The 45th Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) will be held on March 1, 2025, to recognize the worst films of 2024. The nominees were originally set to be announced on January 16, but due to wildfires in Southern California, the announcement was delayed several times, eventually being revealed on January 21.
The nominees were chosen by 1,202 members of the Golden Raspberry Foundation, including movie fans, critics, and journalists. This year, many comic book adaptations received nominations, such as ‘The Crow,’ ‘Madame Web,’ ‘Joker: Folie à Deux,’ and ‘Kraven the Hunter.’
Several well-known actors, including Ariana DeBose, Cate Blanchett, and Joaquin Phoenix, were also mentioned, with Jon Voight getting a nod for his roles in four films. 2024 was really bad for superhero adaptations considering that the movies received eighteen nominations overall.

Dennis Quaid's Reagan just reached an important milestone at the box office. Hoping to tell the true story of President Ronald Reagan's life, the movies explores his life from his childhood and through his later years. Alongside leading man Quaid, Penelope Ann Miller also starred as Nancy Reagan. Despite a high audience score on Rotten Tomatoes that saw a 98% total, Reagan has proven divisive for critics, having settled with a 17% Tomatometer score.
Despite being panned by critics, according to a weekend box office report by Deadline, Reagan has officially crossed the $25 million milestone. Thanks to a weekend take of $1.9 million, it now has $26.7 million through its fourth week. Considering the $25 million budget, the movie has finally earned its budget back. This weekend's take represents a 33% drop from last week, but it is still a respectable draw for week 4.

Dennis Quaid's new movie, Reagan, is out, and, unsurprisingly, it's proven very divisive, with a big gap between critics' and audiences' responses. Reagan, starring actor Dennis Quaid as the titular president, Ronald Reagan, is a movie that falls somewhere between biopic and faith-based drama, though it is based on the 2006 book The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism by Paul Kengor. The movie opens in 1981, shortly before Reagan is shot in an attempted assassination by John Hinckley Jr.
The rest of the movie flashes back through Reagan's past before moving forward again. Reagan takes particular care to explore the ways that becoming a born-again Christian and an anti-union activist and FBI informant in Hollywood shaped the radically conservative views he held in his later political life, particularly his years as President of the United States. Unsurprisingly, Reagan has wildly divided critics and the audiences already predisposed to...

“Deadpool & Wolverine” notched a major box office milestone, surpassing $600 million in domestic ticket sales. It’s one of 16 films in history to reach that benchmark.
The Marvel superhero sequel hit this achievement during the otherwise desolate Labor Day weekend, in which “Deadpool & Wolverine” ruled over the box office in its sixth outing. The R-rated film, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, collected $15.2 million over the weekend and an estimated $19.5 million from 3,630 theaters through Monday’s holiday. “Deadpool & Wolverine” has claimed the No. 1 spot for five out of the past six weekends and ranks as the second highest-grossing movie of the year with $603.8 million in North America and $1.25 billion globally.
Labor Day isn’t a holiday that’s known for bringing people to the movies, but this weekend was among the most sluggish of the year. Summer season ended with domestic revenues down 14.3% from 2023 and 26.6% from 2019, the last pre-covid year,...

Box Office: ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Crosses $600M to Rule Labor Day, ‘Reagan’ in Close Race for No. 3
Labor Day weekend is never a big holiday for moviegoing, as most people mark the end of summer with other activities, and this year is no exception. Deadpool & Wolverine is the biggest headline of the four-day weekend as it stays No. 1 in its sixth outing and crosses $600 million domestically, becoming only the 16th film in history to do so, not adjusted for inflation.

Reagan has dominated a horde of other new releases during a slow summer weekend at the domestic box office. The new movie, directed by Sean McNamara, is a biopic of former President Ronald Reagan starring Dennis Quaid in the title role. The Reagan release came during the final weekend of August, at the same time as several similar non-tentpole new releases including the Blumhouse AI horror movie Afraid, the L.A. riots thriller 1992, and the Casey Affleck sci-fi movie Slingshot.
Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, projections for the domestic box office show the overall grosses turning out one of the summer's slower weekends in spite of the 4-day Labor Day holiday. The holdover hit Deadpool & Wolverine is continuing to reign supreme, taking the No. 1 spot for the fifth non-consecutive time with a projected 4-day total between $19 and $20 million. Reagan Stars Penelope Ann Miller and Dennis Quaid
Last week, Eye For Film had the chance to sit down with stars of Reagan, a biopic starring Dennis Quaid and Penelope Ann Miller as Ron and Nancy. Based on Paul Kengor's book The Crusader, it has Jon Voight as a narrator for the story. Not conventionally though. Kengor's book is subtitled Ronald Reagan And The Fall Of Communism, and Voight plays an old Kgb hand who explains how the Gipper brought Gorbachev to the table and more.
Due to time differences I wished Jon a good evening from Scotland. "Hello Andrew," he said in a passable Scottish accent. He continued "Great lad, great". It was only fair to say I'd offer him some of my mum's shortbread; even online interviews need snacks, and that got a laugh too.
The film is framed with his character, Viktor Petrovich, as the lens for it.

Dennis Quaid said that he can relate to the late Ronald Reagan, whom he plays in a new feature biopic, because, “he was really kind of a fading actor towards the end of his career.”
Quaid noted that Reagan, who retired from acting in 1964, initially ran for president of the Screen Actors Guild in 1947, which was “right around the time” his first wife, Jane Wyman, won a Best Actress Oscar for “Johnny Belinda.”
“I think he felt a bit of a failure, to tell you the truth,” said the “Innerspace” actor. “I know he never got to the place that he aspired to be and I could really relate to that,” he said on Thursday’s Megyn Kelly Show podcast.

There is a great deal more hagiography than history in “Reagan,” a worshipful biopic of the 40th U.S. President that often plays like the cinematic equivalent of CliffsNotes, or one of those compact paperback biographies of notable figures that are designed to be consumed in an hour or less.
Director Sean McNamara (“Soul Surfer”), working from a by-the-numbers screenplay by Howard A. Due to the sheer lack of compelling options, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is expected to top the box office in its sixth weekend of release.
Several movies will open nationwide — the Dennis Quaid-led biopic “Reagan” and Sony and Blumhouse’s AI horror fable “Afraid” among them — but none are projected to make a dent on box office charts over the Labor Day holiday weekend. Those newcomers are aiming for low-single digits and will be lucky to crack the top five, which looks to be populated with holdovers such as “Alien: Romulus” and romantic drama “It Ends With Us.”

Sean McNamara’s biopic Reagan moves well beyond hero worship, as it paints the 40th U.S. president as a saint among men. The film opens with Ronald Reagan (Dennis Quaid) quoting his mother via voiceover—“Everything, even seemingly random twists of fate, is all a part of the divine plan”—just as it cuts to a vision of John Hinckley Jr.’s 1981 attempted assassination of the president. The mix of slow-mo re-enactment and archival footage is the first of many bizarre, unintentionally funny moments in a film that’s determined not only to position Reagan as the great man of the second half of the 20th century, but as a man ordained by God to defeat the colossal, religion- and freedom-hating villain of our times: communism.
