"Twin Peaks," Episode 5 Recap: I Love How You Love Me
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. The key image in Part 5 of the revived Twin Peaks is of a woman in ecstasy. Recall, however, the subtitle that series co-creator/director David Lynch appended to his thorny 2006 masterpiece Inland Empire: "A Woman in Trouble." The line separating rapture and anguish is a blurry one, especially for Lynch's ladies, who are as likely to end up exquisitely chiseled corpses (the ubiquitous Laura Palmer; Part 2's doomed henchwoman Darya) as they are world-weary survivors. For the moment, let's focus on Rebecca "Becky" Burnett (Amanda Seyfried), daughter of Rr Diner waitress Shelly Johnson (Mädchen Amick), though Becky's last name—taken from ne'er-do-well husband Steven Burnett (Caleb Landry Jones)—obscures the identity of her father. (Dana Ashbrook's now-law-abiding Bobby Briggs is the most likely candidate,...

"Twin Peaks," Episodes 3 & 4 Recap: Hell-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. What's an FBI Special Agent to do after being locked away for 25 years in unearthly purgatory? Episodes three and four of Mark Frost and David Lynch's revived Twin Peaks, which aired on Showtime this past Sunday in a two-hour block (aside from September's two-part finale, it's all single, hour-long episodes from hereon out), follow our besuited, Black Lodge-incarcerated hero Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) as he reintegrates into modern terrestrial society. So this is basically Peaks doing Rectify, just with a sterile death row replaced by an infernal hellscape out of Clive Barker. Or David Lynch, really. What's becoming more and more evident as the new Peaks progresses is that the series is, in large part, a repository for Lynch's subconscious, past and present.

The 'Twins Peaks' Revival Cast List Is Insane (and Insanely Long)
Showtime revealed the full cast list for its upcoming "Twin Peaks" revival, and it's nothing short of insane -- and insanely long.

The ensemble includes a whopping 217 actors -- yes, you read that right -- and amid all the returning faces, there are also a bunch of surprising, big-name newbies along for the ride this time around. (We've embedded the entire list at the end of this post.)

Original cast members that will be back include many previously-announced people, and the ensemble will feature the likes of Kyle MacLachlan, Sherilyn Fenn, Madchen Amick, Sheryl Lee, Dana Ashbrook, David Duchovny, Miguel Ferrer, Grace Zabriskie, Peggy Lipton, Ray Wise, Wendy Robie, Russ Tamblyn, and Catherine E. Coulson, among many others.

As for the newcomers, some of the bold names that stand out include Monica Bellucci, Jim Belushi, Michael Cera, Laura Dern, Jay R. Ferguson (a.k.a. Stan from "Mad Men"), Ernie Hudson ("Ghostbusters"), Ashley Judd,...

Big Names On "Twin Peaks" Cast List Of 217
The new "Twin Peaks" isn't slated to debut on Showtime until 2017, but a flurry of speculation about it happened last week with a tweet from Go For Locations indicating that filming had wrapped on the "first two seasons" of the series.

The episode count for the David Lynch-directed series was always in question, but that tweet suggested we'd be getting even more episodes than originally planned. Said tweet has since been deleted, so we'll have to wait to see how that pans out.

in the meantime in more official news, Showtime, Lynch and Mark Frost has released the official cast list for the new series with a whopping 217 names across the various episodes - a list that includes some real surprise big name inclusions such as Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera, Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eddie Vedder, Ashley Judd, Ernie Hudson, Jim Belushi, Richard Chamberlain, Laura Dern,...

TV show description:

A dark comedy, this series follows a man who's faced with obsolescence in a youth-obsessed culture. His world is thrown into disarray when his 25 year-old "wunderkind" boss arrives, saying things like "digital," "social" and "viral." Is he in need of a "rebranding," or does he just have a "low joy ceiling?" Maybe pursuing happiness is a fool's errand? Is "happyish" is the best one can expect after 44 years on the planet?

Happyish Review: Searching for Joy Is All Misery in Showtime’s New Comedy
In Showtime's dark comedy Happyish, created by Shalom Auslander, Steve Coogan is Thom Payne, a 44-year-old creative director at a New York advertising firm. He's pulled in two different directions by the contentment he feels at home with his wife, Lee (Kathryn Hahn) and his son Julius (Sawyer Shipman), versus the depressing nature of the corporate rat race. It leaves him feeling "happyish," though viewers may identify with just the -ish. [caption id="attachment_449385" align="alignright" width="263"] Image via Showtime/caption] Thematically, Happyish isn't covering any new ground. It's partly a story of midlife crisis, but it's tonally similar to HBO's Silicon Valley, which also illustrates the absurdities of a youth-obsessed culture and the shiny allure of social media. During an otherwise tired rant to his new Swedish bosses, Gottfrid (Nils Lawton) and Gustaf (Tobias Segal), Thom brings up a fair point about why a brand like Pepto-Bismol would want you to follow them on Twitter.

Happyish Season 1 Review
Three episodes were provided for reviewing purposes prior to broadcast.

Showtime’s new half-hour dramedy Happyish is a bit off-brand for the network, which usually slots the hero-with-a-dark-secret into a thirty-minute show blueprint. The new show is less Weeds, Nurse Jackie or The Big C and more Californication: a loose character study about a middle-aged guy trying to desperately fight to establish his own existence and find a reason for it. Steve Coogan’s Thom Payne has no grand, mysterious backstory or any blatant reason to tip-toe carefully around revealing a second life to his friends and family. He just goes to work, loves his family and occasionally imagines advertising characters talking to him.

Ah, there’s the quirky hook you were waiting for. See, Thom is an advertising exec for a company with accounts like Coca-Cola and Geico. The pilot presents a guy with an average life – wife, son,...
