado from way back, was just riding the cross-promotional PR train and doing what he’d been told,...

Review: You Cannot Kill David Arquette is One of the Best Documentaries (and Films) of the Year
Image
Before I start this review, I feel like I should go ahead and just admit a few things. One, I am a ridiculously huge fan of David Arquette and his work, which includes his performances in the Scream series to Ready to Rumble to his directorial effort on The Tripper and everything in between. And two, I’m one of the few people out there who was actually excited when he was working in WCW. With that in mind, I was already totally and completely on board for You Cannot Kill David Arquette before I even saw a single minute of footage. But now that I have had the opportunity to check out this all-encompassing project from directors David Darg and Price James, You Cannot Kill David Arquette quickly has become not only my favorite documentary of 2020, but one of my favorite films, regardless of category, of the year as well.

Listen to David Arquette Discuss New Documentary You Cannot Kill David Arquette, Professional Wrestling, Scream 5, and Ready To Rumble on a New Episode of Corpse Club
Image
From Benny in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dewey Riley in the Scream movies to Rob Geller in Never Been Kissed and Chris McCormick in Eight Legged Freaks, David Arquette has played many unique roles in his career, but his most memorable onscreen appearance may come as himself in You Cannot Kill David Arquette.

On this special episode of Corpse Club, Heather Wixson is joined by special guest Arquette to discuss the new documentary, which chronicles his return to professional wrestling, his quest for redemption following his divisive WCW World Heavyweight Championship win in 2000, and his undying passion for the professional sport.

Arquette also reflects on working with Martin Landau in the wrestling movie Ready to Rumble, talks about his life-threatening Gwc deathmatch with Nick Gage, and discusses his anticipated return to the role of Dewey Riley in Scream 5, the first movie in the franchise to not be directed by the late,...

David Arquette Returns to Wrestling for Insane-Sounding Hair Match
David Arquette
Many believed David Arquette was done with wrestling after an insane deathmatch this past November left him bloodied and beaten. Now, the actor-turned-wrestler has signed up for his next gig in the ring, and it sounds like it has the potential to be insanely watchable.

Arquette appeared at a news conference on Friday night to hype up his next big match, which will put him up against the burly veteran pro wrestler known as Jocephus. They will be putting it all on the line in what is being called a 'hair match'. They pair will be battling under the National Wrestling Alliance banner. The stakes are that who ever loses this intense bout will have to shave their head clean.

That sounds a little better than succumbing to death from fixture beatings. Believe it or not, former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is the Nwa President. And he was on hand during the press conference,...

David Arquette Has ‘Zero Plans’ to Be in Another Gory Wrestling ‘Death Match’
David Arquette
David Arquette said his gruesome, bloody injury from Friday night’s wrestling “death match” was because of his “lack of experience.”

“Don’t try this at home,” the actor/producer wrote in a Twitter message on Monday.

Arquette climbed in the ring on Friday night at GCW’s Joey Janela’s L.A. Confidential with Combat Zone Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion Nick Gage, who hit him over the head with a light-bulb tube. The glass shattered, with a shard cutting into Arquette’s neck, which began to bleed profusely.

Wrestling Death Match Leaves David Arquette Bloody and Injured
David Arquette
David Arquette took on Nick Gage in a hardcore wresting death match, which left the actor with a bloodied face. Back in September, the 47-year old actor revealed that he was making a return to the world of wrestling for a comeback, to take on the trolls. However, this time around he was going the indie route and taking on Gage for a death match that involved numerous props, including a pizza slicer and light tubes, which caused much of Arquette's bleeding. After the fight was over, Arquette left the ring, only to return pretty heated.

Graphic video of the death match between David Arquette and Nick Gage has found its way online. After the fight, the actor can be seen clutching his neck, realizing that he was injured pretty badly. Arquette could be seen with shards of glass lodged in his skin from the light tubes with blood gushing out.

David Arquette Is a Wrestler Now, and a "Death Match" Left Him Brutalized
David Arquette
If you think there are no second acts in American life, just look to David Arquette. The actor, best known for his role in the Scream Franchise, has made a name for himself in recent months as a professional wrestler traversing the independent circuit, which might come as a surprise to anyone who never saw Ready to Rumble. Arquette starred in the 2000 pro-wrestling comedy at around the same time he implausibly became WCW World Heavyweight Champion, an ill-advised development that has often been cited as a death knell for the now-defunct company.

Though his tenure has been going well so far, last night Arquette participated in his first death match — an ultra-violent spectacle in which everything from pizza cutters to light tubes are acceptable weapons — and was left with a serious wound to the neck that almost resulted in the match ending early.

Exclusive Video: David Arquette Was in a Death Match Last Night and It Was Brutal
Last night, I had the opportunity to check out Joey Janela’s La Confidential, which was hosted by Gcw at the Hi Hat in Los Angeles, and the final match of the night was one for the ages. The main event featured Gcw champ Nick Gage taking on none other than David Arquette in a Death Match that resulted in the actor having to rush out of the ring right after the bout was finished due to the fact that he somehow got punctured in the jugular area during a spot with light tubes. Arquette looked even worse at the end of La Confidential than he did during the first two Scream movies, but like the pro he is, he somehow managed to finish the match while holding his hand over his throat at the same time.

I was sitting only a few rows away from all the grisly action...
