At age seven Ryan moved to Carlsbad, California where he started making homemade movies regularly. After graduating from Carlsbad High School he worked as a Combat Cameraman for the United States Marine Corps for six years before studying cinematography. In school Ryan fell in love with documentary filmmaking and has been telling stories ever since.
