Jennifer Lopez’s First Solo Album In Nearly A Decade Is On The Way

After nearly 10 years, Jennifer Lopez is releasing a new solo album.

Upon signing a new recording and publishing partnership with BMG — announced by Billboard — Lopez is gearing up to drop her ninth studio album, This Is Me…Now, under the global alliance.

The 13 track project will mark Lopez’s first studio album as a solo artist in nine years after 2014’s A.K.A. on Capitol Records, which peaked at no. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Lopez’s latest music ventures include last year’s new version of her 2014 track “Same Girl” (off A.K.A.) — a remix featuring French Montana that she released for her Netflix documentary “Halftime” — along with “This Land Is Your Land (2021 Inauguration)” featuring United States Marine Band, which she sang at Joe Biden’s inauguration. Paul Simon Sells Off Rights to Simon and Garfunkel Royalties

Paul Simon has sold a share in his royalties to BMG, the company announced on Thursday, marking yet another notable deal in the music acquisition space. Simon sold a “substantial stake” in his rights to the royalty income from Simon and Garfunkel’s recordings, along with a type of public performance royalty called neighboring rights, the company said.

BMG declined to give financial details about the purchase or disclose how much of a stake in the royalty rights it bought, but a source familiar with the matter tells Rolling Stone...

BMG Lands Recording, Publishing Contract With NBC’s ‘Songland’
Songwriters competing on the new NBC show “Songland,” which premieres tonight, will see their music released through BMG. The company announced a global recordings and publishing partnership with the show. BMG will serve as worldwide distributor for Songland Records and its publishing arm will administer the show’s publishing company, called Eligible Music.

Original music is created and recorded throughout the series, with one songwriter winning each episode of “Songland.” The victor sees his or her song recorded and released by a major recording artist that same episode. BMG has committed to releasing the winner’s composition along with two runners-up following each show.

The show had come under some fire for having an onerous contract which stipulated that potential participants waive all rights to their song(s) before appearing on the show. The contract was amended following a report in The Wrap which noted that the “Songland” casting website...

BMG Overhauls U.S. Repertoire Team, Zach Katz Stepping Down
BMG is splitting its Us repertoire organization into three units, the company announced today. In its new structure BMG’s three key Us offices: Los Angeles, Nashville, and New York, will effectively have the same status as countries such as the UK and Germany, reporting directly to worldwide CEO Hartwig Masuch.

The company cited its recent growth, which has seen revenue double in three years, as the reason for the move, but also because Zach Katz (pictured above), the company’s current Us President of Repertoire and Marketing, he will step down from company at the end of the year in order to take up an unspecified new role.

Effective January 1, 2019, BMG Us will comprise three distinct units:
