Crown of Shadows, also know as The Reign of Queen Ginnarra (the title under which it played film festivals), is a dark, Gothic medieval horror film from director Lawrie Brewster – credited on the DVD from High Fliers as Richard Campbell – and writer Sarah Daly who’ve previously worked together on other Hex Studios productions such as Lord of Tears, The Devil’s Machine, Dragon Knight and The Slave and the Sorcerer.
This latest effort comes from the companies new “strand”, Hex Elder Myths and combines both Brewster and Daly’s past experience in both horror and and action, taking tropes and stereotypes from both genres, fusing medieval fantasy with Lovercraftian horror to deliver what is a sword and sorcery epic. And I don’t use the word epic lightly, because this film runs a whopping 142 minutes!

After decades in the shadows, the legendary Amicus Productions is set for a grand revival thanks to the team at Hex Studios. Their upcoming film, ‘In the Grip of Terror’, seeks to honor the classic studio’s legacy while forging a new chapter in British horror.
Drawing inspiration from iconic films like ‘Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors’ (1965), ‘Tales from the Crypt’ (1972), and ‘Asylum’ (1972), the new portmanteau feature will spotlight four tales rooted in the works of revered authors such as H.P. Lovecraft, Ambrose Bierce, and E.F Benson. With a central theme of medical macabre, the film promises to be a chilling experience. While the full cast list is under wraps, it will feature UK horror stalwarts like Laurence R. Harvey (Human Centipede II) and emerging stars Megan Tremethick (Ghost Crew) Jonathan Hansler (The Devil’s Machine) and Michael Daviot (Revenge of Innsmouth).

"And I summon you to a war!" Hex Studios has released the official promo trailer for a new epic fantasy project called Dragon Knight, a throwback to the fantasy epics of the 70s and 80s. The film is in the midst of a funding round on Kickstarter so they can finish up their post-production and release the film later this year. When a malevolent force takes hold over the kingdoms of Agonos, a lone knight must embark on a perilous quest to find the last dragon, and save the world from this great and growing evil. The screenwriter adds: "Dragon Knight will have everything you expect from a fantasy film: dragons, heroes, epic battles, but it also has something to say, and should feel relevant to the strange times we live in." Let's hope it's good. The film stars Joanne Garnet, Emily Louise Knutsson, Megan Tremethick, Michael Daviot, Ryan Livingstone,...
