Producer Jolene Rodriguez has announced that Julio Macias and Danube Hermosillo are set to star in the upcoming action-packed thriller film “Atypical Pirate,” to be directed by Ruben Islas.

Rodriguez was named one of Variety’s 10 emerging producers to watch in 2023, known for her feature film “Righteous Thieves.”

You could say that The Rookie Season 5 Episode 5 was a busy hour with a few laughs and entertainment.

It was an hour that also put all its characters to use, which was refreshing.

Angela was long overdue for some type of storyline or some decent screen time. The hour didn't disappoint on that front, even going as far as introducing us to her family.

The Lopez brothers are hot, and as a forever fan of Julio Macias, there were a lot of unholy thoughts swirling around while he was playing a priest.

We've heard about Angela's brothers on and off, but it was great to put faces to the names and build a story around who they are and the specific dynamics at play among the siblings.

When Angela found Momma Lopez on the pavement bleeding, it was on from there.

The ones I did manage to find were mostly all documentaries or based on the true story we already know. Hulu's "Promised Land" is working to change that, tracking multiple characters - Joe, Lettie, and Billy - who immigrate from Mexico to work in California's fields. The show is split between two timelines, one in the late '80s following the recently arrived farmworkers and one in the present day, when Joe and his wife, Lettie, now own the vineyard they first labored at.

Netflix announced that Bryana Salaz, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Ciara Riley Wilson and Shiv Pai have joined the cast of “Freeridge,” the upcoming spinoff of “On My Block.”

The young adult comedy will reveal another side of the fictitious L.A. town Freeridge, following Salaz, Meija, Wilson and Pai’s characters as the new protagonists after they appeared in the series finale of “On My Block.” In “Freeridge,” the new core group end up on an adventure after realizing they may or may not have unleashed a deadly curse.

Salaz is best known for being a contestant on Season 7 of “The Voice” and later starring in “Team Kaylie,” while Mejia’s credits include Season 11 of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Growing Fangs.” Wilson has appeared in “L.A. ‘s Finest” and “Kim Possible” and Pai has appeared in “Iron Fist” and “Uncut Gems.”

Netflix has cast its new Core Four for On My Block spinoff, YA comedy series Freeridge. The fourth and final season of On My Block premiered October 4 on Netflix. Salaz, Mejia, Wilson and Pai appear in the series finale as a segue to the upcoming spinoff.

Uyeshiro, Gonzalez and Haft will serve as co-creators, co-showrunners and executive producers of Freeridge. Iungerich and Dooner are co-creators and executive producers.

The streamer on Monday handed out a series order for Freeridge, which promises to present “another side” of the town of Freeridge.

In a surprising twist, the new series would be from the perspective of a new group of teeangers.

“The stories of Freeridge continue in this On My Block spinoff following a new crew of friends who may or may not have unleashed a deadly curse kicking off an unforgettable adventure,” according to the logline.

Netflix has ordered a spinoff of the YA comedy series “On My Block.”

The new series, titled “Freeridge,” hails from “On My Block” co-creators Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft along with “On My Block” co-producer Jamie Uyeshiro and “On My Block” co-executive producer Jamie Dooner. All are credited as co-creators and executive producers on the new series, with Uyeshiro, Gonzalez, and Haft also serving as co-showrunners.

“Co-creating and running ‘On My Block’ was and will always be a highlight of my life,” Iungerich said. “I am so proud to pass the baton to my incredible partners Eddie and Jeremy and the incomparable Jamie Uyeshiro who rocked it in the writers room from day one. The streamer on Monday dropped the trailer for On My Block Season 4, and it teases a lot of changes for the characters at the wheel of the series.

It begins in the past, with Cesar telling Monse that the only thing he will do in life is join a gang and turn to a life of crime.

Monse, of course, is trying to tell her love interest there's more out there for him.

Unfortunately, the characters are all apart when the final season debuts, with them all going their separate ways following a significant time jump.

Jackson released a teaser for the documentary, in which fellow musicians such as Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul speak about their relationship with the singer. Jackson’s family members make appearances as well, with clips of the late Michael Jackson with his younger sister in home videos, as well as Tito Jackson saying, “She will always be my baby sister.”

Amazon Prime Video debuted a trailer for “The Underground Railroad,” an original limited series from showrunner and director Barry Jenkins.

All 10 episodes of the series, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Colson Whitehead, will premiere on May 14.

“The Underground Railroad” follows Cora Randall’s journey to freedom in the antebellum South as bounty hunter Ridgeway seeks to bring her back to the plantation she escaped. Thuso Mbedu, Chase W. Netflix has announced that the second half of Selena: The Series will premiere on May 4th on the streaming platform.

A new teaser, released Monday to coincide with the announcement, shows the Queen of Tejano Music (portrayed by Christian Serratos) performing with her family band Selena y Los Dinos. This includes her brother A.B. The streamer on Friday announced a 10-episode fourth season order for the hit comedy, which was named one of the streamer's most-binged series a few years back.

10 episodes mean that it will have two more episodes than On My Block Season 4, but this is perhaps to help close the series out.

News of the renewal was expected, but given that the third season dropped on Netflix almost a year ago, and the way that Netflix has been canceling previously renewed shows, its fate was very much up in the air.

Series stars Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco, Jessica Marie Garcia and Julio Macias are all set to return for the 10-episode final outing, alongside co-creator and showrunner Lauren Iungerich.

Plot details for the new episodes have not been revealed, but Season 3, which premiered on Netflix last March, concluded with a two-year time jump that saw all the main characters go their separate ways.
