The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, which reportedly has "New Sunnydale" as its working title, has started shooting in Los Angeles. With that comes what appears to be a first look at Star Wars: Skeleton Crew star Ryan Kiera Armstrong as the show's new lead slayer.

There have been some grumblings about the 15-year-old Armstrong being a little too young for this role, and she definitely looks like a high schooler here. However, it's worth noting that in the original series, Buffy Summers was also only meant to be 16, though Gellar was 20 at the time.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is reprising her role as Buffy in the series, which added Rakotohavana (Secret Society of Second Born Royals) as Hugo, Ava Jean (Law & Order: Svu) as Larkin, Sarah Bock (Severance) as Gracie, Daniel di Tomasso (Witches of East End) as Abe, and Jack Cutmore-Scott (Oppenheimer) as Mr. Burke earlier this week.

According to Jeff Sneider, Chase Sui Wonders (I Know What You Did Last Summer) is set to join Hulu’s upcoming reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As you might expect, details on her character are being kept under wraps, but Sneider hears she will guest star in the pilot.

The reboot series will star Ryan Kiera Armstrong as the new young slayer, but the series will also see the return of Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers. “From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side,” said Gellar of Armstrong’s casting. “To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” actress, who is set to star in the series reboot, posted a video to her social media of the two training at a gym in preparation to take on the vampire-slaying roles. Gellar wrote, “Warrior 1 and 2 We don’t sweat … we sparkle.”

In the video, Gellar can be seen doing squats on a half exercise ball, doing Trx pulls and much more. And Armstrong is right by her side.

After two seasons, CSI: Vegas has established itself as a worthy continuation of the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. The second season of CSI: Vegas started very promisingly for Josh Folsom, but the end is poised to be his worst nightmare. In Season 2's penultimate episode, "Shell Game," Folsom discovered that his mother, Jeanette, was in serious trouble. Here's his insight on what it was like to film the emotionally intense hour and the conversations he had with showrunner Jason Tracey -- who also wrote and directed the finale. As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to alter people’s holiday celebrations, many people are finding that watching holiday films is one tradition that can continue. While there has been no meaningful change in the percentage of speaking characters with disabilities in these top-grossing films in the past five years with just 2.3 percent of the 4,451 characters analyzed in the 100 top-grossing films of 2019 by the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism having a disability, several holiday films are bucking this trend. And for the one-in-four people in the U.S. who have a disability, that means there are more opportunities to see ourselves reflected on screen.

“Everybody was incredibly concerned about, as we were figuring it out, making sure that we were following the best possible guidelines to keep people safe,” Amy Winter, head of programming at Lifetime, told TheWrap. “We all sat down, even before we got started, saying, how is anybody even going to kiss in these movies, given the circumstances? And the greatest, oddest solution I’ve seen so far is people kissing through plexiglass that can be removed in post, which is absolutely phenomenal.”

Sony Pictures Classics has scheduled Azazel Jacobs’ drama French Exit for a Feb. 21, 2021 release in time for Oscars.

The pic, which stars Oscar nominees Michelle Pfeiffer and Lucas Hedges, is making its world premiere as the Closing Night feature at the 2020 New York Film Festival.

Directed by Jacobs and written by award-winning novelist Patrick deWitt, based on the author’s international bestseller, French Exit follows an aging Manhattan socialite living on what’s barely left of her inheritance, who moves to a small apartment in Paris with her directionless son and cat, Small Frank. The feline may or may not embody the spirit of Frances’ dead husband (played by Tony Award winner Trace Letts).

Danielle Macdonald, Valerie Mahaffey, Daniel di Tomasso, Susan Coyne, Imogen Poots, and Isaach de Bankolé also star. French Exit, the novel, was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize.
