Bane is coming back and it looks like he is ready to break more than just the Bat. Yes, James Gunn and Peter Safran are reportedly taking another iconic Batman villain to the big screen, and this time, Bane is getting the spotlight he deserves. We’ve seen Bane in live action projects before — first in film with a forgettable appearance in Batman & Robin and then with Tom Hardy’s unforgettable portrayal in The Dark Knight Rises. We also can't forget Shane West's imposing performance in Gotham. But now, we’re on the brink of something bigger, something bolder: a Bane-led movie in the DC Universe, which he will reportedly be co-leading with Deathstroke.
For those who need a refresher, Bane is more than just the guy who broke Batman’s back. He’s an intellectual powerhouse — a villain with the brain and brawn combo that makes him...

We got hot priests, family dinners, a breakup, and a proposal!
You could say that The Rookie Season 5 Episode 5 was a busy hour with a few laughs and entertainment.
It was an hour that also put all its characters to use, which was refreshing.
Angela was long overdue for some type of storyline or some decent screen time. The hour didn't disappoint on that front, even going as far as introducing us to her family.
The Lopez brothers are hot, and as a forever fan of Julio Macias, there were a lot of unholy thoughts swirling around while he was playing a priest.
We've heard about Angela's brothers on and off, but it was great to put faces to the names and build a story around who they are and the specific dynamics at play among the siblings.
When Angela found Momma Lopez on the pavement bleeding, it was on from there.

Farmworkers are legendary in the Chicano community, particularly in California. César Chavez and Dolores Huerta are our civil rights leaders, and the Delano Grape Strike is one of our defining moments. So when I attempted to find movies and shows about Chicano farmworkers, I was surprised to discover that there were so few. The ones I did manage to find were mostly all documentaries or based on the true story we already know. Hulu's "Promised Land" is working to change that, tracking multiple characters - Joe, Lettie, and Billy - who immigrate from Mexico to work in California's fields. The show is split between two timelines, one in the late '80s following the recently arrived farmworkers and one in the present day, when Joe and his wife, Lettie, now own the vineyard they first labored at.

After a three-decades-long career, John Ortiz will finally take on the leading role in the upcoming ABC family drama Promised Land, premiering January 24.
With credits in major films like Carlito’s Way, Amistad, American Gangster, and Silver Linings Playbook, and the small screen in Medium, The Handmaid’s Tale, Mayans M.C., why has it taken so long for Hollywood to recognize his bankability as a leading star?
Ortiz stars as the Sandoval family patriarch Joe Sandoval, a vintner married to Lettie (Cecilia Suarez) and with who he shares a blended family of their respective children from prior relationships and a son who is biologically their own. It also explores immigration, with creator Matt Lopez opting to focus on the human experience instead of politicizing it.

ABC likes to have a sudsy primetime soap on its midseason roster, and Promised Land looks like a winner.
In the past, we've had one-and-done but highly watchable shows like Grand Hotel and The Baker and the Beauty, so we're hoping Promised Land stands the test of time.
The series is an epic, generation-spanning drama about two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley.
The first trailer dropped at the network's panel during the Winter TCA tour, and there was another big announcement regarding the series:
The first two episodes will be available on Hulu the day after the series premiere on ABC, marking the first time ABC programming will be released on Hulu before debuting on the network.
The series premieres Monday, Jan. 24 (10:01-11:00 p.m. Est), on ABC, out of The Bachelor.
Will Promised Land and The Bachelor be a match made in TV heaven?...

One of Netflix's best series is about to launch its final batch of episodes.
Yes, we're talking about On My Block.
The streamer on Monday dropped the trailer for On My Block Season 4, and it teases a lot of changes for the characters at the wheel of the series.
It begins in the past, with Cesar telling Monse that the only thing he will do in life is join a gang and turn to a life of crime.
Monse, of course, is trying to tell her love interest there's more out there for him.
Unfortunately, the characters are all apart when the final season debuts, with them all going their separate ways following a significant time jump.
It's an exciting way to shake up the dynamics for the final batch of episodes, but the road back to friendship for this quartet is not going to be easy.

Jackson’s family members make appearances as well, with clips of the late Michael Jackson with his younger sister in home videos, as well as Tito Jackson saying, “She will always be my baby sister.”
Beneath the teaser is Jackson’s 1986 “Control,” which speaks to how she has taken charge of her own narrative and would like to speak in her own words about her life. “This is my story told by me, not through someone else’s eyes,” Jackson says.

The end is approaching for Netflix's On My Block.
The streamer on Tuesday announced the fourth -- and final -- season will premiere Monday, October 4.
All episodes will be available that day, which is a different day of the week in comparison to previous seasons.
Then again, Netflix has a stacked roster of programming for the rest of the year, so it makes sense.
On My Block is a coming of age comedy about a group of bright and street-savvy friends navigating their way through high-school in the rough inner city.

Netflix is closing the book on On My Block.
The streamer on Friday announced a 10-episode fourth season order for the hit comedy, which was named one of the streamer's most-binged series a few years back.
10 episodes mean that it will have two more episodes than On My Block Season 4, but this is perhaps to help close the series out.
News of the renewal was expected, but given that the third season dropped on Netflix almost a year ago, and the way that Netflix has been canceling previously renewed shows, its fate was very much up in the air.
Stars Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco, Jessica Marie Garcia, and Julio Macias will all return for the last-ever season.
The cast of On My Block negotiated pay rises ahead of production on the third season, which included terms should the show be renewed for a fifth season.

Netflix has renewed the fan-favorite YA comedy “On My Block” for a fourth and final season, the streamer announced Friday.
Series stars Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco, Jessica Marie Garcia and Julio Macias are all set to return for the 10-episode final outing, alongside co-creator and showrunner Lauren Iungerich.
Plot details for the new episodes have not been revealed, but Season 3, which premiered on Netflix last March, concluded with a two-year time jump that saw all the main characters go their separate ways.
In an interview with TV Guide last year, Iungerich said Season 4 would provide “definitive answers” regarding the characters’ split and their future. “[The time jump] opened up so many different ways and different avenues to really allow these characters to grow and spread their wings and for us to see their stories evolve and change, because that’s what happens,” she said at the time. “Your core...

Netflix has renewed “On My Block” for a fourth and final season.
For fans of the teen series holding their breath since the third season finale jumped forward a bit into the future, seeing the fracturing of the friend group at the core of the series, answers will be coming soon — but not too soon, as the streamer has not yet set a season premiere date for the new 10-episode season.
“On My Block” follows four bright and street-savvy friends navigating their way through the triumph, pain and the newness of high school set in the rough inner city of Freeridge. It mixes the usual adolescent concerns of family obligations, friendships and romantic relationships with tough topics including gang culture, death and Ptsd. It also includes some larger-than-life elements from kidnappings to a hunt for mysterious treasure. The third season streamed on Netflix in March 2020.

Iungerich remains showrunner and exec producer, the renewal coming after she signed a multiyear overall deal with the streamer last year to develop new projects. She will exec produce alongside co-creators Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft. Jamie Dooner has been upped to executive producer.
It brings an end to the show, which was named by the streamer as its No.
