Io Sakisaka's shojo romance manga Strobe Edge announced today that the series is being adapted into a live-action TV drama that will broadcast in Japan for two seasons on Wowow beginning in the fall season of 2025. The series stars Riko Fukumoto and Kyohei Takahashi in the leading roles of Ninako Kinoshita and Ren Ichinose , respectively. Strobe Edge was previously adapted into a live-action in film in 2015 with direction by Ryuichi Hiroki and a script by Sayaka Kuwamura. Shueisha serialized the original Strobe Edge manga from June 2007 – August 2010 in their Bessatsu Margaret shojo magazine, and the series has also been published in 10 collected volumes. Midori (Asami Mizukawa) is an artist in her 30s with anxiety and worries about her future. Takano (Kodai Asaka) is a 25-year-old bureaucrat who works for the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. He is under the pump at work and becomes lethargic. One day, after inspecting a list of people who have committed suicide due to their temporary and irregular employment, he begins to investigate the background of a certain 25-year-old person on the list.
Runway is based on the Tanka Poetry Collection “Kashu Kassoro” by Shinichiro Hagihara, who died suddenly at 32 years old. The screenplay is by Sayaka Kuwamura and the film is directed by Norichika Oba, known for Cyclops which won the the Governor of Hokkaido Prize and Cinegar Award at the 2018 Yubari International Film Festival. Runway received its world premiere at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival on November 3, 2020.
