Joe Manganiello Was Deceptive When He Auditioned For Survivor
Image
Throughout the history of Survivor, the show has featured many seasons that fans love to rank. One of the many reasons why the show has enjoyed so much longevity is that it has featured so many great players. After all, viewers who are no longer worried about which seasons to watch first tend to care about the show's cast so much that it is sad when players get medically evacuated.

Since Jeff Probst's show has been one of the best reality TV shows for a long time, fans know that generations of people have gotten to audition. However, most Survivor viewers have no idea that Deal or No Deal Island's host Joe Manganiello once lied while he auditioned to get on the show.

These Former Survivor Players Are Now Thriving In Hollywood
Image
Survivor has been on air for more than 40 seasons, in which time a healthy number of alumni have also gone on to make a real name for themselves beyond the show in Hollywood.

As of August 2024, a total of 715 people had played the CBS Reality TV competition series. This includes the 18 who contested for the crown in the 47th installment of the show, filmed in May and June, and penciled in for a September 18 premiere.

In those dozens of years, the series has produced some really iconic players, such as old-time legend Boston Rob Mariano, deemed by many to be the most iconic of all.

The Oldest Players In Survivor History
Image
When most Survivor fans think of the reality TV show, it is Jeff Probst that comes to mind first and foremost. However, once fans figure out which seasons to watch first, they will realize that it is the show's players that make some seasons better than others. For that reason, it is always a shame when Survivor players get medically evacuated for whatever reason.

Considering how important the players are to Survivor's success, it is fascinating to look at who the people who've appeared on the show are. One perfect example of that is the fact that it is interesting to look at who the oldest people to ever play Survivor have been.

Rudy Boesch Was Survivor's Oldest Player Ever... Twice

Over time, Survivor became a more youth-oriented show. However, when the show's first season was still airing, the show's producers clearly were still figuring out what Survivor...

Survivor: Kaôh Rong - Top 10 Castaways, Ranked By Strategy
Image
With Survivor: Kaôh Rōng coming to Netflix, it is interesting and fun to see how this intelligent cast compares to one another strategically. The cast in a Survivor season is always what makes or breaks it, but luckily Survivor: Kaôh Rōng's was perfect, as there was a great mix of characters with all different strengths. Some focused more on their social game, while others leaned more toward being physical. The majority of the cast, however, had the strategic chops to be considered good players.

It will be fun for fans to relive this season again and all the drama that came with it. This season was great, like Survivor season 43, because the cast committed to making big plays, which resulted in a lot of fascinating twists. With so many players focusing on being strategic masterminds, it made some castaways Survivor legends, while others fell flat on their faces. Regardless of the result,...

‘Axeman: Redux’ Review
Image
Stars: Elissa Dowling, Joston Theney, Tiffany Shepis, Brinke Stevens, Scot Pollard, Stephen Eith, Chantelle Albers, Jamie Bernadette, Erin Marie Hogan, Eliza Kiss, Nihilist Gelo, Carlos Javier Castillo, Ray Trickitt | Written and Directed by Joston Theney

Axeman at Cutters Creek is a pretty great name for a horror movie so I’m not sure why this has been changed to Axeman: Redux. Although I know it will probably be a low budget affair, it still manages to conjure up images of classic eighties slashers with great death scenes and great gore. All this from the title alone, at least for me.

And the opening scene keeps in with that spirit. Very much feeling like a tribute to those eighties horror movies. Unfortunately it never manages to get to the heights of any classics, in fact it shares more in common with the eighties horror that is not so fondly remembered.

New trailer for re-cut redux of ‘Axeman At Cutter’s Creek’
Image
SinningWorks and filmmaker Joston “El Rey” Theney are set to return May 7th alongside the axe-wielding local legend known as Axeman At Cutter’s Creek.

Theney confirmed the new release of the 80’s inspired film formerly known as Axeman which will serve as a reboot to the franchise rather than a simple re-release. It stars genre vets Tiffany Shepis, Brinkes Stevens, Elissa Dowling, Jamie Bernadette and Erin Maria Hogan, and NBA basketball star Scot Pollard. Theney had this to say:

Axeman was a fun movie to make and I’m so appreciative of the super supportive fanbase. But, to no fault of the cast and crew, it got rushed and we never really put our movie’s best foot forward. This one’ll include never-before-seen footage and a slicker, faster 80 minute run-time. What really killed me was not wrapping up the film as originally intended. It was envisioned as a...

Nick Offerman
Nick Offerman Was Almost a Contestant on ‘Survivor’
Nick Offerman
Nick Offerman is a man of nature. Known for his work beyond his acting career as a builder of high-quality, hand-crafted furniture, one would assume that he has the skill to best a number of opponents in a battle of outdoor wits.

On the most recent episode of the podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” Offerman and wife Megan Mullally delved into their deep love for the long-running CBS reality show “Survivor.” According to Offerman, he once got close to taking part in a season.

“It’s been discussed. We’ve sincerely looked at it in reality,” Offerman said.

“It was actually maybe going to happen and then he got an acting job,” Mullally added.

Of course, brute knowledge of outdoor survival skills isn’t enough to win a show like this. It requires a certain amount of psychological maneuvering which Offerman’s not 100% sure he has.

“I think it would be really fun.

Zeke Smith Voted Off Survivor 3 Weeks After Being Outed as Transgender During Tribal Council
Zeke Smith
A version of this article originally appeared on EW.com.

