But this is not the case for everyone…
In Emergency, three college friends’ epic Spring Break party night spirals into chaos when they find an unconscious stranger in their apartment and, fearing how it will look to the police, must navigate racial tensions, moral dilemmas, and a frantic chase to get her to safety.

Brett Goldstein might be one of the more underrated players in movies and TV series. He doesn't just act, either. Nor does he only act and write. He creates, and what he comes up with are some excellent and highly entertaining ideas.
Many might know him from playing Roy Kent on the Apple TV series, Ted Lasso. Kent is a good-hearted menace. He is not easy to please, but he will help those in need. Goldstein plays the character dynamically and exceptionally well.
Some might know him from another Apple TV series, Shrinking. His part is minor on that show (he doesn't appear until season two), but essential. He plays the character who drives drunk and kills Jason Siegel's character's wife. The show is a comedy with a heavy dose of kind-hearted drama. Goldstein also co-wrote the episodes and created the show.

Now, he returns with “Jackpot!” a buddy comedy flick starring Awkwafina and John Cena as the dynamic duo. Besides them, the film stars Simu Liu, Ayden Mayeri, Donald Elise Watkins, Murray Hill, Becky Ann Baker, and Dolly de Leon in pivotal roles.

Everyone knows NASA was a notoriously boring place in the summer of 1969. Nothing going on but smoking and stirring Tang. Thankfully, in Apple TV+'s Fly Me To The Moon, Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson inject some human drama into the horn-rimmed hallways of Merritt Island's Launch Operations Center. The Rom-Com-Dram, which dropped in theaters this past July - and spent an unusually long time in "rent or buy" limbo - is finally getting a streaming date this December 6th. Per the synopsis:
"Brought in to fix NASAs public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing wunderkind Kelly Jones wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Daviss already difficult task. When the President deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as back-up and the countdown truly begins"

Stars: Awkwafina, John Cena, Simu Liu, Ayden Mayeri, Donald Elise Watkins, Murray Hill | Written by Rob Yescombe | Directed by Paul Feig
Awkwafina and John Cena star in this Amazon Prime action comedy, directed by Paul Feig. The plot is flimsy and it lacks a satirical edge, but the two leads have comic chemistry to burn and there’s a steady stream of decent gags.
Set in a mildly dystopian future, Jackpot! takes place in Los Angeles, where a billion-dollar lottery win comes with a catch: if you win, you have to survive until sundown, because people can legally try and kill you to take your prize for themselves. The only other rule is that you’re not allowed to use guns, which is just as well, or the movie would have been one long shoot-out.

Would you trust John Cena to be your bodyguard for a day? Well, that’s what Awkwafina’s character is forced to do in their new movie, “Jackpot!”
Ok, technically, she’s trusting Noel — he’s just played by Cena. Now streaming on Prime Video, Paul Feig’s latest film centers on Katie Kim (Awkwafina), who finds herself literally running for her life after winning the lottery in near-future Los Angeles.
In this world, it’s perfectly legal to murder the lottery winner and take over their jackpot, so long as you complete the kill by sundown and don’t use a gun. It’s an insane concept, and it boasts a fun cast of familiar faces to bring it all together.
Here’s who you need to know.

Noel (John Cena)
Noel is a bodyguard who comes to help Katie, for a price. He’s mostly a good-hearted dude though.

Jackpot! combines action and comedy in a story about a woman who wins the lottery and is running for her life as a result. The movie reunites Awkwafina and Simu Liu from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Other cast members include John Cena, Seann William Scott, Murray Hill, and Mgk.
Jackpot! blends action and comedy into a tale about the downfalls of winning the lottery, and the movie features a talented and hilarious cast who gets to tell the story. The 2024 Amazon Prime Video film, directed by Paul Feig and written by Rob Yescombe, follows a struggling actress trying to make it big in Hollywood who wins the lottery in 2030. However, there is (unfortunately) a catch California instituted a law stating that those with a losing ticket get to claim the winner's money if they kill them before sundown. So, her survival becomes a race against the clock.

Jackpot! brings together action, comedy, and a deadly lottery twist in a near-future California setting. John Cena talks building a comedy dynamic with Awkwafina, feeling they found their chemistry very quickly and built a quick trust with one another. It's a full month at Prime Video and Freevee! This August, get ready for the Season 2 premiere of Prime Video's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” Based partially on J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Silmarillion” and set thousands of years before the events of the original “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, the epic series covers the major events of Middle-earth’s Second Age, including the forging of the eponymous Rings of Power, the rise of the Sauron, and the last alliance between elves and men. The second season will premiere late in the month on Aug. 29, but first, take your own quest there and back again: on Aug. 1, both “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies will be available on the streamer.
The new month will also usher in the premiere of “Batman: Caped Crusader,” a new noir take on “Batman: The Animated Series” from original creator Bruce Timm.

Directed by Greg Berlanti and produced by star Scarlett Johansson, the romantic dramedy Fly Me to the Moon was originally meant to be released directly to the Apple TV+ streaming service, but strong test screenings inspired Sony to give the film a theatrical release first. The movie isn’t setting the box office on fire, having pulled in just $20 million worldwide during its first week of release, but it will be heading to Apple TV+ soon anyway – and Berlanti and Johansson were able to establish a strong working relationship during the making of the film. That’s a working relationship they’re now set to continue with a psychological thriller called Sasha, and Deadline reports that Amazon MGM Studios has come out the winner of a five-way auction to land the rights to the project.
Berlanti will be producing Sasha alongside Sarah Schechter and Mike McGrath for Berlanti Schechter Films,...

