From an early age, it was evident to family and educators alike that Derek Lane possessed an "Azaria level" gift for vocal mimicry and an exceptional range of emotions and presence. Their uncanny ability to breathe life into characters, embodying their quirks and vulnerabilities, has earned them much respect from peers and fans alike. Their various large scale Skyrim Mods and their breakthrough performance as various voices for Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic II Restored Content mod published in 2009 as well as their overall dedication to their craft has made them a sought-after substitute/flex voice actor in various video games, and commercials, short films etc... bringing a rare genuine authenticity and relatability to every role they take on.

These skills have aloud Derek to adapt to most any situation in voice and movement and bring a level of genuine and varied physicality to the embodiment in their performances.
In addition to their artistic achievements, They have worked diligently to promote understanding and compassion for those who are differently abled or come, as they did, from situations of abuse/poverty. They have actively engaged with various organizations, productions and corporations using their platform to raise awareness and support initiatives that create opportunities for those on the spectrum/underprivileged situations.
Beyond the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry, they are an avid comic collector and also keeps themselves grounded though family, who they have stated they owe for all their support and success to. They continue to inspire others with their resilience and passion for their craft.