That is how you play Survivor! We begin this week’s recap by giving credit where credit is due. And the credit goes to Andrea Boehlke. I’m not just saying this so she is nice to me on the Survivor Fan Forum set we share every week and doesn’t spit in the water they place in the goofy tiki cup with the umbrella in front of me. I’m saying it because she had a hell of an episode — mastering pretty much everything there was to master.

SXSW 2017 Interview: Behind The Mask Cast & Crew on the Past, Present, and Future of Leslie Vernon
While in Austin at the 2017 SXSW Film Festival, I had the opportunity to catch up with a variety of folks responsible for the modern cult classic Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, which celebrated its 10th anniversary with several screenings as part of the fest’s midnight lineup. Those on hand for the interview included co-writer/director Scott Glosserman, co-writer/producer David J. Stieve, star Nathan Baesel, and co-star Ben Pace.

As it turns out, when you get a group of filmmakers who also happen to be great friends together in one room for an interview, things can get a little nutty. That being said, we have some great highlights from Daily Dead’s in-depth chat with the gang behind one of the more boundary-pushing genre films of the last several decades, including the risk involved with making Behind the Mask, the legacy of Leslie Vernon, how they...

'Survivor' Names Surprising Winner, Reveals Generation Battle for Season 33
What a ride. "Survivor: Kaôh Rōng," aka Season 32 -- and the second to carry the "Brains, Brawn, and Beauty" theme -- ended last night with a dramatic two hour finale and one-hour reunion show. Who won the $1 million and title of Sole Survivor? Mark the Chicken! Ok, maybe not, but he earned it. He was even there at Final Tribal on Tai Trang's lap.

It would have been awesome if #MarkTheChicken came in carrying the urn with votes #SurvivorFinale pic.twitter.com/ltWnfnH6NN

— Henry Goldblatt (@HenryGoldblatt) May 19, 2016

In the end, the only two players to get votes were Aubry Bracco (Brains) and Michele Fitzgerald (Beauty), with Tai (Beauty) as the "goat." Aubry got two votes (Joe, Debbie) and Michele got five (Julia, Cydney, Nick, Jason, Scot), so it was a solid win for Michele. That was a surprise to many fans, who thought strong strategist/confessional queen...

Watch: Fowl Play! CBS Releases New Survivor Opening Credits – with a Twist
Survivor (2000)
Every season, someone emerges as a Survivor fan favorite.

Back in 2000, people actually wrote songs about Survivor's first sweetheart, the quirky and cute Colleen Haskell. Haskell parlayed that fame into a leading role in a Rob Schneider movie before vanishing from public life. (Speaking of Colleen, does anyone know where she is these days? Asking for a friend.)

We've seen other favorites come and go: Rupert, Russell, Cirie, Joe. CBS knows how to promote these fan favorites – casting them on subsequent seasons, booking them on soap operas and even having them compete on The Price Is Right.

But this is a first.

Scot Pollard in Survivor (2000)
'Survivor: Kaoh Rong' Predictions: Who is Going Home in Week 11?
Scot Pollard in Survivor (2000)
Last time on Survivor: Kaoh Rong, Aubry Bracco was able to sway Tai Trang over to her side and away from bullies Kyle Jason and Scot Pollard. Jason had immunity, so he gave his idol to Scot so that if push came to shove, Tai and Scot could use both halves to make a Super Idol. Scot received the most votes, but when he turned to Tai to ask for his half of the idol, Tai refused. So Scot left the game with his anger and Jason's immunity idol. Jason and Scot were not happy campers.

Now that the male alliance has been broken, who is in danger of joining the jury in week 11? Let's see who will be safe and who will be bidding farewell to the other Survivor: Kaoh Rong contestants.

Does Tai Have Any Chance of Winning 'Survivor: Kaoh Rong'?
Survivor (2000)
Survivor: Cambodia was one of the most insane seasons in the show's long history with seemingly every episode ending in a blindside. It's successor Survivor: Kaoh Rong is not looking to be forgotten however, if the last two episodes can be believed. Now that the annoying tribe split is over and the tribes have merged the game has begun in earnest and it is getting brutal and shocking.

In week 10, Tai turned on his alliance and voted Scot Pollard NBA "champion" out of the game, making it one of the biggest moves of the season. While precisely no one watching is mad about this move, Tai might have just ruined his chances to win the game.

Is Tai the Darth Vader of Survivor?

All season long we've been watching Tai's moral journey. From the blithe, tree-hugging gardener of the first episode we've seen him perverted by the cruel necessities of the game. He turned towards the Dark Side with Jason and Scot,...

Did the All-Female Alliance Just Ruin Their Chances of Winning 'Survivor: Kaoh Rong'?
Survivor (2000)
The Super Idol might not be the best twist in Survivor history. It certainly has created quite a shadow over Survivor: Kaoh Rong  and added a few new layers to how the game and alliances work. The Super Idol has only just come to light for all the castaways but it is already making big waves, especially when it comes to Tribal Council. The three man alliance of Jason, Tai and Scot threatened to use their two immunity idols at Tribal in week 9. This one threat sent the majority alliance into a tailspin, an incredibly stupid tailspin. The Super Idol wasn't even played and it might have destroyed the majority (almost) all-female alliance.

'Survivor: Kaoh Rong': Original three tribes evenly split, so who holds the power going forward?
Survivor (2000)
It couldn't be set up any more perfectly -- now that we're down to nine castaways on "Survivor: Kaoh Rong," the original Brawn, Brains and Beauty tribes are evenly split at three apiece.
