This summer, “America’s Got Talent” returned for its 18th season with Terry Crews resuming his hosting duties and Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofía Vergara once again making up the judges panel. As in the past, this year’s champion will take home a $1 million cash prize and be able to showcase their talent as a headlining act in Las Vegas. Only 55 acts get to perform in the “AGT” Qualifiers to compete for America’s vote and hopefully move one step closer to the finale.

In a recent poll, we asked fans who was their favorite among the acts that performed for judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara in “AGT” Auditions 1. Omitting the Golden Buzzer act Mzansi Youth Choir from the poll, fans decided that metal rock band Steel Panther was the favorite with 29% of the vote.

The annual event, which streamed on December 9, showcased a diverse group of Latinx Writers and Actors with original well-rounded monologues and performances that covered a diverse range of subjects in their storytelling, providing different perspectives of the Latinx experience while using universally relatable themes such as love, loss, hope, language, family, and female empowerment.

Gonzalez was the winner of the Acting Competition for Monologue with Brown Billiards while Desiree Carcamo was announced as the winner of the Writing Competition for Monologue with Not All Tamales Look the Same.

HBO And New York Latino Film Festival Set Second Annual Latino Stand Up Comedy Competition

Exclusive: HBO Latino is teaming with the New York Latino Film Festival (Nylff), once again for the second annual national Latino Stand-Up Comedy Competition. The search for the best Latino stand-up comedians around the country was announced today by 2019 winners Mark Viera and Alex Carabaño via the video above — with the help of Entre Nos’ best comedians Gina Brillón and Orlando Leyba. If you think you have the comedy chops, submissions for the competition open today and will be accepted through November 13.

The competition is designed to support emerging talent and increase awareness and representation of Latino voices in the comedy industry. The top five comedians will perform, and a winner will be chosen at a virtual event in early December which will be hosted by Viera.

Mike E. Winfield Tops The 15th StandUp NBC Comedy Competition
Mike E. Winfield
The winner of the 15th annual StandUp NBC comedy competition is Mike E. Winfield, who beat out 1,600 applicants to win the network’s annual search for comedians of diverse backgrounds.

Winfield has been awarded a talent holding deal with NBCUniversal and a headlining spot at the National Association for Campus Activities (Naca) annual convention, where he will perform for talent bookers from across the country. He will also headline the regional semi-finalist showcases for the 2019 StandUp NBC competition.

Baltimore native Winfield was chosen from eight finalists, including Vincent Bryant, Ali Clayton, Calvin Evans, Sohrab Forouzesh, Jay Jurden, Luz Pazos and Venessa Peruda. They were among 1,600 stand-up comedians who auditioned last year through online submissions and open calls in Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas and New York.
