Emery made his first on-screen appearance in the 2012 3D dance film Step Up 4: Miami Heat. After numerous one-off appearances in films, TV movies, his first major roles came in 2015 with Goosebumps and an appearance in the first season of Fox's award-winning comedy horror series Scream Queens. Appearances in Dear White People and Vice Principals followed before he won his first recurring role: Randy Pomfrey in American Vandals, an acclaimed and award-winning Netflix parody of series such as Making a Murderer. This was swiftly followed by another recurring role in the Netflix comedy Disjointed.