Depending on your Spotify playlist or your TikTok/Instagram feed, you've probably heard some of Sabrina Carpenter's music. (Is it possible to exist and not have heard "Espresso"?) Carpenter has also appeared in multiple films and television series, getting her start on Disney Channel's Girl Meets World. One film that may have flown under the radar is Emergency, directed by Carey Williams and written by K.D. Dvila. Based on Williams and Dvila's short film of the same name, Emergency centers on college students Kunle (Donald Elise Watkins) and Sean (Rj Cyler) preparing to undergo a legendary bar crawl. But their plans get upended when they discover an unconscious girl in their room. Kunle, Sean, and their roommate Carlos (Sebastian Chacon) decide to take the girl to a hospital, unaware that her sister Maddy (Carpenter) is looking for her. What should be a simple journey rapidly escalates as Kunle,...

Yes, I see that title and I immediately picture “ole’ blue eyes”, a trench coat draped over a shoulder, crooning that catchy 1954 Bart Howard classic. And that’s just what the producers want to evoke, to get you in a nostalgic mood for a frothy romance set against the backdrop of the “space race”. Mission accomplished, but could a “rom-com” really work against the somber historical backdrop we’ve seen in heavy, serious films like First Man, A Million Miles Away, Hidden Figures, Apollo 13, and the HBO miniseries, “From the Earth to the Moon”.Now, that’s the trick, much like the possible results facing NASA, Will it blast off or crash land? But it’s “star power” rather than rocket fuel that propels Fly Me To The Moon.

Channing Tatum can’t recall the first scene he and Scarlett Johansson filmed together for “Fly Me to the Moon.” He does, however, remember where they first met: at a table read for the romantic comedy.
Although Tatum and Johansson were both involved in the films “Don Jon” and “Hail, Caeser!,” the two actors “never crossed paths,” as Tatum puts it, until “Fly Me to the Moon.”
“I remember us going down right after the table read to go into hair and makeup and start to try to figure out our look for the movie — it’s period and everything — and she was trying to figure out her wig for the movie,” Tatum told Variety at the “Fly Me to the Moon” premiere in New York City on Monday night. “I just immediately started making fun of her wig. Scarlett Johansson is certainly one of the most accomplished A-list actresses in the industry with several hits and accolades throughout her career. The actress has balanced her films with the right amount of franchise blockbusters and character-driven dramas that have shown her versatility as an actor. After doing big Marvel films, she makes sure to do dramas like Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit.

Greg Berlanti’s high-concept rom-com Fly Me to the Moon emphasizes the optimism of the Space Race while also regarding the militaristic motives behind early space exploration with a jaundiced, decidedly modern perspective. It opens at the top of 1969, with NASA having less than a year to make good on John F. Kennedy’s 1961 promise to get astronauts to the moon before the end of the decade. With the Apollo program seemingly stalled out and congressional enthusiasm for the space program waning, certain government agencies decide to rejuvenate public interest and secure further federal funding to ensure that the Soviet Union, following a string of spaceflight achievements, doesn’t again embarrass the U.S.
To do so, a mysterious official, Moe (Woody Harrelson), recruits Madison Avenue marketing executive Kelly Jones (Scarlett Johansson) to mount a PR campaign on NASA’s behalf, and to the bafflement of the space agency’s...

Having dabbled in YA fantasy (The School For Good And Evil) and Wham!-based Christmas movies (Last Christmas) in recent years, director Paul Feig is getting back into his Spy and The Heat action-comedy groove with high concept Prime Video movie Jackpot! A sort of The Purge-meets-Euromillions-rollover caper set in very-near-future Los Angeles, this one sees Awkwafina's struggling actor Katie reluctantly teaming up with John Cena's amateur lotto heavy Noel when she unwittingly hits the jackpot, only to learn that California state rules allow anybody to kill the lottery winner before sundown without consequence. If it sounds a bit zany, then it looks even zanier. Check out the wackadoodle trailer below;

What if The Purge was a Paul Feig action-comedy starring Awkwafina as a lottery winner whose killer can claim the multi-billion dollar jackpot and a toupee-wearing John Cena as an “amateur lottery protection agent”? Judging by its official trailer, Jackpot! aims to answer that question.
Taking place in 2030, Jackpot! centers around Awkwafina’s Katie Kim, an aspiring actor who unexpectedly wins California’s newly established “grand lottery.” Unfortunately, there’s a major catch: anyone who kills the winner can legally stake claim to the prize.
As Katie gets chased all over Los Angeles, she runs into John Cena’s Noel Cassidy, who is tasked with protecting her until sundown in exchange for a piece of the prize. Standing in their way is his rival Louis Lewis (Simu Liu), who is also vying for the same commission.

"Katie's the biggest jackpot of all time. Just find her!" Prime Video has debuted the trailer for a goofy dark comedy called Jackpot!, the latest movie from comedy filmmaker Paul Feig. Set in a near future where a killer lottery has been created in economically struggling California. This has one of the ultimate concepts that acts as a metaphor for America: in the near future, a "Grand Lottery" has been newly established in California - the catch: anyone can kill the winner before sundown to legally claim their multi-billion dollar jackpot. Feig's Jackpot! stars Awkwafina and John Cena, along with appearances by Mgk, Simu Liu, Ayden Mayeri, Seann William Scott, Dolly de Leon, Donald Elise Watkins, and Sam Asghari. The Amazon MGM Studios film from director Paul Feig begins streaming via Prime Video on Aug. 15.
